  1. Eating pop tarts takes on different perspective when a gallon of milk, a box twinkies, and a box of pop tarts are the only sources of food in the house. There is no bread, eggs, no Hungry Man frozen dinners, etc... In your case and in the case of your friend, there is probably more to eat than just pop tarts and twinkies.
  2. I do not know what reality you people live in, but my wife works for a private company that does assessments and therapy sessions for DFACS. One call has no effect, regardless of the charge. Most DFACS workers assume the single call is nothing more than a "revenge" call (neighbors not getting along, couple going through a nasty divorce, etc ..). A call to 911 will get the police out, but here is the checklist the police use: 1. Roof over the kids head? 2. Electric / Heat on? (an extension cord running from their neighbors place qualifies) 3. Food in the house? (gallon of milk, Twinkies, and Pop Tarts qualify as food) 4. Adult supervision? (18 yr old meth addict qualifies) 5. Any sign of abuse to child(ren)? 6. Any sign of illegal activity? (i.e somebody snorting coke in the corner?) If they pass those 6 questions, investigation over, case closed. False alarm. Bucket in corner being used as a toilet and is overflowing? Ok as long as the kid(s) is not covered in it. So many cockroaches that every time you walk you hear "crunch"? Not grounds for removal.
  3. Better yet, since the elections have NOT taken place yet, place a call to Homeland Security on the tip line and inform the gov't the guy is a terrorist, laundering and funneling money to Al Queda. Instant "Enemy Combatant", presumed guilty until Bush decides he's innocent.
  4. How about the Bills scoring 6 field goals and 2 TDs?
  5. Yes, you have recourse, and no, you are not completely screwed. You work, you expect to get paid. Doing it under the table means nothing. Forget about any "revenge". Right now, he owes you 2 weeks worth of pay. You start busting him up, or any of his property, and you could end up owing him money, or worse, in jail. The best revenge is legal revenge. If after a face to face meeting he still refuses to pay, sue (small claims court). And if you really want to be a dick, call the state dept of labor. State dept of labor: tell them you have not received your pay, and you have not gotten any pay stubs. As a last resort, call the IRS. This option will not get you your money, but it will make your boss's life miserable. WARNING: calling the IRS informs them you have received an income. They will expect payroll taxes. For the IRS, it will come down to WHO will pay those taxes to them. As an employee, your employer is responsible to pay those taxes for you (usually). As a self employed person, you are responsible. The trick is getting the IRS to believe you are an employee, and any money you received was 'net' income (income after taxes). If you can do that, the IRS will become very interested in why your boss did not send in any payroll taxes for you for the past 3 months. And they will want that money.
  6. Side Note: Not to be an !@#$, but do you make it a habit of going to the games and NOT watching them?
  7. UB after they lose Turner? Edit: Yes, I realize UB is not 1-AA, but if I understand their position, UB has no intentions of competing with the big buys (ala Penn St., Syracuse, etc ...) as they are more focused on the academics.
  8. This is not a hard concept. When Jauron was hired, Dick went through an interview process. Haslett did not.
  9. Yes! "Separate but Equal", McCarthyism, pre-feminism, ... What "Amerika" was like before the commie libs and the activist judges started giving away god fearing white man's rights like candy ... [/sarcasm]
  10. Kelly took a huge pounding in the USFL running the Run 'n Shoot. Never lost playing time. Heck, Kelly suffered a concussion and continued playing. To compare Edward's toughness to Kelly is absurd. Right now, Edward is looking more like Chris Chandler. Let's hope his past injuries are the exceptions, and not the rule.
  11. And some people thought I was nuts when I predicted this win nearly two weeks ago. Defense wins championships.
  12. A. Joe Ferguson B. Vince Ferragamo C. Frank Reich D. Trent Edwards Answer: D If he continues to progress, he'll make a name for himself. In the future, we will not compare Edwards to anybody else, everybody else will be compared to Trent Edwards.
  13. www.wedg.com Broadcasting from cell phones. Audio is choppy.
  14. You Penn State fans ... yeesh. No confidence in your team going into the game vs Michigan. How do you feel now? Congrats on the W against Mich. Now, stroll into the Shoe, drop 50+, 40+, 30+, 20+, heck, just win and make my prediction true.
