  1. IIRC the quote attributed to Chan was that he takes CJ out "because he gets too excited at times," which made me want to throw my TV controller across the room. Spelling the running back = common sense. Taking him out because he's allegedly overenthusiastic =
  2. I still like Mooch, but my opinion of him in light of that statement has gone down a tick. Has he even watched a Bills game recently?
  3. I'd still like to see them go QB early, and then LB. I'd go with WR in later rounds. I'm surprised no one has mentioned CB. I know it seemed like we had a glut of them at one time, but we definitely need help in the secondary. A replacement for Wilson and another corner would probably be prudent. Williams play this year before his injury was pretty terribad. McKelvin is what he is. Brooks could blossom but I'd still like to see them get another decent CB or two.
  4. If he's so aware of the limited talent, why does he continue to place the ball in Fitzpatrick's hands? He has two of the most dangerous weapons possible in Jackson and Spiller, yet yesterday he again tried to squeeze blood from the stone that was Fitzpatrick. I don't buy that he's coaching based on talent. He's coaching in a way that reflects his pass-first, run-after[thought] mindset. And is isn't working.
  5. ^ This. They're trying to win the games now and look clueless. I'm not sure if they need to bother playing to lose. Hate to be so negative on them, but like others, I've adopted the approach of looking for individual efforts (ex. Spiller, Gilmore, etc.) and being happy about that rather than be negative about the team/organization collectively.
  6. Like todzilla said, I'm not upset that Graham is on the field - especially after hearing the excuse that he hadn't picked up the playbook early on. He's got real speed, but it isn't being used with our QB situation. I'm upset that Spiller (and Jackson) are barely used at all.
  7. I will readily admit to being one of them. No question about it. I thought he'd lend some experience and creativity to a defense that, under Edwards, seemed uninspired and underachieving. It doesn't make me reconsider my opinion of Edwards as inadequate, but I certainly have loss faith in Wannstadt to field a competitive defense at this point.
  8. It makes me think the game has passed him by. But then I wonder if the defense he's rolling out now ever would have been effective against NFL offenses.
  9. Haha I know a few of us have mentioned this in the thread but no one seems to notice...
  10. ^ This. Unlike Major League Baseball, where each team MUST be represented in the All Star Game, the NFL does not mandate a representative for each team. Just last year, four teams - including the Bills (the Redskins, Rams, and Titans were the others) - did not have a player selected to the Pro Bowl (although London Fletcher was eventually chosen as an injury replacement). On our squad, I'd say the player with the best shot right now is CJ. Maybe Byrd if he can make a few more big picks. McKelvin could be a starter on the KR/PR unit. I like our offensive line starters collectively but I'm not sure any of them have the 'name' power/exposure to be selections.
  11. This reminds me of Lindy Ruff's vague injury list each year for the Sabres. Would this be considered an "upper body injury" under that system?
  12. On Reid - it would be nice to have a "marquee" coach in town. I wouldn't necessarily be against it, because I'm thoroughly disgusted with Chan at this point. But I'd want to see the alternatives. Of course, this would be dependent on Reid's availability and Chan being gone after this year. Knowing our FO, we'll give Chan an extension during the bye week. On Vick - No. He may pass the "better than Fitzpatrick" test but he's prone to Losman-like fumbles and probably would not improve Buffalo's turnover ratio. I don't want Fitz but I know I don't want Vick either at this point.
  13. I agree with all of this. I expected the Bills to lose yesterday, but thankfully it looks like they have made some adjustments. I was especially pleased with the defensive line. It definitely helped facing one of the more porous o-lines in the game, but if nothing else it was a confidence booster. They took advantage of an opponent's weakness and that's what I hope they do on a consistent basis. As aforementioned, the performances of Spiller and Byrd stand out to me, as well as Mario Williams. I can't blame some people for being skeptical though because I am too at this point. Like President Reagan said, "trust, but verify." I liked the positives that I saw out of the Bills but I still saw the boneheaded playcalling on offense and the lack of execution by Fitzpatrick that leaves me less-than-optimistic about the upcoming schedule.
  14. To be fair, considering that Feely had made an incredible kick just moments before, and the Bills offense tried to hand the Cardinals the game with that ill-advised deep throw resulting in a pick, AND the miss/partial block of Feely's near-gimme of a game winning FG, there was definitely some "luck" involved. I was thrilled just as much as the next fan at yesterday's outcome, including the performances of the D-Line, Byrd, and Spiller particularly. But the Bills tried their damndest to hand the Cardinals that game.
  15. IIRC, isn't there some condition with the trade/contract that is based on games which Jackson dresses? I thought it changes the round of the draft pick Seattle acquired in the deal.
  16. This, a thousand times over. TuneInRadio works great and I've never had a problem getting WGR on there.
  17. Meh, I feel like his article encapsulated exactly what we all were feeling right after the game. Not that it is good journalism, but part of the fabric that is our shared sorrow tapestry as Buffalo sports fans.
  18. In his best Michael Jackson voice: "Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
  19. NewEgg has it on sale for $10 less, $49.99 through labor day. Check this Labor Day sale slinger. Free shipping and no NYS sales tax. Of course, it will take a week to get here, but meh. I haven't bought a Madden since '06, but after playing the demo I was pleasantly surprised. As a result, I didn't get some of the preorder prices (I think the lowest I saw was $44) but this is still better than the msrp. Good luck!
  20. Pretty sure it was intentional, given the context ("...better than those Patriot tight ends...I can't even remember their names").
