I think the human race is a short story with a surprise ending. The surprise being that for all of our wars and disagreements, religions and beliefs and pursuit of extraterrestrial life and belief in aliens... ...there is nothing out there. We've been talking about, worried about and occupied about...fiction. There's no apocalypse coming. No zombies. No God from the heavens. No leprechauns granting wishes, no gods answering prayers. No aliens in spaceships. Life will just keep going and going and going for as long as the sun is around. Rather boring in a way. I've always wondered if the human race would be better off knowing conclusively that we are the only game in town and that there is nothing "out there" and you don't go anywhere after you die. You're just dead. Wonder if life would be valued more. Or society would fall apart without anything to believe in or dream about.

First and foremost a Bills fan but I'd enjoy seeing a Cleveland Browns revival. I'm bored with the Steelers and Ravens. Much like the Bills, they've been away for too long.

I say yes. I thought he looked pretty good without the advantages of a full offseason of preparation and practice. For him, I think overall physical condition is a big factor here. If he comes to camp fit, he'll be real good.

Can we talk about backup QB for a minute?
dpberr replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think part of the reason Fitzpatrick played while hurt was a lack of faith in Thigpen by Gailey. Even substantially injured, Fitzpatrick gave the Bills a better shot at winning. I wouldn't mind the Bills drafting or bringing in any potential upgrade over Thigpen. He showed nothing last year. -
There's talk that Kalil could slide out of the top 10.

Thanks for this. I literally LOLed. Made my day. -
I like the new prime time setup. I wish the league would find a way to stop the "tipping" of picks. That isn't only awkward but takes out any semblance of anticipation when the pick is read at the podium.

FYI: OT Mike Adams tested positive at Combine

The thing about a draftee on pot is that you may end up getting the Michael Beasley of the NFL. Beasley was an incredible NBA talent, the #2 pick of the 2008 NBA draft...but his problems with pot affected how he played in turning him from a #2 talent to just another guy. As an organization that's ready to drop millions of dollars on a player, why bother with the problem? Let somebody else deal with it. -

Well there goes any idea of Adams being in a Bills uniform. Did you guys read where Mayock says that Vontaze Burfect is "non-draftable"? Ouch. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/19/mayock-calls-vontaze-burfict-a-non-draftable-kid/ -
I will be the dissenting opinion. I believe he will be in the Hall of Fame...eventually. He'll be the "last year of eligibility" guy. His trips to Washington and Minnesota did not help his candidacy. In the present, they certainly did more damage than benefit. McNabb is going to be a historical selection...after those memories have faded of him in a Redskins and Vikings uniform. However, the Eagles were a lousy franchise and team when McNabb was drafted in 1999. He was the keystone of those very good and great Eagles teams and he racked up a lot of those stats with guys from the stands at wide receiver with the exception of having T.O. in 2004. He's got a handful of pro bowls, a player of the year award and good enough stats to be within the top 15-20 quarterbacks. He also holds almost all of the franchise records.

Removing alcohol from NFL stadiums would go a lot farther. Yeah, the NFL loses beer company revenue but they'd save it on security and lawyers. The irony is that the NFL prohibits owners, players, coaches and staff from consuming alcohol at all NFL functions citing "significant and unnecessary risks to the league, its players and others". That includes travel too. No booze on the bus, plane, practice facility. Nowhere. I'd love for the NFL to try it for one year....no booze sold or allowed on the premises during game day. Beats a "test".

I only know of Los Angeles in the brief time I lived there in the halcyon late 1970s. My dad and I attended what turned out to be one of the last Rams games in the Coliseum before the shipped out to Anaheim. The NFL was in Los Angeles quite a few times. It's all past tense for a reason. Even then the demographics weren't in the City's favor. I can't imagine it has changed so significantly to where they can avoid Jacksonville Syndrome of a cold sweat and panicked ticket sales to avoid blackouts.TV money or not, you need to sell tickets to pay for all the capital improvements. Nobody has perfected a business model where ticket sales are no longer the foundation in the revenue stream. If the NFL doesn't want to contract, it should at least try a new market, not a busted one that's synonymous with failure where you can sell tickets for more than five years.

