edwards will be the next brady/roethlisberger
Cynical replied to robert's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me slow it down for you, since you are unable to grasp the concepts of comprehension, analyzing and facts. If you had bother to read the whole thread, you would have learned what the HOF SB winning genius of a coach named Walsh felt about the following QBs: He originally did not like Joe Montana, and in fact preferred Fuller and Dils over Joe. He liked Rick Mirer, Joey Harrington, David Carr, and Steve Young. He liked Jake Plummer so much he actually referred to Plummer as the next Joe Montana, including winning multiple SB. Walsh was originally wrong about Joe Montana. Walsh was correct about Steve Young. Walsh was wrong about Rick Mirer. Walsh was wrong about Joey Harrington. Walsh was wrong about David Carr. Walsh was wrong about Jake Plummer. That makes Walsh's record 1 out of 6, or about 16%. This is the record of the guy whose opinion you value. If you cannot see that the facts say Walsh's opinion regarding QB's is about as valid as Kipers, then I do not what to tell you. Here a little factoid to chew on: If the 49ers did not trade for OJ Simpson, Walsh and company would still have had their first round pick. Walsh would have grabbed Steve Fuller instead of Montana. And 25+ years later, nobody would gave a crap what Walsh said about a QB. -

Talk about a contradiction. You state the following: And then you follow up with this: You do realize Walsh made those comments about Edwards well before Edwards stepped on the football field as a pro? So how in the world can you take the opinion of someone regarding a college QB and treat that opinion like it came from an "expert", when by your very own admission such an "expert" does not exist? -

So, based on what you have seen, was Walsh more right or wrong on evaluating QBs? One of the reasons I am so cynical is because of statements like that. Walsh was a good/great coach, no doubt. And because he won three SB (with a QB he did not originally like), Walsh is now considered a "master QB evaluator" But by Walsh's own actions and statements, he was no "expert" when it came to analyzing and evaluating a college QB for the pros. In fact, he was more wrong than right in his evaluations. I find it odd you think my view of Edwards is somehow tied to what I think of Walsh's opinion. You could not be further from the truth. I just do not put a lot of weight into somebody's opinion when history has shown they are more wrong than right. -

My apologies. I should have clarified. Dils was not his "first" choice, but was his preferred choice over Montana in the third round. Regardless, Walsh had Montana rated behind Fuller and Dils. How did those two players turn out? -

He was? You might want to do some research on that theory. Bills Walsh originally did not want Joe Montana, he wanted a guy named Steve Dils. Walsh had to be pushed into selecting Montana by others within the 49ers organization. Walsh was high on Rick Mirer, claimed he had "Montana movement" (whatever the hell that is). Walsh said Plummer was going to be the next Joe Montana, Super Bowls included (please remind of the SB(s) Plummer has won) Walsh said David Carr and Joey Harrington would "both be very, very successful". So, for the record: Walsh had to be pushed to select Montana, correctly chose Steve Young, and seemingly has not been right since. Take Walsh's recommendation of Edwards with a grain of salt. -
Look, you said it yourself: Call it what you want (heart, desire, spirit, dedication, intestinal fortitude, etc ..), but it essentially means the same thing. He lacks the intrinsic motivation to move to the next level and stay there. And that makes it a mental issue. Because he is the only person that can convince himself to dedicate himself.

And Trent Green is ahead of JP? That has to be case of relying on past glory. Since his brains have been scrambled more than once, he is nothing more than one hit away from being an injury liability himself.

As a Bill, reports out of OBD WM did not know the playbook because he never bothered to show up for offseason OTA, etc .... As a Bill, WM admitted in public after a game he did NOT know what down it was when he failed to get a first down on a 4th and 1. he claimed he would have tried HARDER if he knew it was 4th down. As a Raven, WM is now being criticized for not showing up for off season OTA, etc ... (even though he did it the year before) As a Raven, WM is now being criticized for not knowing the playbook. Unless a wrecked knee causes retardation, his problem is not his knee.
-
I think you are missing the point. McGahee has the physical tools, even after the knee wreck. What he doesn't seem to possess is heart, desire, and dedication to perform consistently.

Here is the most important stat of the game; Bills 19 Ravens 14 Raven fans are starting to understand why the Bills were so willing to trade his ass.

THE OFFENSIVE LINE NEEDS A NAME??
Cynical replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about the Bills O-Line during the early 90s? What about the Cowboys O-Line during the same period? Not every great O-Line needs a "catchy" nickname to immortalize it. Actual performance has a way of doing that. -

It already has one. It's called: The Bills O-Line "catchy" and/or "cheesy" nicknames are not needed -
A Few One Sentence Observations

fixed re-fixed. Nobody forced Edwards to make that throw. Kind of like the Baltimore game where Edward's threw a pick. After the game, Edwards admitted the coaches told him NOT to throw that particular pass, but he did anyways. -
Could not agree more. The acquisition was a win-win situation. Everybody goes home happy.

Defense needs to turn back to the way it was
Cynical replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overall Defensive ranks 1999 - 20th points, 29th yards 2000 - 20th points, 16th yards 2001 - 1st points, 15th yards 2002 - 25th points, 25th yards 2003 - 22nd points, 14th yards You're right. Other than 2001, that's pretty underwhelming. Cue the "It's not Dicks fault" crowd in ... -
I'd like to see some of the Jauron bashers around here
Cynical replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you talking about Fairchild? 1.) Newsflash: Fairchild was NOT fired. I know the apologists want to believe that, but, sorry, it is not true. 2.) What steps did Jauron take during the year in attempt to correct the abortion of an offense? or Out of a 16 game season, how many games does the HC wait before taking action to correct a major problem? -

Cynical replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As somebody has already posted: Talk is cheap. The Bills were 30th in points scored last year. Since Jauron made little to no effort to correct the problem during the year, he must have been 'happy' with the way the offense was scoring. -
You forgot to include the 2000 season where Jauron took a 6-10 team of 1999 to 5-11. IIRC, Jauron was also given an extension after that season. Angelo must have really hated Jauron. Will Peters hold out and the fact the Bills will have to play 'home' games in Toronto become the new 'reasons' (a/k/a excuses) Jauron fails? How dare Angelo have no real regard for a HC that already had two losing seasons prior to his arrival. Players loved Wayne Fontes too. Players played hard for him. Wayne is previous Coach of the Year winner. When Jauron is showed the door, I say we hire Wayne Fontes. You are so right. Smith only has a .563 winning average with a SB appearance. Jauron was sssssssooooooooooooooo much better. 32 of those 117 games came as HC of the Bills. Buffalo was the only team interested in Jauron at the time of his hire. It was a real possibility if the Bills did not hire DJ, DJ never sees 100 games as a HC.

Clicks. I hate hover style menus. They may look 'cool' for the kiddies, but they can be a pain in the to navigate in and around.

Tolls would be the least concern. You need more ways to get on / off the island. Two bridges will not cut it. -
will Favre on Jets help the Bills
Cynical replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One problem. You forgot to include we play the Jets - twice. Just as much as Favre could help the Bills by beating "our" opponents, Favre could help our opponents by beating us.
