  1. Allen needs 25 more TDs this year to set record of most offensive TDs in 1st 5 seasons

    https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-stats-and-records-week-4-josh-allen-captains-biggest-comeback-of-career

The 2018 first-round pick now has 147 career offensive touchdowns, tied with Peyton Manning for the fourth-most in a player's first five seasons in NFL history. Allen needs 25 touchdowns in his final 13 games of 2022 to break Hall of Famer Dan Marino's NFL record of 171. He would also pass Cam Newton (160) and Patrick Mahomes (159) on that list should he do so.

Also, Allen had his 22nd career game with at least one pass and rush touchdown, the second-most by a player in his first five seasons in the Super Bowl era (Cam Newton had 31 from 2011-15).

It was fun in my section.  You could feel the game changing.  We had a LOT of VOCAL Ravens fans in my area.  They were talking trash and loudly.  But that drive to end the first half really turned the tide in that game.

The running back room had a rough day.  Singletary with drops and a fumble.  Cook drops (not seeing "it" with him so far) and Moss running for few yards.

Glad you got to see a win, my friend. Must have been a great feeling being there in person. It hasn’t exactly been a great place for the Bills to play over the years…

    3. The concern for Miami without Tua would be that I don't think McDaniel has yet got the run game going which is something of a surprise. They run well enough to open up the play action and RPO game, but I am not sure Teddy Bridgewater is going to be capable of making as many of those big chunk plays as Tua has the first 3 weeks and their passing game isn't consistent enough to dink and dunk without the run game contributing.

    4. For all that, things are not rosy in Bengal land either. Their offense is increasingly boom or bust. For the most part last night it was big play to Tee Higgins or punt. They need to work in more Hayden Hurst and Tyler Boyd underneath at some point and Joe Mixon is finding no holes in the run game. Thing are still not clicking there for me, despite the offensive line at least getting to average last night for the first time this season.

I think Tua is better suited for McDaniel's offense than Bridgewater. It seems neither the Bengals nor the Dolphins can consistently move down the field in a "dink and dunk" fashion and, to this point in the season, both seem to live and die by the big play.

After the brutal injury Tua suffered tonight, there's been a lot of discussion with how the Dolphins handled his injury.

More importantly, Tua is a human being dealing with an injury that could affect him for the rest of his life. Let's give him some support and show everyone why Bills fans are the best in the world!

Tua has a charity called the Tua Foundation that supports a wide variety of Youth programs. Let's send in donations in the amount of $17 to show him that we are pulling for him to have a full recovery!

I did. Wishing him a full recovery.

I’ve seen similar hits flagged for unnecessary roughness several times.  The refs gave us nothing on Sunday.  We lost to injuries, the weather, the stadium, the refs, Van Roten and a couple nice defensive stands

Agree on all points. I won't say Wilkins intended the helmet to helmet; however, it definitely was and I've seen similar plays flagged.

He took a wicked lick in the Dolphins game.  The LB blind-sided him with a helmet to helmet hit.  I'm surprised the refs did not call a penalty.

As much as I think Wilkins is a dirty player, I will give him the benefit of the doubt as to his intent to deliver a helmet to helmet hit. However, it was a pretty vicious hit, with his helmet hitting Knox right in the face mask, and then driving Knox' upper body backwards over the other defender. I was actually surprised Knox held on to that ball. He's a tough kid.

The question posed by the OP is an interesting one, and I think it's certainly valid to look into.  I'm not totally sure what the answer is.

I remember Tom Brady making related comments maybe 4 years ago.  He said a lot of QBs in the league run "wasted plays" meaning if they were doing their homework, they should have seen that what they called is not going to work based on what the D is doing, but they don't know that, so they run the play and it becomes a "wasted play" as it had no chance at success and maybe loses 1 yard, no gain, or gains 1 yard...

Brady said he "hates" those types of wasted plays and trys to ensure that he never has them.  I'm sure, over the long term, that's one of may reasons why he's the best of all time.

So is Josh running "wasted plays" and he just doesn't know it yet?  How would anyone here know?!

He very well might be.  I think it is clear and obvious he has gotten better and better at the mental side of the game, and he continues to evolve and get better.

As his mental side of the game catches up to his physical talents, he'll only get deadlier and deadlier.

Maybe he still has a way to go in pre-snap recognition.  Seems logical to me.

