  1. Archuletta's assessment of Jerry not wrapping up seems logical.
  2. this is a game we have no business losing
  3. His head scratching, ultra conservative, in game decisions leads to that record
  4. That looked like a fair spot. McD is going to lose this
  5. Kind of looked like an intended fake FG that was poorly executed
  6. Defender came in from the right side unblocked
  7. The line doesn't block well enough for the RB to dance around; hit the hole hard
  8. It was a weird power structure with Russ and from the sounds of it, Overdorf too, having input in player selections. Your second point I'm curious about: "Whaley carries some blame though." In what way do you mean? I'm not trying to be argumentative or suggest that Whaley was blameless (his drafting was very mediocre - EJ Manuel aside). I'm just interested in your take.
  9. Actually, Aaron Schobel was a pretty good DE, and at the least underrated. But I get what you're saying, the FA pickups by this regime have been uninspiring, overall.
  10. Speaking of Overdorf, wasn't he given authority to manage the salary cap and player contracts? If so, that is who you pin the team unfriendly contracts on, such as those of Dareus and Clay. I doubt Whaley had final approval of the financial dealings regarding players, and may not have had any input in that; may have been Russ and Overdorf. Russ was probably more involved in football operations back then than most believe. Interesting that Beane/McD/Pegulas pushed in to the business side of the house and completely away from the football ops.
  11. Sounds like Whaley was GM half the time he was officially the GM. Too many others had their fingers in the pie. IMO, Whaley didn’t really get a fair shake here as GM.
  12. Watt is a FA in 2022. He'll be 33 at that point, and will probably retire as a Texan.
  13. I think there's a Bills bar next to the Eiffel Tower. They serve Labatts Blue, Genny Cream Ale, buffalo wings, and beef on weck. J/K...I've never been to Paris. But if I went there, which I don't want to, and wanted to watch the Bills game, I'd take a laptop and stream off the Reddit site. Probably your best bet.
  14. Yep. May have to add Daboll to that; and if that is the case, it does not point to good things for the offense since the OC is supposed to be the offensive expert. I would believe that McD has deferred most, if not all, offensive personnel decisions to Daboll.
  15. If he would have been any good to begin with, Lee probably would have survived the two bone-headed penalties, or better yet, not have made them.
  16. At least Lee is gone. He did nothing, including block which is what he was supposed to be good at. Yet we released O'Leary ?
  17. Like you, I'm not 100% sold on Frazier, either. But he's certainly not the biggest coaching problem we have right now. At this point, he just needs to focus on making consistently good defensive game plans. Frazier's strength is his ability to coach up the defense, and he's done a good job with that. Having rookies at MLB, DT, and CB is a challenge but they're getting better week after week. It's Frazier's in game calls that I'd like to see be a little more aggressive, particularly when facing better QBs like Rivers and Rogers.
  18. Not surprised. Good for O'Leary. No, O'Leary is not Tony Gonzales or Greg Olsen, but he's serviceable and actually catches balls thrown his way. From what I've seen thus far, O'Leary is better than Croom and Lee.
  19. What if, as pointed out in an earlier post, Daboll is married to his scheme and is stubborn? Maybe Robiskie is trying to make suggestions, but is being brushed off by Daboll? I don't know either way, but those are possibilities.
  20. I'm still not sold on Frazier figuring out the defense. He needed McD to take over the play calling vs Chargers and hasn't put together a consistent defensive plan this season; a couple of really bad plans and one good plan (Vikings against a QB they didn't fear in Cousins). I'm not going to rely on him to spot an OC. Plus, like you mentioned, Frazier has been around the league a long time and is a former HC who most likely developed a lot of relationships with coaches. What is to stop him from recommending a buddy who he owes a favor, or is close to? IMO, this is part of the problem with McD - the good old boy network - which may have worked years ago when the game was less complex, but not today. I don't think McD can spot an OC, or really knows enough about offense. Dennison, and so far Daboll selections, supports that point.
  21. Either Daboll or Castillo's replacement should be selected by the outside third party (some may call them a guru, others a consultant) who would actually understand offenses and have a good idea of what position coaches are ready to assume an OC position. My thoughts on who that might be are meaningless at this point and probably wrong, anyway. But there are people who have been around and studied the league for long enough who would know this. I'd think this third party resource would also know FA offensive players, which I'm terrified of McD having a hand in identifying and don't have a lot of faith in our pro personnel dept at this point. It's not unheard of for coaches to remove coordinators and position coaches mid year, but it would not surprise me if McD is committed to Daboll this season. The bye week deadline might be wishful thinking if a current position coach on another team is identified as a potential replacement. At some point though, the Pegulas should start to wonder if McD has any kind of grasp of offense.
  22. To me this just further indicates that McD knows little about offensive coaching and coach selections. If the offense doesn't start to look more competent, McD should be forced to make some difficult decisions regardless if the coach was just hired, or is a long time colleague and personal friend. Further, if I'm the Pegulas, I'd seriously consider hiring an outside third party who can identify better OC and position coordinator candidates since McD is batting .000 choosing his own offensive coaches. Castillo was the first coach he hired, at least on the offensive side of the ball. Give Daboll a couple more weeks to get things corrected; but if he can't, or the O line is still showing the same type of performance it did against GB, the Monday after the Nov 11 Jets game is probably a good time to make some needed changes.
  23. Oh good, Vlad and Miller will get pushed around on Sunday, and will most likely need help from Bodine assuming he is the center. If I was the Titans I'd blitz all day long, our line won't pick it up and Allen probably won't recognize it.
  24. Must be nice when the top 1 and 2 OT blockers are on your team. I really like what the Rams are doing this year.
