Nickname Thread for Dareus...MD
jumbalaya replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Xerxes -
I did not start this thread as anything but a joke for our phallic offensive line. We don't need a scat back but we do need some chuckles.
-
It sounded like Nix would have been all over Gabbert if Dareus wasn't there. I have a hunch he is going Mallet or Copernicus at 2. I hope not, I hope we go Bowers or an LB or a ROT.
-
Bush behind Wood. Let the games begin
-
3 of the first 5 picks are offense, no thank you. Only one is allowed that is for a ROT in rd 3.

For Those Of You Who Don't Want QB In 1st or 2nd
jumbalaya replied to garchat80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None of the QBs this year are no-misses. St Louis and Detroit got the last two and Stafford has durability issues. Half of the top 7 QBs this year won't make it. Of the ones that do only one maybe two will be franchise guys. The problem is that no one knows which one of the 7 will be that franchise guy. We drafted a developmental guy last year we won't know about him for 2 more years. Fitz is average. The only way t win with an average guy is to have an outstanding defense. The Colts, even with Peyton Manning, only won the SB when they had an outstanding defense. They key is very tough defense and a rock solid offensive line. Brady behind a shaky like looks average. Get the right linemen and the QBs and WRs and RBs can look like superstars. -

if Detroit is agreeable I would trade our entire starting defense for Suh. We can replace them with journeymen as that is how we built it. -
What has happened to the NFL owners seems like a microcosm with America. The rich and their minions are simply blinded by their arrogance. And there is nothing worse in a person or a group of people when their arrogance is only exceeded by their ignorance. To be arrogant is one thing, to be ignorant is another, to be ignorant and arrogant is abhorring. The old owners, like Ralph, always had a pragmatism about them and put the league and sport above all consuming greed. The new owners led by Jones, Snyder, Richardson and Kraft are nothing but a bunch of ignorant BSDs. (Big swinging d***s). Well, the lady Judge that grew up in Buffalo, is shoving their BSDs right up their tight ends and they gotta be screaming. The owners screwed up the last CBA and cried for years afterwards (even after Ralph told them they had no idea what they were doing). When this is over they will wish they had the last CBA back. They have screwed up this labor negotiation so bad the league could be in a free fall come Monday. I hope so, screw them and their $10 16oz swill of warm watered down p!ss. I hope she voids this stupid draft. Roger Goodell, who may be a nice guy, but now looks like he is simply a tool that the owners have left alone on a ledge. He is about to take one big fall. He reminds me of Colin Powell selling the Iraq War at the UN armed with nothing but false information. And where is Colin today? A washed up has been that nobody can trust because he was proved a liar on the world stage. Roger should quit right now and let the owners stand front and center and take the heat for the calamity that is about to ensue. F all of them.

Chan's Comments to NFLN
jumbalaya replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Carrington may look big and move well, but he did not make any plays, same with Troupe. Only WIlliams, an out of position 5th rounder, made any plays. We need a NT, we need a dominant DE, we need a speed OLB that can hit, tackle and rush the passer. This defense needs a ton of help. Start with a DE or NT in rd 1; if we take Miller, that's fine but we must take a DE and NT on the next two picks. -
They've been running the Bills without a draft for years.

He was smoking a marijuana cigar...not cigarette. Must have been one mighty big spliff.

Anyone Else Hear Jerry Sullivan on WGR Monday?
jumbalaya replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Riddle me this, Batman. If the first two picks are not QBs do they know who they are taking? Answer: Yes. It can only mean one of two things: 1. That one or two QBs are in Nix' top three and obviously Nix could pick his favorite QB if no 1 & 2 are not QBs. OR; 2. That there are no QBs in his Nix three and Nix would pick the leftover. Possible Bills top three with no QB in the three. Assuming Darues and Miller are one and two. Peterson, Green, Smith, Jordan, Quinn, Fairley, Bowers, etc would be the third.....most of these are defense are easily available in a trade down. Who knows maybe he really likes Mark Ingram. -
My thought is that Dareus and Miller go 1 & 2. Bills decide to bet the farm on Cam Newton. But somebody dangles a trade down deal that we really like, then the deal falls apart at the last second and the Bills brass freeze. Right at that time, a Jets masseuse who for some reason is invited to attend the draft, had slipped a piece of paper between her breasts with Cam Jordan's name and phone number. Albert Haynesworth also in attendance, grabs the paper from between the cheerleader's luscious pair, also retrieving his credit card and coping a feel because that is what he does. In a rush to get out as security makes a move to arrest him, the paper falls onto the Bills table. Nix, almost as old as Ralph, gets confused and submits Cam Jordan's name and phone number. We get the wrong Cam at number 3 but soon find out Jordan is a high character guy with a great motor and a tremendous first step, only later to find he is just not a great football player. Newton falls to the Pats in the first round, Brady gets hurt halfway through the season, Newton turns into the next Brady. Bills trade for Brady but he never fully returns from his injury and is washed up. Ten years later the Southern Ontario Bills (SOBs) are still trying to get to the playoffs for the first time in 22 years.....
-
Don't be surprised if Cam is the man at number 3. Cam Jordan that is. A trade down will not materialize for Buffalo, but Cincy will trade down to #7, get a boatload of extra picks, and everyone here will b!tch that the Bills coulda, shoulda traded down and we still would have gotten Jordan, just like with Spiller, Maybin, Whitner, Evans, Mike Williams etc, etc, etc. Because the guy we always pick in the first round is a guy that only Buffalo likes that early, we are always afraid someone else will take him a pick later if don't grab him now while in reality no one else would have touched the slug for at least another 10 picks.

