  1. Leaving the sticker on the cap was meant to show that the hat was bought new and that it was not a counterfeit knockoff. Same reason people left the tags on Timberlands and Nikes years ago. It was a status symbol to show that you bought the gear at the mall or some real retailer and not out of a trunk full of counterfeit merchandise. Not saying it doesn't look stupid or whatever, but that's the answer to your question. Funny thing is, the knockoffs are now manufactured with stickers/tags as well, so while the meaning is long gone, the "style" remains. To me it's tacky, just as if you were to drive a car around with the dealer's sticker in the window so everyone can see how much you paid for it.
  2. We must be about the same age- I remember soaking the brim then rubbering banding it around a pop can and letting it sit for a day or two.
  3. Ouch! that sucks. Are you using an iphone/ipad or an android device? if you have an apple device you'll have to download a browser that supports flash to use the site I mentioned above. I recommend SkyFire. II think it's 3 bucks and is worth it, IMO, for streaming TV sites and other Flash stuff that safari doesn't support. If you have an Android device, it may depend on the browser. I haven't had a Droid in a while, but I think streaming sites worked on the stock browser. I know the Dolphin browser supports Flash but idk if it is still free.
  4. There is a WatchESPN app, idk if that's what you mean. It's different than the ESPN Scorecenter app which only has play by play for the Euros. For the WatchESPN app, you'll have to log in with your cable account info same as the espn3 website. Or get a friend's info. I don't have cable TV, so I use my parent's cable account.
  5. If you have cable and already pay for espn you can watch it online, just go to epsn3.com. You will have to verify that you subscribe to a cable package that includes espn, which is easy if you know your account info, but maybe a pain if you have to look it up. I'd give it a test run sometime before you're at work and may not have access to figure that stuff out. If not there are some reliable streaming sites. My favorite is

  7. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and yours
  8. To be clear, I was referring to England parking the bus. It's refreshing to see Italy put the pedal to the metal with their relentless pressure. It is a testament to their talent and fitness that they didn't wither like Ukraine did when England allowed them to pretty much run free in their own end. Also, I forgot to give Pirlo a big for the Panenka PK. Talk about coglioni!!
  9. I know there's a lot of England fans here, but it would've been a travesty if Italy had let them get away with stealing another game. That "park the bus" junk is so wack. Then again, if Italy can't capitalize on even one of a ridiculous amount of chances, maybe they don't deserve to win either. Congrats Meazza, but I got to warn you: If Italy can't figure out how to finish they are in big trouble Thursday. Certainly Germany won't give them all those chances, and they're bound to generate a slew of their own. Even though I think Germany's talent outweighs that of Italy's squad in this tournament, Italy's got some dangerous players which should make this a match for the ages. *Bart Scott voice* "Can't wait!"
  10. Of all the topless protesters in Ukraine, you had to pick this one?!? :wallbash:
  11. You are correct sir. Since Ukraine is out I'm pulling for Germany to win it all. I mean, I was anyway since I picked them in my bracket, but now they have my full support FWIW. In other news from the world of Flap, earlier I saw a tweet that gave me a chuckle: You can take Ukraine out of the tournament, but you can't take the tournament out of Ukraine.
  12. You can't just drop kids off any-ol'-where. The sad part is that you don't see the real sad part in that these kids have zero respect for adults and authority figures. (Whoa! Inception sadness!) What people also aren't seeing is that these are the kids of parents who got a trophy for everything; This is a new generation of entitled children. Too many "adults" (and I use the term loosely), have an exaggerated sens of self-importance paired with a warped concept of personal responsibility. If these kids' parents did their job as parents, the bus aide shouldn't have to deal with a scathing attack in the first place. But it's her fault for not being a B word? Even when you were in school, not every teacher or authority figure was a ruthless dictator. Do people really expect every adult involved to be breathing down kids' necks? Or is it at all reasonable to expect kids to behave like they have an iota of respect for others? I'll grant you the schools are reluctant to suspend kids because it makes them look bad. If you suspend less kids, you instantly have data to "prove" you are doing a better job. But what can a school do that a parent can't do better? Bingo!
