  1. Once people understand Ralph Wilson is way beyond building a long term winner, the better you can grasp the state of this franchise. He is in his 90s and simply trying to keep the product good enough to keep it in the black. He will not spend large chunks of money on anything, that's not what a smart business man does, that's what a good football savvy owner does, and Ralph has never been the latter. That doesn't imply Wilson doesn't want the team to win, he simply thinks that it can be done without financial risk, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news to all the Wilson lovers(i really don't hate him) but there isn't an era other than the Polian/Butler era where RW has been aggressive to win a championship. The SuperBowl years happened in spite if him. What happens with the Sabres, and I do absolutely love Terry Pegula for doing what I wish I could do for the Bills, will have ZERO impact on the frugal old man. But I'll watch them till the end in spite of my personal views of the owner, I can't help but love this team even though it has returned to it's former days of perennial mediocrity.
  2. Whatever your views about Chan, it can't be ignored that more fans and media see him as a very good coach, and not one of the previous 3 clowns leading this team has earned that kind of praise since Levy retired. It's about time Buffalo got something right. For what it's worth, I am very happy Mike Shanahan snubbed us, he doesn't look to competent without John Elway or TD running the ball. He simply hasn't done much as a coach since then.
  3. I like the idea of Thursday games, it's nice to have something to watch later during the week, as i am not much of a college football fan or spend a lot of time watching other sports where Buffalo doesn't have a team in the race. As far as an 18 game season, i am against that idea, it's hard enough for these players to make it through the current season injury free.
  4. My comments recently about the upcoming uniforms have been very critical of what we knew was coming. We all knew the helmets were going back to white, I was on the fence about that, but the common notion was that they were going to be a re-do of the 70's digs, and I was very much not excited about that prospect. Even as a kid I hated the long sleeves, blue pants and wide stripes on the jerseys, and the small charging buffalo was kind of weak, but these new jerseys incorporate some very cool retro styling, and have exceeded my expectations enormously. I was seriously pining for the current throwbacks to become the new unis, but these seem to be still very retro, but look tougher in some ways, and I do like the charging logo as much as the standing red one. It may be the only good news we get for a while, but at the very least they improved the team's look in a similar way the Chargers did a few years ago. This new look has that Colts, or Steelers kind of classic look. Now let's play some football you greedy bastards!!!
  5. This has to be sarcasm. No-one with any football sense would want this guy even living near their team.
  6. i have pulled a 180 on the uniforms and think i might buy a freddie jersey. There should be an asterisk to my love of the new unis though... i absolutely HATE the blue pants. hate them. they remind me of 2-14 years, joe ferguson in his latter years throwing tons of picks, they just look loserly. i always loved every iteration of all white jerseys the most, especially the current throwbacks.
  7. you can check my comments in every uniform related thread, and if they stay away from the blue pants, then i say they are much better than i expected, and look great. i obviously loved the white throwbacks in the 2009 opener, but these are very good. i will miss the red helmet though, but am pleasantly surprised. great job marketing team, and i actually mean that, now lets see if you can stay on a roll and kill the bills in toronto series for good
  8. This statement should be stickied somewhere. There's not a whole lot about the Bills situation we can control as fans, and watching a historically poor franchise over the past 50 years is mind numbing. BUT it all starts from the top, and the last statement made in the quote above is sadly the real truth. It's easy to be misty eyed and nostalgic for Ralph, and see him for a wonderful guy for keeping the team in WNY, but what good is having a team if the owner's main concern is financial rather than financial AND winning. I love this team, and we all had a brief taste of the good life when Polian was the puppet master around here, but those days are only proof that this team can be good when a true football mind is calling the shots, and IF I remember correctly, the team was never in salary prison, rather the opposite. You have to start facing the truth that while Wilson is a great man who did wonderful things back in the 60's simply is not very good at making quality decisions when it relates to personnel or staff.
  9. HAHAHA!!! Ron Jeremy was classic, and even funnier was that they called Fred Durst a musician Edit... sorry but Cristie Kerr does not look like Mr. Ed
  10. the only way this thread even makes any sense, and believe me, I was looking for something valid, is if we had someone in mind to challenge him for the job. I agree he had a bad year last year, but I think it's ridiculous to even consider cutting a guy who led the league as a punter in 2009(or was among the top, I can't remember, and don't care to research it) just because he has been our punter during a bad decade. Sorry, but this is the dumbest reason yet to cut a player. Better yet, let's cut Kyle Williams and Darius because Kyle wore those crappy jerseys last year, and Darius because he was drafted while they were our current digs.
