  1. He reminds me of the other Davis....Kenneth Davis of our own Buffalo Bills.
  2. or to Nelson. Nelson is turning out to be my favorite player on offense...very unassuming, but makes the clutch catches to keep the chains moving...Nelson is very underrated and will emerge into a very consistent player like a Hines Ward or Wes Welker.
  3. Sort of like the Lee Evans story. How to Impact your team without being an impact.
  4. Other advantages for the Bills: - A sellout Home Opener will be charged up, especially after that 1st week blowout - Short week of practice for the Raiders and a trip across the country - Start of game @1p.m making it a 10 A.M start for the WC Campbell can throw the deep ball, but at the same time can be rattled with some pressure. Close game indeed.
  5. The Super Bowl days were surely glory days..... I will keep to the best moment to recent times....Just 3 seasons ago..... Week 1 - Beat up a hapless Seattle, sort of like the blow out this Sunday against the Chiefs Week 2 - Go to Jacksonville and beat them with a game winning TD Week 3 - Oakland - Down all day, but make a great drive at the end of the game for the game winner Week 4 - @ Rams - Another easy win after stuttering in the 1st quarter. Week 5 Week 6 - Beat San Diego, a quality team, with a very balanced attack. Edwards was awesome after coming back from the concussion. This was also the weird game where the power went off taking the scoreboard with it. The guys were playing football like Street football...only call signs. Our defense made great plays to We were 5-1 and top of the world. Everyone said that we just need to go .500 rest of the 10 games and playoffs was a sure thing with a 10 win season...We won 2 games the rest of the way and spiraled to another classic Dick Jauronish 7-9 season.. But on that Autumn Sunday, we were all on top of the world with a 5-1 record....Best moments indeed.
  6. Last years game against the Steelers...I am sitting surrounded by Steelers fans including my wife and kids and when they showed the shot of Fitz throwing a beauty and Johnson in the end zone, I jumped like hell amidst groans surrounding me, only to change into cheers a split later......It took me 5 seconds to realize that Johnson had dropped the ball untouched.....and that was it.....I had a tough time sitting in that room after that.
  7. Phil Hansen, the very much under appreciated DE of the golden era is going on the Wall this Sunday afternoon. It should be a pretty emotional moment. Phil, who was a very good player in his own right let all the accolades go to the guy on the other end but made his own presence felt in many games. Phil is very similar to another player who will be on the field defending the Bills...Kyle Williams.....If he keeps up how he is playing, one day he will also make it to that Wall.
  8. Also the time of the game may hurt the Raiders. This is a 1 P.M game, meaning 10.00 WC time. Anyways, it will a good and close game just like the last time the Raiders were in town. At that time, Edwards managed to make some great plays down the stretch to win the game for the Bills. Hope Fitz can pull the same magic.
  9. Kelly, You are probably right that Lee did not drop any of the passes, but the OP was way over to say that the Ravens won because Lee was able to let them stretch the field. The Ravens won because of so many other factors...Having Lee Evans was just one of them, albeit a small one. 10. Simon, Living in Pittsburgh for the past decade, I have watched every game of the Ravens-Steelers rivalry. Lee may have helped the Ravens stretch the field and move coverage away from the likes of Boldin and Ray Rice and give them the room to make plays. However, teams don't sign a #1/#2 WRs to be just decoys. They expect them to catch balls thrown towards them. Lee dropped balls. BTW, You are giving too much credit to Lee for this big win for the Ravens. The big reason the Ravens won was because they rushed for 175+ yards against an AGING Steelers defense and the Ravens defense created 7 turnovers. The Ravens turned the Steelers offense to one dimensional and then harassed Ben Rothelisberger.. Remember the Ravens took a 3 TD lead into half time last season too, only for Flacco to make mental mistakes and throw away that game. Lee is definitely a great addition to that team (and for Lee himself), but he was not the big reason for their win on Sunday.
  11. Kelly, The closest situation for Freddy is Ryan Grant with the Packers....and the Packers really didn't pay him the big money.... His biggest weakness is scoring TDs...He simply seems to disappear in the Red zone (Not sure why)....Even in yesterday's game, at the 1 yard line instead of putting his head down, he tried to go in straight and was easily stood up by the LB....If you are the starting RB of the team and would like to be a super star you have to put the ball in the end zone. Hope Freddy does it often this year.
  12. Stats are misleading indeed. The Chiefs had two big runs for 24 and 23 yards that boosted their average to 6 yards per carry...but what is important is the # of carries...The Bills stopped their run game when it counted....when they needed 3rd downs, the Bills stopped them. Having said that, this will be a more close game. However, the Bills do have Home field advantage and can cause disruption to Campbell's game. If the Bills can maintain their balance in offense, they win this game.