  13. You do realize I am by no means blaming poor people for anything? I'm criticizing the same post you are.
  14. I hate to paint with such a broad brush, but I'd wager 99% of the people you are trying to shame out of using food stamps and other social programs aren't embarrassed by things like that. If friends, neighbors, relatives are in the same boat and also receiving these types of benefits, why would they be embarrassed about it?
  15. Only racists search "welfare office" on youtube
  16. I remember last WC when England wuz robbed too, so I don't expect any sympathy from your side. I accept the missed call but it doesn't mean I'm happy about it. At least I can look forward to some great matchups. No doubt Italy v England will be entertaining and Spain v France could be special, although France looked dull today as far as I can tell from the limited highlights.
  17. Guess I got to throw Stevie under the bus to agree with you, but Fitz would've won that Steelers game two years ago and the Jets one last year if SJ could've pulled those in. But let's not get too revisionist here. The real issue is not whether a mediocre QB can win a Super Bowl; It's whether or not the Bills can win with Fitz. I say yes!
  18. SO NO ONE IS GOING TO MENTION THE DISALLOWED GOAL?!?! jk whatever - there was a missed offside call too, right? Then again, there are missed offsides every game and that's accepted as part of the game. Yeah I'm the guy who said he didn't want replay. I changed my mind. If you're going to go so far to put a guy on the goal line for the sole purpose of determining whether or not the ball crossed the line and the guy can't do it- what more of an argument do you need for the use for video? The technology is literally in place! There are multiple cameras right there already. I'm mad about that, but not nearly as mad as Ukraine not being able to capitalize on one of the many chances they had- in the first half especially. Sheva should've came in the minute Rooney scored. The rest of the squad was exhausted by the time they got him in. Rooney's goal was lucky. Two deflections kept the keeper from snuffing that out. Gerard did roast his man tho, so I'm more mad about that. All in all a good game by England- I'll tip my hat to them. Their strategy of letting Ukraine tire themselves out worked. I only wonder if there was any momentum to be gained if Milevskiy's goal was allowed. :wallbash: :wallbash: :bag: :bag:
  19. FWIW, Karagounis got a yellow yesterday for diving/embellishment. The play itself was a close call but since he's a serial diver, he's not going to get the benefit of the doubt from the ref. I don't know what can be done to curb the diving epidemic - it's a slippery slope from the obvious dive to the "well, he might've been able to stay on his feet." Then, when you overanalyze these plays in slow-motion, the play itself becomes distorted. I don't want replay reviews during the game. Maybe after the games, if it is surely a dive or there's some phantom contact, you can book or fine the player. But again, you'll still be wandering into that slippery slope territory. For every undisputed dive there will be a disputable call, even with the "aid" of a replay. Also, I get why the games are played simultaneously, but it's still wack for the audience. Wouldn't you guys rather watch two games back to back than try to juggle two at once? I know there's no practical alternative, I was just venting.
  20. I was going to start a new thread, but I'll just mention it here. One of the big things people forget in the relocation discussion is that despite LA's huge market/population- the football aspect of it is pretty much cornered. So, would it be wise for an owner to take a risk on establishing a "new" franchise and try to compete with a number of other interests/options? I think it is a better idea to cater to an established fan base that isn't as small or poor as people seem to believe. When you include the Rochester market, the Bills area of influence so to speak is on par with a number of other markets- on the lower end, yes, but certainly in the same league (pardon the pun). Other areas of the country that are comprable population-wise and GDP-wise already have a football franchise in place that their constituents root for- whether NFL or NCAA. The only real exceptions in the Continental US would be Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Feel free to correct me if I am forgetting someplace. But I'm not trying to argue the viability of an expansion team no matter what competition for gaining fans/selling tickets/etc. might be, but I think when we start talking relocation, you are talking about an owner thinking, "Do I risk trying to build a new fan base (which would almost certainly be predicated on "stealing" fans from another team's base) while walking away from a "sure thing?" On top of that risk, the cost of relocation would add hundreds of millions of dollars to the price tag of just buying the team (due to stadium and infrastructure costs). It seems like the prudent business move for the future owner(s) of the Bills is to stay in Buffalo, where the market/fan base is established. Sure there is a chance to make more money in a bigger market, but as the saying goes - "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Am I way off base here? What do you guys think?
  21. So wack that the games are played at the same time each day for the rest of the first round.
