  1. Not having the extra timeout was crucial, and singletary needs to get out of bounds. Those are facts. 50+ is not an easy kick - but the guy can't make them at all. That's a tad alarming since ya know... every other kicker has shown the ability to make them. Even Vinateri has and he's like 50 years old. The mis-read on the last play sucks... but he also read JB properly and got a boundary pass to the 15 yard line that should've been complete. I thought he did a nice job at the end of both halves putting his team in position to score points.
  2. I see what you're saying but its hard to tell who's blitzing there - and if you guess wrong you could be screwed. The fact that the clock was running (McD burning a timeout on D, and singletary not getting OOB) makes it worse because you just have to make a gut call.
  3. I like the placement, brown had almost half the field to work over there - he didn't look for the ball until it was too late.
  4. No way of knowing whats going to happen pre-snap at the LOS. 9 guys lined up there and 3 to the left. Blitz will most definitely come from the right. Can't set pass pro, can't hard count. If the blitzer on the left drops into coverage you lose the beasley play and you are trying to buy time - which he wouldn't have had.
  5. The last play of the game they crowded the LOS with 9 guys in a pretty clear cover 0 look. Really smart when you think about it though - clocks running, no time to adjust anything like protections or try and hard count to slow rush/identify rusher. You know they're blitzing but with your bunch on the left you have to assume its coming right and people will drop into coverage in the passing lanes. Quick check to a deep throw to JB and it falls incomplete, but i honestly kind of blame JB. Its where it needs to be, he is not. 2 seconds was about as long as he had to get that ball up in the air - its at the sidelines and catchable.. he just didn't get there or have his head turned around quickly enough.
  6. To be fair - rex fired him. He has no relationship with any of the coaches or GMs here so I'm not sure why anyone would expect us to have brought him in. I think the screen game issue has a lot to do with allens athleticism. Teams are employing spies, and adjusting rush angles to try and prevent him from breaking contain. By doing that they're also muddying up the screen game it seems. Look at the last play on 3rd and 4. Clock running, checks to a cover 0 beater with john brown and throws it towards the sideline and gives his guy a chance. Now take that same play and employ gronkowski... that's gotta be like a 90% completion/PI play. Talent would help tremendously.
  7. We spread the field quite a bit and seemed to want to pass on first down for a lot of the game. Offense is just constantly hurting themselves. Penalties, Missed throws, drops. Everyone is making mistakes here or there. 9 new starters on O, but they are taking a long time to gel and its becoming more and more of a problem.
  8. Off-season. At this point the kicker market is awful
  9. Today there was the Knox drop and then the bad throw to brown that stuck out. I like a run on 3rd if u plan on going for it on 4th. Sack on a 3rd down in the 3rd quarter killed one. Offsetting penalties on another one, a failed swing pass to singletery and brown didn't pull in the contested slant. Seemed like they were blitzing on thirds too, had that one where he had to throw to Roberts and no one was open too.
  10. 9 guys along the LOS, no idea who's coming and who's dropping, clocks running, no chance at hard count/cadence, can't set protections... He said screw it, brown 1x1 and it's coming fast because rush is on. Yup. Walked right over em.
  11. Yeah that one was rough. Would need to see the film. I don't hate the late game check he made. Clocks running and you gotta make a play
  12. He's missing them for sure. I thought brown should've been on the sideline more for that fade considering the clock etc. Allen didn't have any time either. Brown needs to get that one.
  13. I think it's to help with the screen game... Where we have struggled a lot lately.
  14. Got rolled for 3 drives to open the game. Stops on the goalline make it better than it was. They struggled badly today.
  15. Now that I think about it though, clocks running. The 2nd down play screwed them. That and McDermott calling a defensive timeout when the clock wasn't running Yeah. Can't fix it midseason tho. Off-season priority I would think
  16. Read option on 3rd down might have been nice. Or an RPO. Keep the reads near the LOS and not throw the ball down the field
  17. We used it trying to get them to jump offside
  18. Sometimes that's by design. I throw to ur back shoulder so you turn ur body away from contact or a possible INT.
  19. Agreed. Allen missed Beasley on third but I may have tried to just... Get the 4 yards on 3rd, clock it to save the TO and try and get 10-15 yards so I can take a shot or something. Either way. Let's not forget the D giving up a 75 yard drive to basically lose it.
  20. They called the one and got PI early. He can't find the trajectory it seems. I know he got drilled on the McKenzie one, but you just need to float that more.
  21. Sure- they also passed up like 4 other fg chances. What's the deal with the other one he missed? Or the one against NE? Are we going to just pretend he's good?
  22. I know he didn't expect blitz.. that's on him. But not a lot of coordinators are jailbreaking there.
  23. I know he was hurt last year. But he cost us this game. And changed the NE game as well.. were also going for it on 4th down in lieu of 50+ yard field goals quite often..
  24. I didnt like that call on 3rd and 3 to not have anyone near the sticks.
  25. I dunno. Drove them down into makeable field goal range in under 2 minutes. Our kicker missed .. again... When Is 61.5 percent acceptable as a kicker?