  13. You are right in that we need to put the heat on Brady to have any chance. Otherwise, he just has too many targets in Welker, Hernandez and Grotskwoski. And Ben Jarvis has had his dream games against the Bills... On the offense, the Bills have failed to neutralize Wilfork and always had difficulty with the rush from the inside. Can Kyle Williams and dareus provide the necessary rush in the face of Brady. Can Eric Wood neutralize Wilfork and win his one-on-one battle? But before all that, we have to take care of the Oakland Raiders.....They ran all over the Denver Broncos.
  14. I think it will be impossible for any LB or LB Corps to contain the TEs of the Patriots. And if you do, then Wes Welker will make you pay.
  15. I think McGee's salary for the year is now guaranteed as he was on the roster on Opening Day.
  16. Coach Gailey has never felt that Bell couldn't play. The issue that has been troubling Bell has been CONSISTENCY. Now the question is, can he bring the same A game to Ralph Wilson Stadium next week.
  17. As always the Truth lies some where in between. The Bills have improved their team both by better-by-addition and better-by-subtraction. They definitely had a swagger in them yesterday as they dismantled the Chiefs. The Chiefs on the other hand have had a troubled off season, two major controversies in the last pre-season game, and probably looking past the Bills. Kudos to Gailey for keeping the young team focussed throughout the game. IT was very nice to see Dareus bang his head on the false start, knowing that the play puts away the game.
  18. Thanks Bill. Firstly, I would like to join you in offering our prayers to the families of the victims on that ghastly day 10 years ago. I hope time has been a big healer for all of them to move forward in their lives. None of our lives have been the same since the day it happened...We can only hope that sanity will prevail and such cowardly acts will not be committed by the human race, but it doesn't seem to stop...I was a witness just two months ago to another terrorist attack here in Mumbai India with victims all over the place. It is a sad day. The NFL did a great job of honoring the hero's and the country with their opening celebrations. And to make the day great, the Bills finally pounded an opponent, something I had not seen since that 2003 opener against the Patriots. The Bills came out wanting this game more than the chiefs. I believe this team is truly behind each other, but at the same time letting every one play their game. In the past often, some of the players would try to compensate for others and it just didn't work. I am glad Gailey was really able to lit some fire under the team during this mini-offseason. (May be Gailey had the quote of Marv Levy on the locker room walls as to how the Bills were insane to let go of Poz, Edwards, Lynch, Whitner and Lee Evans. May be he challenged his team to play better than those guys and every one of them who replaced those guys did. It was good to see WRs getting separation, good to see the QB throw the ball in anticipation (and not waiting till the receiver is open)....DBs playing man and not giving up that stupid 15 yard cushion as in the cover 2, LBs making tackles of RBs behind the line of scrimmage and yes.....finally a TE sighting!.... Unsung Heros: Bell - For the beating he took in the off season, he came out pretty good Wood - Was a monster taking on double teams all the time. Bryan Scott - 8 Tackles, and a sack...More importantly in the backfield tackling RBs (something never heard Whitner do). Florence - Had a superb game. Never let the WRs get in rythm Kelsay - Yes....Kelsay was actually good, putting lot of pressure on the QB. Dareus - This guy has meant so much to this team. Just the presence of him has created such an aura, it is really amazing and he played exactly as advertised.... And Finally to Chan Gailey - For having his team well prepared for the game (with all the emotions surrounding it) and not letting them making mental mistakes. What a Great Day.
  19. And that was as Big as it gets. The Bills played smart football protecting the football and playing solid defense.. On such a wierd day, when the NFL's stingiest Run defense gave up 180+ yards rushing to the Ravens, while the worst Run defense in the league gave up just over 100 yards rushing...We stop the run, we can be in many ball games. And we run the ball to boot, we can definitely win the games.
  20. It is a Non-Football (Hence non-work related) injury and hence probably comes under HIPA disclosure that restricts the Bills from saying about it unless Easley has signed a waiver.
  21. They also had a better Defensive Coordinator in Wade Philips who was the master of running the 3-4.
  22. Why is it that we either throw and run for 2-3 yards or throw deep....What happened to the Intermediate routes in Buffalo. It has sort of vanished the day Kelly retired. Our QBs just don't seem good @ the intermediate game.
  23. Perfect..and if luck favors us, we may be able to sneak into the playoffs as a WC. It all starts with winning AT HOME and winning within the division.. The bills have to win @ home against their division rivals.
  24. Well...He was claimed off the waiver wire....The bills could do nothing about that....They pick after Carolina, and Denver.
  25. Agreed that this is going to be a close game once again. Again, no one seems to have mentioned the 3rd dimension of the game...Special Teams...Can Lindell Kick in front of the Sea of Red. Will Brad Smith have any impact with the return game. Will Spiller and/or McKelvin used in the return game. What is the capability of the ST of the chiefs? Do they have a reliable kicker?