I believe Allen is regarded (by those that matter) as one of the best QBs in the league in pre snap recognition. I'm sure he gets fooled here and there. Even the best of them do. However, I doubt his inability to see things pre snap he is the reason for the Bills run game problems.

Perhaps.  High ankle sprains are serious injury.  Tua missed a season and it took him a full season to get right after the surgery he had.  Mocking the injured isn't something I am interested in with few exceptions.

Yeah, not a good look. Besides, from a mocking perspective, Jones is a target rich environment without having to go there...

You can play that game all day long though. When it came time to make a play, the Phins did. Can’t say the same for the Bills.

On that Sunday, they were the better team on the field. They made less mistakes, made plays when they needed to and kept the Bills off balance. I don’t think they’re better than the Bills, but that’s why they play the games.

They won the game. They were not the better team. It happens.

I have a feeling that Burrow rips them apart on Thursday and brings them back down to earth.

Assuming they don't rip up Burrow first, I don't think he makes it to the end of the season at the rate he is getting sacked.

I hope so, but I just don't know if the Bengals can withstand all that blitzing that the Fins do. I've watched all of the Bengals games this year OL has been bad in passing situations and Burrow has poor pocket awareness and holds the ball too long.

I think, if the Bengals' Oline holds up, they win.

Although, Miami is riding a bit of a lucky streak at the moment. It took a complete meltown by the Balt defense and a miraculous 4th quarter by Tua (almost 30% of his total yards and 50% of his total TDs for the season in one quarter) to beat Baltimore by 3 pts; and missing players (injury and weather related) and miscue after miscue by the Buff offense to beat the Bills by 2 pts.

I don't believe it is a sustainable way to beat good teams, but they are having a bit of good fortune right now.

Miami isn't that good. They are formidable but no way are they number one or better than the Bills.

If they want to put Miami at #1 because they are 3-0 and beat the former #1 team (Buffalo) and the current #6 team (Baltimore), fine. It's a power ranking and doesn't mean anything at all. I think Miami is a good team and a playoff caliber team; however, I personally would have them somewhere around ten.

The problem is that the big plays against this defense happen at crucial moments, whether it's the playoffs in KC or moments that swing the momentum for good like Miami last week.

This is why I maintain this team is never going to the promised land with McDermott. This defense always looks great on paper in terms of the overall stats, but it simply doesn't work when it matters most. And situational football awareness is simply not something McD can handle.

Factoring in the 13 seconds in the KC game and the 3rd and 22 in The Mia game, I would have to say they are still much better at calling defensive game plans than you are at evaluating them.

The Dolphins averaged the same yards per play we did (5.4 vs 5.5).

There is no getting around that. It’s a fact.

They also scored more points than our offense.

I would say the biggest difference in drives is that the Bills went for 3 fourth downs. Dolphins elected to punt in those situations instead.

The Fins couldn’t gain more than 20 yards on 4 of their 7 drives and were gifted a TD on another drive. Most of their yards came on 2 plays - both against players that probably wouldn’t be on the field in any other circumstances. If you take away those 2 plays they averaged 2.1 YPP for the game. Take away Buffalo’s 2 biggest plays and they still averaged 5 YPP.

As I have said before, Miami is a good team and they made every big play they had the opportunity to make yesterday. But they needed (1) to make every one of those plays, (2) the Bills to be short handed 7-10 starters at any given moment of the game, (3) Buffalo’s offense to make all the mistakes they made, and (4) Buffalo’s offense to be absolutely gassed in the 4th qtr because of the weather and being on the field so long - just to win by 2 points.

The secondary played admirably and I commend them for it, but that playcall did them no favors. I suppose I would’nt be as upset if it was the first conservative approach that the Bills have been beaten on, but to see the pattern over and over in big moments is what has me at a loss. Ask yourself this, could you imagine being a defensive coordinator who’s playing the Bills and you rush 3 against a 3rd and 20+ while only leaving your two inexperienced safeties deep? I think everyone here would thank that defensive coordinator for the gift, but because it’s Frazier and he’s employed by the Bills, he gets more leeway.

Sorry, but I’m just going to agree to disagree here. Frazier and McDermott know what they are doing and their track record in how their defenses have played in Buffalo are proof of that. Big plays are going to happen and they happen to every team. Sometimes they happen in big moments. That is football.