  11. I can understand the need to keep things quiet if Jim Kelly truly has a buyers group in place, but it's almost too quiet, like maybe they aren't quite prepared for an inevitable bidding war. Serious speculation of course. I still can't get over the way the future of the franchise has been shackled to a worst case scenario once ralph moves on. there are a lot of rich bastards out there just aching to buy an NFL team that are not from Buffalo, or care about WNY as a whole.
  12. If anything, a team with an owner with one foot in the ground and plans to have the team auctioned off right after the funeral is probably the team most likely to be the one that moves. If there was one glaring reason to support the fan base that should be the most worried, you now have it. you can either ignore this or not, but it's truly not looking good.
  13. Where have you been the last 10 years? Have you seen this team play? Have you seen the previous attempts at coaching, player draft busts, and free agent signings? HELL Yeah a new uniform unveiling is exciting!!! it's just too bad they will debut those crappy 70's uniforms.
  14. For the last few years it has been common practice to try and predict whether or not the team will be in Buffalo after ralph moves on, and truthfully nobody really knows, but it's starting to look more and more like the team is not long for WNY. And for those of you fans that seem so sure the team will never leave have got to either be the most positive thinking people on the planet or truly in denial and kidding yourselves because the indicators that are beginning to pile up are getting way to hard to dismiss. I commend you for your optimism, but i can no longer look the other way. This also goes hand in hand with how people feel about Ralph Wilson, I personally don't find his actions in the last few years as positive moves to ensure the team stays here, and no longer think his motivations are anything but keeping the team in good financial position only until he is gone. Hell I bet he doesn't even buy green bananas, so how can I think this man cares if the team makes the playoffs ever again, especially if we all know he wouldn't be here to see it.
  15. This is very true. After we beat the Chargers at home the media was all over us, DJ got what they called a well deserved contract extension, and talks of coach of the year were tossed around. If the media truly hated Buffalo, they would have blatantly pointed out how that was the worst 5-1 team in NFL history. They didn't, but it's easy to think that ESPN is out to get you when all they mention is how hapless the Bills are. We as Bills fans are thin skinned, and the only cure my OP friend is to win. Ohhh yes... one quick tip, cap locks mean you're yelling, and spell check is your friend. Sorry that's two tips.
  16. That made me laugh... very funny.
  17. Wow... talk about beating a dead horse, maybe she can FINALLY settle this once and for all, it keeps me up at night wondering the obvious...whew.
  18. I am not expecting much out of Marshawn Lynch's career moving forward no matter where he is playing. I just don't see him as anything more than a solid #2 back on a team, like loser mcgahee. It's not hating him, or bashing him, it's just simple math, his numbers are very pedestrian, and only getting worse. To address the OP's thoughts, Marshawn played strictly due to injury, and the absent minded rookie not knowing his ass from a hole in the ground from a playbook perspective simply wasn't ready. What was Chan thinking? Play the most game ready guy till Freddie returns, simple as that.
  19. yea.... we suck, thanks ESPN!
  20. I honestly think this is more a do or die situation for the Bills across the board. So many positions that have under-performing players seems unfair to just make this a do-or-die situation for just one guy. Evans, Maybin, the rest of the receiving corps, Troup, Carrington, I could go on and on with which players need to begin playing well, or begin their post NFL careers.
  21. What a tremendous missed opportunity to have gone back to the 2009/2010 throw-backs. the 70's unis are just not my favorite. To me the team never looked better than the 2009 opener against the paytoilets.
  22. Absolutely. I'd rather see the team spend a little more money on him than spend it on Donte.
  23. A tremendous amount of this measure has to do with how the offense is designed, and how often the team plays with a lead. Looking back over the last few years, it doesn't bode well for Freddy regarding playing with a lead. I still voted yes, even though the top names on that list are impressive.
  24. I shun your attempt at trying to provide actual physics to my point of view, let alone the agonizing video reminder that it even happened in the first place
