  1. As far as the run defense is concerned, I think we should start Star and Phillips and bring in Oliver on obvious passing downs. Right now Oliver is a passing down "specialist" who gets swallowed up in the run game. Use him to create penetration on obvious passing downs. Phillips brings more size, strength and bulk on early downs. Peko is worse that JAG. Losing Harrison really hurts. Offensively, I hate excuses but, we're still young and figuring things out. We should be able to pound the ball more to avoid turnovers. Aside from Josh's 7 ints. he has fumbled quite a bit. Need to limit his chances of turnovers. Allen does need to start hitting his deep ball opportunities when they present themselves. He's getting 2-3 good opportunities per game and just not hitting on them. My main concern is the following stat: IMO, we've played two good teams and Josh's completion percentage in those games are 46.4%(Pats) and 47.1% today. If we're going to beat good teams, Josh has to do better in those games. We have the Skins, Browns, Dolphins and Broncos upcoming. I am not taking these games for granted, but hopefully we can get the run game (offense and defense) fixed before the 4 games that follow. Just my take.
  2. The 1st td run of the 2nd half, Hyde and Milano both got blocked by ONE guy and that's what the rb took advantage of. The 2nd one from the 4 yd line was Peko and Phillips(Phillips got manhandled) and the 10 yd run to the 4 just that lead to that td was with Peko and Oliver in there. On the last scoring drive for Philly, Howard had a 20 yd run from our 41 to our 21 with Peko and Oliver in there. The subsequent td was run to Star's side and he was pushed 2 yds off the line. He actually didn't play bad, especially in the 1st half. The sack by Lawson in the 1st half was all Star. This is not meant to argue, but he was probably the best interior lineman today and wasn't as bad as made out to be by buscaglia vs. the dolphins. Peko is horrible, Phillips was trucked a few times and doesn't even play the same position as Star. Oliver is undersized and better used when we have a lead and need qb pressure. Star is the least of our problems on the dline. We do miss Harrison. Just my take.
  3. They had 3 rushing tds in the 2nd half, mind if I ask which one was this?
  4. That turnover by Josh before halftime was killer. 2 minutes til halftime at our own 25 yd line, up 7-3. Gift them 8 points right there, and they get the ball back to begin the 3rd qrtr. Boom 17-7. They had 3 point to that point. Killer, just killer.
  5. When I saw that last night, all I could think was "What, Barry Sanders!?!? WOW!".
  6. Even at our worst, we were never like this. A close 2nd would be the skins to me.
  7. I just spent some time watching some film of every game this year. A lot of what we say is subjective, but Peko is not good. To say there isn't much of a drop off between the 2 is crazy. In the film I watched, Star gave up ground on 2 plays, 1/2 yd on one and 1 yd on the other. He was constantly taking on double teams and doing a really good job. He is pushing guys back, not all the time, but it's not even close to what you make it loo like. Phillips is a nice addition, but when I saw him in there he was either the only interior guy(passing downs) or in place of Oliver, not Star. When Phillips and Star are in together, you can easily see Star is more stout than Phillips in his play. The Dolphins 1st td was Phillips getting pushed back, not Star. Between you and Buscaglia, I'm not sure what your watching to say he's terrible or even a liability. On Phillip's sack, at least 2 people explained how Star's presence helped, I could be the 3rd, but the film speaks for itself. Is he overpaid, probably. A liability, no way. Peko .
  8. He's waiting for Thielen to show up. Ooh, ooh, I know the answer! Star!
  9. Maybe I'm overreacting to 1 thread, but it took longer than I thought for some to find the replacement to Zay as a whuppin boy. Top 5 d and top 10 vs the run. Without Phillips, who some say is better. Star is still holding his own. By the way, aside from White, the whole d pretty much digressed against the Phins. 1 " bad" game. Talk about overreaction Monday.
  10. The Bills staff that put together this damn good defense doesn't agree with you on the space eater part.
  11. So my statement is correct. His contract is not keeping us from signing anyone. We could sign AJ Green if we wanted to, or anyone else they think would help. Beane knows a lot more than anyone here on what he's doing. I doubt he's pissed with Star. We're a top rated defense and Star is playing his part, especially with Phillips out.
  12. Valid points, no doubt. I still trust the process, Star played really well last year and he's not the dumpster fire he's being made out to be this year. If they dump him after this year, I'm fine with it but we really need him with Phillips gone. I will say, I wanted us to pursue Ndamukong Suh in the off-season. He's making just under $10 million, but he's a big reason they are giving up less than 3yds a game vs. the run.
  13. No. The contracts they worked on getting rid of did. They know what they are doing and for you to think you know better is
  14. too many to count. He's a major reason were a really good d over the past 2 years.
  15. Star's contract isn't keeping us from signing anyone, it shouldn't bother anyone in the least.
  16. Thanks, I was going by a poster's #'s. I'm still glad he's here considering the injury to Phillips and don't care what he's paid. We are managing the cap well enough. Seems folks want to find something to complain about, including Joe Buscaglia. We've sucked for most of 20 years and are 5-1 and getting better. Some people just can't enjoy good things.
  17. MajBob says he's sitting at a 40% rate, and I have no reason to doubt him. This means he's in for 60%, if my math is right. We are tied for 10th in avg yds per carry against in the NFL. He's gotta be doing something right. With Philips out, I am damn glad to have Star. As for his contract, the front office is managing the cap well and knows what they are doing. We are 5-1 and showing very well on defense, I wouldn't change a thing. Dear Star, sorry but you might be the new whipping boy with Zay gone. Just keep doing what you do to help this defense keep us in games while the offense continues to figure it out.
  18. They beat our MIGHTY Bills. Are some of you mad she said Philly will be facing a " pretty good defense" instead of a great one? Acting like or really having your feelings hurt over this is weird. Plus he was answering a question about the Bills not Pats. He didn't say anything that was out of bounds. Josh HAS to play better if we're going to beat the Houstons and New Englands of the league.
  19. Yea, juuling is horrible. Good ole bowl can't be beat.
  20. Maybe I'm reading your "I like this game!" statement wrong. If so, my bad, but my statement was about a point spread. You seemed pissed at a 1.5 point spread. My point was we aren't to the point where we can expect bigger spreads than what the folks who make money doing this have it as. 1.5 seems reasonable to me. We LOWERED Miami's ppg allowed avg and you question a 1.5 spread vs. a much better team than Miami?! Some people are so defensive about any perceived slight of the Bills. If I did read that statement correctly, I am just commenting. No game here. 6-0 has nothing to do with the point spread. If you settle your emotions, you would have noticed the difference.
  21. We are what our record says we are(5-1), but if not for the kick return against the Phins, we are up by only 3 points against an 0-6 team. Hopefully we score enough to win, but we're not exactly an offensive juggernaut. They were giving up 36 pts/g and after playing us that avg. actually dropped. And if not for that kick return, it would have dropped even more. So, yes, this seems right to me.
