Why so negative after winning season?
artmalibu replied to artmalibu's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of good stuff here, even if we dont all have the same opinions. Winning season against a pretty tough schedule. The AFC west and NFC north were some of the tougher divisions imo. The strength of schedule games didnt work out well for then in the sense that being a last place team they pulled the Browns at 7 and 9 and the Texans at 9 and 7. No excuses but if the Bills had the schedule that some other teams maybe another win or so. Either way I dont feel that the two "losses" of coach or QB were by no means the strength of the team. -

Right, and EJ was 2 and 2 while Kyle was 7 and 6 after getting a handout the last week of the season. So, worse case if EJ starts next year and doesn't improve the difference could be easily made up with an improved running game and better game management from the coach. I would rather take my chances on the best guy they can bring in and EJ over saying Orton is the starter. With the deal he had he would have been an idiot to stay with out an extension. He is collecting next years pay and can go get another job after posting the first winning season in a long time. -
Why so negative after winning season? Really.. First wining season in 10 years and so much negativity!! So the QB who was not so good anyway retires. Thats good that there is no way Orton will go into next season as the starter. They will have to find someone to compete with EJ. So the coach leaves that many didnt like anyway, and it seems as if the players didnt think much of him either. When they hired Doug I bet a lot of guys would not want to coach in Buffalo. Now, the roster is better, and no cap problems. I think its easier to get a good coach now than 3 years ago. Should still have a very good defense even if Jerry leaves, and Kiko will be back too. Ok, no first round pick but many dont believe that the missing link QB is in this years draft. I cant remember that last time after a season ended that I truly thought that next year could be double digit wins! GO BILLS

Woods did defend Hacket said he was told what to do. The radio interview with Woods today was interesting, if you did not hear it you should http://media.wgr550.com/a/100652143/1-6-eric-wood.htm I am excited for next season!! -
Doug made it a point to say that they were building to run the ball, how did that work?

Sanchez never looked so good.

Give us your overall impression of Sammy Watkins

Great player but not worth all the draft picks. -
Its a team game.... Fumbles and dropped passed didnt help.

Clowney may be who we thought he was

Then why not enter the draft after his junior season? -
Bills have two of the biggest dead money players of 2014

That cap space will be handy next year to sign unrestricted players. -
Yes, and there is no one else on the roster with center experience to backup Wood. To make matters worse a bunch of guards and centers have been lost to injury so the out of football quality is poor also.
-
The bills need a starting Guard and I bet anyone is willing to give one up. If so Mike Williams and even one of DL depth guys would be a worthy trade.

Im glad that watched a clip on NFL live breaking down a play where running against a stacked box worked. But if you think that a team can be successful running against a run defense regularly your nuts. If you were right teams would not need to audible out of plays based on the defense alignment. Teams are outright challenging the Bills to beat them through the air by putting a lining up in a defense that is improbable to be successful to run at.
-
The stats dont lie. But, there is good reason why the increased passing and it makes sense!! The defenses they are against are stacking the box which makes it about impossible to run against. This will continue until the Bill can throw for 400 plus yards.

What will they do about this horrid O-line?
artmalibu replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At what point do we need to have faith that the coaches are doing the best they can with what they got. The idea that some guys are playing so bad that the guys on the bench must be better seems a little nuts. I am not a Doug fan at all but if he thought that benching someone would give him a better chance to win he would do it. The problem is they thought they brought a guy in to play guard and he was never healthy and now on IR. At this point I dont understand why they wont kick the Incognito tires, as much of a dink that he is he would be an upgrade. I think you can get away with 1 bad guard but no chance with 2. -
I think its great what this guy is doing. He has great measurables and seems to be learning how to play the game. Considering he was not traded for or consumed a draft pick and is making contributions he is someone we should cheer about and not hate. Some folks around here are only happy when the can B word about how bad the front office is!!

A win is a win, take it. Hard to believe this is a good team tho...

Maybe not the TD but total receptions and yards I would not be surprised at all.. He is a kid with very good physical talent, and only played 1 year of college football. He should get better with time. Here is how he compares to Woods Hogan pro day numbers 6’1” - 221 40 – 4.50 Bench Reps @ 225lbs – 28 Vertical – 36.5 Broad jump – 126” (10’06”) 3 cone – 6.75 20 yard shuttle – 4.15 Woods Combine numbers: 6’0” - 201 40 – 4.51 Bench Reps @ 225lbs – 14 Vertical – 33.5 Broad jump – 117” (9’9”) 3 cone – 7.15 20 yard shuttle – 4.47

considering we dont have a 1st round pick next year I hope we ride the Orton train another year or so. But I dont think thats long term... Unfortunately he is not under contract next year and if he finishes the year well the price could go up and up.
