  1. You and Bandit27 are probably right. My problem is that the defense we run reminds me a bit of the Dick Jauron "bend but don't break" defense. Only we have better players now and, admittedly, better coaching than Dick Jauron and his staff. I'd prefer a more aggressive defense that gets after the QB and stops the run better than what we do.
  2. i just vehemently disagree with that particular call. I understand the theory, it's just that is a "play not to lose" mindset. They let Houston dictate the situation, rather than capitalizing on a position of strength (Bills' perspective) and dictating the situation to Houston. In the end, the Bills paid the price for a conservative philosophy.
  3. Which means they got out smarted by Bill O'Brien.
  4. Who is responsible for ensuring the players know what to do? And why was that particular play call made?
  5. If it is multiple players, that suggests a coaching/scheme issue.
  6. The Charger game in 2017. McD started to blitz Rivers, which stopped the bleeding; too little, too late since LA piled on a 40 point lead by then. I can let that go, but not the playoff game against Houston. They blew a 16 point lead and allowed the Texans to convert on a 3rd and 18 by lining the LBs and DBs 20+ yards off the ball. McD's or Frazier's idea? Probably both were in agreement with the call, very similar conservative coaching styles.
  7. I don't think this is something to worry about. At least I'm not losing sleep over it.
  8. It was complete sarcasm. One would think Marty Hurney is going senile if he considers that trade.
  9. I would think this is just spotrac's guess as to who the Bills will extend and what he views their market value is. It does seem a little early for these three, wait to see how they trend in their fourth year. Some will argue their value will only go up, which I'm not so sure based on the numbers being thrown out there in this tweet.
  10. If Poyer plays out his 2020 contract at a high level, I can see him getting a short (1-2 year) extension when a rookie is drafted in 2021.
  11. What a surprise...all too predictable. IIRC, something similar happened a couple of months back regarding Jordan getting paid for what he's worth, his sacrifices, etc.
  12. That tweet will end up being deleted. And what does she know about rocket science? That would be an interesting conversation.
  13. No, I'm used to getting a call on all personnel matters. ?
  14. Thinking about this, CMC is valuable and I believe Carolina will need some help on defense; I propose giving Carolina both Star Lotuleleii-e-i-e-i-o and Trent Murphy in exchange for obtaining CMC.
  15. Or if he did happen to figure it out and the plays are working, Daboll would switch to something else to stay one step ahead of the opposing DC in forcing a change
  16. Great points mentioned in your post above. I'll add to this quoted selection: -- At the rate of greed and constant tinkering of what made the league great, the NFL has 15 years left of existance.
  17. Interesting contract, to say the least. Sounds like if Brady leaves, NE gets screwed with a $13.5M dead cap hit. Good for them...they deserve it.
  18. And while we're at it, the stupid train whistle, too.
  19. According to spotrac, Brady has a 2020 cap hit of $6.75M and a base salary of $30M; he's not listed as a UFA this year. His 2021 numbers have been voided, so that could be what MJS was referring to. For some reason, spotrac says he does.
  20. I don't think Brady was ever a consideration for being traded in early 2018, either by BB or Kraft. I believe Brady got an extension just before the 2017 season, so he wasn't going anywhere. Interesting...Brady's dead cap in 2020 is $13.5M with a cap hit of only $6.75M. I'm not sure he's going anywhere looking at those numbers...assuming spotrac is accurate in this case. But believing what comes out of NE is almost like believing the economic and corona virus situation data as supplied by China.
  21. Right on. Can we please put the Flutie crap behind us. Flutie vs Rob Johnson <==> SARS vs Corona Virus
  22. Doug Whaley never got a fair shake as GM. Someone else always had their fingers in the pie.
  23. Sounds like Tee Higgins will be broken down more than Sammy Watkins.
  24. I must have missed the important part of your statement, or failed to see what was important about it. SF got to draft Nick Bosa in 2017 thanks to Chip Kelly, who in 2016, got them a 2-14 record which no doubt did help in the next draft. The 2017 season was the first for Lynch/Shanahan, where they went 6-10; hardly a tank and Garappolo wasn't on the team. He was picked acquired in 2018, where he spent the year injured and they went 4-12. Having him helped, but I think Lynch was able to upgrade enough remaining holes to get them to a good place in 2019. Garappolo is not a superstar and will not win without a good cast around him, which Lynch supplied. Looks like Bill Belichick was the first one who saw the Rams as straw men; I'm sure there were others who saw after him, but those were in the minority. Anyway, most see it now.
