  1. Yah the media are frauds, Vegas is a fraud, and 90% of the US population is a fraud for picking KC to win last week. LOL, it is called an upset. Quit it with the righteous indignation - everyone thinks the Bills stink not because of some great conspiracy to hurt your feelings, but because they have been among the literal worst teams for an entire decade. Hopefully that is changing, but posts like this come off very petty and weak.
  2. You can be critical of this team, the mismanagement, the organizational ineptitude, and their decade of futility and still be a "true fan". It doesn't make you more virtuous to believe that the Bills are the best team in the NFL (you MUST believe this right, or you aren't a real fan?). Thinking critically and objectively aren't negative traits. We are all Bills fans. This is our team. Some love every move they make, successful or failed. Some are optimists, some are pessimists. Whether you think that drafting Aaron Maybin was an amazing value pick or a dumb reach on a one-hit wonder, we'll all be really happy if we ever see a parade in Buffalo during our lifetimes. Enjoy yesterday for what it was - one of the best opening day victories in my memory. Follow the team and feel about them however you must, and don't get so upset when other people say negative things. We all do it different, but we all enjoyed the win.
  3. People really need to get a grip when it comes to the sour grapes bashing of Jerry Sullivan and the rest of the national sports media. Thread after thread bashes him, ESPN, various radio personalities, etc. all because they disparage the Buffalo Bills. What the heck do you expect people to say about a team that has been just about the worst team in the entire NFL over the span of an ENTIRE DECADE? Do you honestly believe that any journalist would have a job (save Chris Brown, perhaps) if they wrote positive things about such a historically impotent team? Seriously - what do you expect folks to say about a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in a decade?
  4. Do you have any idea how much money Lee Evans was due this year? You should do a little research and educate yourself before you spout off the same old "we traded Lee Evans to save money" baloney. Also, the Ravens hung 35 on one of the best defenses in the league. You'd think that their powerful offensive weapon Lee Evans must have had a field day. How does zero catches grab ya?
  5. Some of us love them, some of us love to hate them. Some of us defend them, some of us attack them. Some of us hope unreasonably, some of us fret pessimistically. Nevertheless, the Buffalo Bills are OUR team. Whether you're hoping for a championship, or looking for a glimmer of hope to build upon, here's hoping we all find something to feel proud of this year. The Bills WILL rise again, and one day, sooner or later, the league will respect us and opposing teams will fear us. So raise your beverage of choice, and let's get this started. Even the worst Bills season is better than the offseason. GO BILLS.
  6. Charles for two fifty And a backup quarterback Drive Bills fans to ledge.
  7. Last year, Moorman was 23rd in net yards per punt, and 24th in gross yards per punt. Only 2 regular NFL punters had fewer punts inside the 20. While he is a bottom-of-the-league punter now, the consolation prize is that punters don't really matter that much. He is a cool guy too. He does lead the league in ripping off his chinstrap in disgust though
  8. Evaluating running backs solely on career yards per carry average is pretty dubious, and throwing out some folks that don't jive with your conclusion is questionable as well. Even so, you only get 14th best, which is pretty darn close to average, and nowhere near superstar. That list also doesn't include some other players that I can think of off the top of my head, i.e. LaGarrette Blount (5.0ypc career average), LeSean McCoy (4.7ypc career average), etc., and pretty much every team would take them over Fred Jackson and I'm sure there are more. Just saying. Even in the best case of stat jiggering, we can get him up to maybe middle of the road. Eww. Again, I'm not comparing Spiller and Jackson. Jackson might be 100x better than Spiller. Spiller probably stinks. But giving playing time to untested young players rather than declining veterans is a sound decision on a team that is not in a mode to compete for at least a couple years.
  9. Don't forget that free agents have a choice where they want to play. If you were an NFL player, would you rather play for the Ravens or the Bills? Not certain that the Bills pursued McKinnie, but teams call agents all the time and are told that their player simply doesn't want to play for them.
  10. I'm not saying Spiller is any good - he'll probably be a bust. I'm merely commenting on fans' general over-valuation of Jackson and the theory that developing younger players with "potential" on bad teams is sound.
  11. I generally agree, and we're looking at best 4 sell-outs this year (3+Toronto), but trading Lee Evans isn't a cost cutting measure. His salary (after the roster bonus this year) is literally less than the Bears are paying their punter. We're talking like 3 million bucks, so I wouldn't sweat it.