  15. Nothing is written in stone until the game is played, especially between bitter rivals. However, of the 5 teams I listed, Auburn is the least of Bama's concern IMO. I expect Tenn to put up a bigger fight. I have no idea of what you know regarding Auburns problems, but Auburn's offensive woes run much deeper than a mere learning curve. The problem is coaching and/or higher, and is threatening to put the entire program in chaos. Recent events have put the Tigers stuck between a rock and a hard place. Tuberville says he is committed to the spread offense, but the only guy on Auburn's staff that had implemented and ran such an offense was Franklin, and Franklin got shown the door. If Tuberville continues trying to incorporate the spread, Auburn's offense will continue to be pathetic, and there is a real chance the Tigers could go 1-4 down the stretch with no bowl appearance of any kind. Certain people in lower AL will NOT be happy. On the other hand, if Auburn returns to some type of power running team, they increase their chance of winning games and a bowl appearance. However, doing that risks losing the recruits Tuberville has already gotten commitments from. As it is, based on the recent events, there has already been a handful of Auburn recruits publicly declaring they are no longer fully committed to Auburn and will look at other options. One of them, DE Montez Robinson, is now being wooed by Bama. If Auburn starts losing recruits to Bama: Certain people in lower AL will NOT be happy. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
  16. Spliced a couple of posts together, and did some editing. Key points are in bold. The Bills can pull out a victory here. Let's not give up.
  17. Sorry. I was not trying to imply they should get rid of the guy, but they would be looking to replace Ellison in the starting line up with somebody else. Ellison is clearly a back up LB, and to call him a "starter" in order to promote the idea a certain draft was good is dubious.
  18. Of course, claiming Ellison is a "starter" is a stretch to begin with. If it was not for Crowell's surgery/non-surgery, and subsequent placement on IR, Ellison is riding the bench this year. At this point, I think it's obvious Ellison is on the short list to be replaced this upcoming off-season.
  19. Tell that to a customer standing in front of you complaining your company failed to honor it's service contract or sold him a faulty product. Do you think he really cares which employees fault it was?
  20. Temper, temper, Ramius. The FSU "Return to Glory" is not happening fast enough for you? You're clueless if you think Saban will leave Bama for Auburn. Auburn cannot match the recruiting clout Alabama brings to the table. Besides, the financial aspects alone pretty much rule that option out. There are a lot of other coaches they could get for cheaper. Tuberville has a $6m buyout clause. If Auburn does part ways with Tubby, and becomes seriously interested in Fisher, I doubt another $2.5m will get in their way. Look on the bright side, if that does happen, Tuberville will be available.
  21. And FSU better hurry. A bigger portion of the Auburn world is getting pissed off with Tuberville. Apparently, questions regarding job security have been asked during interviews. Some of the replacement names being tossed about in the delusional minds of Auburn fans: Butch Davis Brian Kelly Dennis Francione (sp) Bill Cowher Lane Kiffin Nick Saban Bobby Petrino Jimbo Fisher
  22. The Mizzou Kool-Aid, heavily sweetened with UB, Nevada, and Nebraska. Both Gordio and I tried to warn him, but he did not want to listen.
  23. The potential of having Bama in the SEC CG is a nice thought. However, I would rather not think that far ahead. Bama still has to play Ole Miss, Miss St, Tenn, LSU, and Auburn. Ole Miss and Miss St are not great teams, but are being coached by Nutt and Croom. While those two screw balls can make some of the stupidest football decisions known to mankind, both can motivate their teams and spoil the plans of their better opponents (see Ole Miss vs Florida, and Miss St vs Vandy) LSU got buried by Florida, but is still only 1 game behind the SEC West leader Alabama. If LSU were to run the table from here out, LSU makes the CG. And do not think that is impossible. 4 of their last 6 are at home, and that includes the game vs. Bama. While I like Bama's chances vs. Tenn and Auburn, both schools are Alabama's biggest rivals. Anything can happen.
  24. Maybe. But then again I'm not saying Penn St is going to stroll into Columbus and drop 50+ points on the Buckeyes. Penn St is playing good ball, and IMO, when the dust settles in the Shoe, Penn St will walk out with the "W". As for the score of the game, who scores what, and whether or not the spread is covered, that's for y'all to figure out.
  25. IIRC, at the Shoe in Columbus. Too bad for the Buckeyes, it will not matter.
