That wasn't a checkdown - it was the play call. It was dumb because we didn't have enough time at the line, and they shifted coverage at the last second. Nope - offense is suited to like... 3 people on the team. Shady, Tyrod, and the Oline aren't part of it.

I think checking down on 3rd and 13 and 3rd and 20 is fine. You shouldn't be in 3rd and 13 all friggin game. Starts on first and 2nd. Watch the play... it was a crappy play. 3 guys ran routes short of the sticks, 2 guys ran past. they were in a tampa 2 with a deep lying MLB. The only truly open guy is tolbert. The other plays aren't there to be made. Call a better play!

Nathan Peterman to Start this Week.
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will have to beat KC or NE to get in. I remember the Madden projections had us 12-4 and winning the division. And NP had like 2000 yards passing so he took the job at some point... Wouldn't that be something haha -

This is true - so... we should have stopped trying to run a west coast offense weeks ago. Or not brought him back. -
You can't make someone sign here - and i wouldn't have given woods or goodwin those contracts based on their production here. Gilmore didn't want to play here so it was tag or he walks. Gillislee would've been the highest paid backup RB in the league, on a team with the highest paid starting RB in the league.

Now - don't suck. -
Woods and Goodwin were UFAs. Its not like we just cut them.

So... either the locker room gave up on Tyrod. Or Dennison is coaching for his job. -
Got a fair amount of young players as well as a fair amount of pride in the locker room. You want to win every game.
-
Sure - but they're not even close to being a mediocre team let alone a good team.
-
It's more than Watson. They have missed on like everyone in the first round in the last bunch of drafts. Phil Taylor Trent Richardson Weeden Mingo Gilbert Manziel Shelton We've drafted one in 3 of the last 5 - considering you only carry 2 on the active roster that's a decent amount. Decent chance we draft another one this year giving us 1 in each of the last 3 years.
-
Well we at least got rid of most of the non-fits in year 1 instead of slowly phasing them out. Yeah - its working out so well for cleveland... Yup - just gotta hope we got the right guys in the building to do it right this time.

If Tyrod's the Starter, Then Why....?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Once we're out of it - I can comfortably switch because it becomes more of an evaluation. At this point the starter has practiced and game planned with the 1's for 10 weeks - and has a winning record to show for it. He played a terrible game - but lets not act like the rest of the team played well. -

We did have quick throws. They got batted down. If you recall - NP had passes batted down at the line in preseason. It's likely an issue with o-line as much as QB. You bring in a rookie, and you dare teams to crowd the line and confuse him with blitz packages and pickups. Confusing causes turnovers. Turnovers lose games. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Horrible
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looked like they were constantly in tampa 2 and cover 3 looks - and some of the 3rd and long play calls only had 1 or 2 guys beyond the sticks. They're giving you the underneath because they trust their ability to tackle short of the sticks. Screwing up first down in this game is what cost us all day. We had what, one 3rd and short after the first drive, and we couldn't get a yard with our short yardage back. -
The raiders and bucs didn't really expose him... neither did atlanta, or denver. We're not going to win shootouts with peterman either. We aren't a shootout team at this point. We need to run the ball better and get into makeable 3rd down's. It'd also help if we stopped the other team and had some decent field position. We never started anywhere beyond the 25 yard line - all game long.

Anyone watch tyrods post game?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember the 49ers did something like that with Alex Smith and Kaepernick, but it may have been injury related? I can't recall. Also Kaepernick had been with the team for a year and a half at that point. If you want to push the pocket then i'll spread 4 wide and roll shotgun. Pockets are deeper creating more seams for running and passing, as well as making it easier to buy time. The formula to stop whatever we're doing is out there. So... do something different. You can't get the Outside zone working... soooo maybe don't run it? -
The Cap Dilemma in 2018

I think you're thinking of gaines. Johnsons only been on the injury report twice (questionable), and i believe he's played in every game. -

Isn't he the run game coordinator? -
Blame Dennison if You Want, But it's Not the System
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fairly true - obvious exceptions. They played a strong zone game and we didn't call a game designed to beat it. We didn't flood sides of the field, we didn't level out the coverage, and the interior line muddied the pocket all day. He had some time to throw, he just couldn't step up and create time. We had no run game so play action was moot, and it felt like every 3 step drop got batted at the line. The gameplan for this game was very poor - that cannot be argued. -

We're generally worse than last years team in every statistical category. One could say it almost has to be SOMEWHAT related to coaching... It's one of the more major offensive unit changes. -

Right - but if based on certain formations and down/distance tendencies the defense knows what you are doing. It becomes significantly more difficult to make said blocks.