  12. You know you are a delusional Bills fan when you catch yourself thinking that Fred Jackson is some kind of elite NFL running back. He is at best average, and honestly just a lower-third NFL running back talent. Fans love him because he came from nothing (small school, NFL Europe) and made good. Blue collar, good guy. But seriously - every week in the NFL you see eye-popping performances from elite running backs. People describe Fred Jackson with such high praise as "consistent" and "falls forward" and "picks up blitzes well", but you'll never hear someone describe him as an "electrifying touchdown machine". The team stinks, and Jackson may well be in a nursing home before they are competitive. Giving the young players more prominent roles on the team is what just about everyone here begs for 24/7, but folks get butthurt when it is their beloved Fred Jackson. I hope he plays really well this year, but honestly his performance is almost entirely irrelevant to the future of the team. Might as well roll the dice a bit and try to strike it rich rather than bore everyone to death as per our usual modus operandi.
  13. Please don't ever post again. Thanks! The "jerk offs" at ESPN hurt your feelings because they say mean things about the football team you love. They said the Bills would stink last year, and how wrong they were. Also, that John Gruden guy doesn't know anything about football. I mean, what has he ever done?? Lol.
  14. Don't forget that you can't make him play in Buffalo. He will have multiple offers for his services.
  15. Not convinced he will show as dominantly against a real offensive line in real game action, BUT... It is highly enjoyable to watch a Buffalo Bill with some fire and desire and is entertaining and dynamic. For too many years our hallmark has been boring teams into submission and making everyone wonder if the stoic demeanors were professionalism or indifference. Three cheers.
  16. Funny to see who has always been a homer and who could call a spade a spade. Very insightful on some current posters...
  17. Hello there. You are wrong. Kindly never post again if you are just going to make up stupid crap that is factually inaccurate. The Bills kicked off twice, once after the first quarter field goal (2:00 left in the first quarter / 0:28 minutes into your DVR'd recording), and to start the second half - both times from the new 35-yard line position. Only the Bears first two kickoffs violated league rules. Apology accepted. The first kickoff was fielded at the 2, and the second was fielded out of bounds at the goalline. It has been speculated that the touchback percentage should be around 40% this upcoming season - right around what the best teams were seeing in 2010-2011. By contrast, the Bills were toward the bottom of the league at around 11%. With the new rule limiting players to a 5 yard run up, the importance of kicking touchbacks figures to be massively increased. Teams that do not have a kicker who can produce touchbacks will give up hundreds of yards of field position and numerous touchdowns to boot. Because finding a person who can kick a football for a touchback nearly every time is trivial and costs only a minimum salary and a single roster spot from a scrub player, you will see those organizations who are on top of the rule changes have a big advantage. I'd like to be one of those teams. This isn't a knock on Lindell or his leg strength. His leg strength is perfectly adequate (though not nearly elite), and I feel he is a fine player who shouldn't be cut or anything silly. Many good place kickers lack elite kickoff strength. That is why a specialized player should be a must this year.
  18. If he could kick a touchback, he would. There is absolutely no upside to doing anything otherwise.
  19. So when the regular season starts, we'll see touchbacks every time then? We were seeing kickoffs between the 5 and 10 last year...was a different strategy in place then?
  20. To put it a different way: Your team is starting Erik Pears at right tackle, yet Chris Kelsay is stuck in your craw?
  21. He certainly helped turn their franchise around, but you are delusional if you think that the "Patriot Way" means nothing. I know it hurts, but there is a reason why Bob Kraft and the Patriot organization are the gold standard in the NFL.
  22. Agree. I'm also pretty sure that April wanted out, not that I blame him or would have done something different in his shoes. Also, it is embarrassing to me that with the new kickoff rules, the Bills couldn't find one person in the world who would take the league minimum and a roster spot from Aaron Maybin to kick a touchback every time. Without the running start and with Lindell's weak kickoff leg, we are going to be shredded. I am surprised they didn't see this coming as I'm watching game after game with teams guaranteeing their opponents start position at the 20. We might not see that happen once all year and will be flushing hundreds of 'free' yards down the toilet.
  23. At least when we get crushed on the road this year, we will actually look like an NFL team. Thumbs up.
  24. Agree with all points made, except I'll add that Wrotto doesn't confuse me - he is simply terrible. Urbik also looked clearly out of his league.