In a real football game you play offense, defense and special teams. As much as a QB is needed in all Fantasy leagues both an offense and defense are needed to field a real team. I am all for trading down or taking the best player available. AJ Green is the only offensive player that falls into a top thee pick. Trade down and go defense or stay put and go defense.

I have a couple of question that maybe somebody can answer. These numbers are my estimates, I did not research them.... Baseball has 81 home games, Hockey and Basketball 41 each. Football has 8. Baseball has about 25 to 30 players on a team, hockey about 20 and basketball about 12. Football has about 65 or more when counting practice squad and injured players. Baseball has about 8 coaches, managers, trainers or instructors, hockey maybe 6, basketball has 4 or 5 and football has more than 15. The most common injury in baseball is jock itch, hockey has upper and lower body injuries whatever that means, basketball's biggest risk is tattoo-ink poisoning. Football players have dementia, broken necks, ruined legs....long term crippling and life debilitating injuries. A good player can last 20 years in baseball and hockey, about 15 in basketball and very few last 10 years in football. Any player in football can be out for good in a nano second. The average ticket price for baseball, hockey and basketball has risen to where it is close to the same cost as a single football game. Hockey and basketball in many places surpass the cost of a football game. But baseball is not far behind football any longer. Nothing is better than an NHL playoff game, i hate pro basketball so my opinion of their playoff product is jaded, baseball has had some unbelievable playoffs but usually only the WS gets my interest. Football is one and done and the hype around the Super Bowl is rarely fulfilled. Baseball, hockey and basketball are not ruined by TV timeouts. Football has lost its game continuity and no player should be tired in the fourth quarter as it takes forever to get to the fourth quarter and on average about 30 minutes to play the last two minutes of any game. Even having the K-Gun offense in this league could not tire anyone out. Baseball does need to shake up its game and complete games in 2 hours as not many can stomach watching more than two hours of 18 players and 4 base coaches crotch scratching. Why own a football team - TV revenue. Back to my question: 1. If you have a child that is athletic why would you ever let him play football?

3 Days Togo; Bills rumors of 4/25...
jumbalaya replied to KollegeStudnet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our defense sucked with these guys and will suck again if we do not beef it up. We need to draft mostly defense this year. Teams ran against us not because they had the lead, they ran because it was so so easy. They passed whenever they had to and ran whenever they wanted. But you suggest to trade down, draft an OT, then trade back in for a QB. How freaking insane. To waste the first two picks on offense when this defense is in such shambles is idiocy. Only Newton and Gabbert warrant a first round grade and they are bottom round talent (17-32), But you want us to trade back into the first and pick up a third round graded QB - Mallet or Dalton. We did that once and his name was Losman. Not again, thank you. Wait till round three and hope Copernicus is still there. If we do trade down in round 1 and pick up Jordan or Watt, we should only trade back into the first for Phil Taylor, a true NT, because this team does not have a nose tackle and it runs a 3-4 defense. You cannot run a 3-4 defense without a true NT. Kyle Williams is not a 3-4 NT, never was, never will be. Troupe is not a true 3-4 NT either. This defense needs players that fit a 3-4 scheme and we do not have many of them right now. Expand Fitz's numbers to a full year and the offense was not that bad. Not very good but not that bad. Get him an OT in rd 3, move Wood to center and Hangartner to the bench, then pray that Bell answers the door. Then pick up a starting caliber guard and tight end in free agency. Hope that Spiller learns to block as Freddy only has two good years left. Then drop off the key Lee, and hope Easeley is the answer as this offense will always suck if Evans is on it. -
Post draft quote we can count on.
jumbalaya replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even Carolina will use this on the first pick. He has a tremendous first step. -
The draft is the only thing that Bills have to look forward to every year. Football in 2011 will be no better than 2010 in upstate. We will gage improvement by a few more close loss's. Our record will be snot. We will battle Carolina and Cincinnati for worst record and top pick. We will still need a Tackle, a Guard, a Tight End, a QB, a LB, a NT and a DB. Moorman will retire, quitting because of overuse for the last ten years, and when he retires he will still be the best overall athlete on the team.

People Tend To Forget Last Year's Picks
jumbalaya replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TAll playersl need time to develop even if they do and that is still an if as they did not show much you need a lot of quality line man, a lot of them. Taking dareus/fairley/jordan etc in rd 1 and following that up with a true NT is the best way to fix this defense. All of the LBs will look better if they had people eating up the lineman in front of them. As much as our d backfield pass defense ranking is skewed because no one has to pass our LBs are a little maligned because there is no beef in front of them. If we do go VOn we have to take an NT in rd 2 and put off QB for another year. With any Luck we will get him. -
The difference between pick 3 & 6 this year is hard to quantify. The player picked 6th could easily be better than the one picked 3rd. Where it may make the most difference is day two when we pick 34th, with that extra night you have teams thinking about who they want and it may lead to some interesting deals. It will be like having the second pick of the draft, versus the 6th. It could be big. The third day will be similar but not as dramatic.

It is time to replace Lee, I hope Easley puts the slug out to pasture.

Anybody watching these Gruden QB camp things?
jumbalaya replied to Haven Moses's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where do you get off calling McNair overrated? Outside of kelly he was better than any QB the Bills ever had. He was a leader and very dangerous. BTW Newton is accurate. The only con on him is he is young.