Jets Antonio Cromartie doesn't want to be on TV

I hate how society is going to celebrate this behavior. You can acquire money, property status and fame, but never personal responsibility. That's homegrown. -
The NFL's preoccupation with Los Angeles will end up being yet another failure. It's not like it's been tried. Several times. It's awful that a storied, longtime franchise may have to pack up the moving vans. I'd rather contract than expand. Would we really miss Jacksonville? Tampa Bay? I think all the major sporting leagues would benefit from contraction.

I'll give it a B. The Bills will get three Pro Bowl players out of that draft. That is a resounding drafting success in the wilderness years, P.N. (pre Nix).

Your top 3 round dream picks for this year

Out of the guys who've visited OBD according to PFT: Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams (#2) Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon (#1) Clemson defensive end Andre Branch TCU linebacker Tank Carder (#3) Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins Georgia tackle/guard Cordy Glenn Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones West Virginia linebacker Bruce Irvin USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler Appalachian State receiver Brian Quick Alabama running back Trent Richardson Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson I like Blackmon over Kalil due to potential impact. I think Blackmon makes a more significant impact on the offense than a tackle. I like Carder over Branch. Branch will have to learn the linebacker position. Carder is already a linebacker and a good one at that. I'd be alright with Adams in the second round if the Bills feel they need a LT. Like others, there are players I like that haven't visited OBD. (Melvin Ingram, Stephen Hill, Vinny Curry) Edit: I see where Hill and Curry are visiting. -
Every day that goes by without a visit sharpens the pool from which #10 will be selected from. My guess is the #1 on Nix's draft board has already visited. To the best of my knowledge, Keuchly, Floyd and Gilmore haven't been asked nor have visited OBD crushing the hopes and dreams of many around here. Further, Keuchly and Floyd have another strike against them in not playing in a southern conference, making them even bigger long shots.
-
If a player hasn't visited, he's not being drafted by Nix, Inc.
-
I like Trent Dilfer as well. I think he's got a long career ahead of him. He's the kind of guy I'd like to see announce MNF.
-
How do you pronounce his last name? Is it Tan-uh-hill? Or Tane (like cane)-hill?
-
Three years will make the pattern then, and you can discount Nix's previous scouting involvement with the Bills (specifically Eric Moulds) and the Chargers drafts and the two big off-season free agents acquisitions with the heavy theme of southern schools. I didn't say Nix picks solely from *big* schools, just southern ones. He's stated previously that the southern conferences offer the competition that best mirrors NFL level competition. I'd agree with that personally. I'm not saying Nix wouldn't pick Glenn. If you like Glenn at #10, there are a lot of things working in that direction. It's more for the folks who think the Bills will draft Notre Dame wide receivers or Boston College linebackers. Doubt it'd happen. It'd be out of character.
-
There are folks on here that refuse to accept the Nix pattern that Nawrocki outlined. The player will come from one of the southern conferences. He will have visited with the Bills prior to the draft. He will not be a one year wonder. The end. From that starting point, you can get a better idea of who the Bills are looking at for the first pick.
-
Yeah, I'm with you on your point. Only those with visits are potential Bills draftees.
-
Please, do tell, and I'm not being sarcastic. I want your opinion. Tell me about the guy and how he differs from the "undersized" Maybin and perhaps has closer parallel to the "undersized" Von Miller.
-
"Undersized pass rush specialist" has to make every Bills fan nervous.

Would you trade up to 5 for Kalil?
dpberr replied to Byrd the Skyhawk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This assumes even St. Louis would pick up Kalil. Jeff Fisher always picks up his offensive linemen in later rounds and they've invested considerable money in the OL (the effectiveness being questionable) over the past few drafts. He'd be doing something very unique by drafting an OL with such a high pick.
