  1. Especially in light of the recent revelation of the text messages, it's a HELL NO for me...and I was an Incognito basher from the start, so that says something to me... Is Incognito probably still an A-1 jerk? Most likely, yes - based on more than just this Martin thing, but given the duplicity of Martin involved in all of this and what appears to be an ever-so-fragile state of mind, no thanks. Besides, I think this team needs leadership, not more followers.
  2. I agree with the Fluker statement, but what also helped San Diego was a new system and a better coached OL Coach....talent is absolutely necessary, but absent proper coaching and an intelligent system, it's wasted.
  3. I don't know...a big, atheltic LB that can thump against the Run and cover in space, sounds exactly what this LB corp really needs...if Mack is there, and he probably won't be, by the time the BILLS pick and they have NOT addressed the LB issue in FA, I couldn't imagine a better scenario for the BILLS...because I think he is top 5 talent. That said, I also like an OT at this position. I am completely for burning The Ralph to the ground if they Draft a TE and wouldn't sour on Drafting a WR, unless they trade down and pick up another 2nd...but, that's me
  4. In my mind, it's not about going after they guy the GM & HC think is "their guy", because according to them he's already on the team...therefore, spending a #9 pick on a player that has a lower chance of seeing the field would be frivolous...now, if both those men went into the Draft with an open mind to say, "Hey, if ________falls to us, we're taking him! Because he COULD be our Franchise QB of the future"...but they don't have an open mind at this point. Marrone has already gone on record to say EJ is the starter...so it's a waste of a truly high value pick. Thus, the argument for Drafting an Aaron Murray type in Round 4 or later...if you take a Murray and he sits the bench for a year while EJ proves that he either is or is NOT the answer, so be it...you've selected an impact player in the first 3 Rounds, or so you hope...and Murray can come on after next year, or if EJ proves fragile and is injured Murray can step in or if EJ just sucks - Murray can step in but not at the expense of other truly important impact players at needed positions.... It boils down to the fact that Marrone has already made up his mind, so why throw away a potentially impoortant and viable football player at 9th overall when he will most likely ride the pine? I think that's what some of us are getting at....not to put words in other people's mouths, but that 's what I'm thinking... Truthfully, I don't think EJ *is* the answer to the QB problem, but Marrone isn't going to budge before the start of the season and probably not at all during the season, so the BILLS need an impact player, like YESTERDAY! But what the hell do I know....?
  5. The last line is essentially what I'm getting at....and that's my larger point. One player can make a huge impact in ONE year, but in order to be perennial winners, you must build a model of sustainability. And it takes a total team approach to do that...and there are Pro-Bowl caliber players Drafted every year in the middle rounds...the fact that one team doesn't do it every year is only what has happened thus far, but the Seahawks are not the team they've been until Carroll arrived and few other teams have done that....you can look at teams like the Pats, 49ers of recent, Ravens to a lesser extent over the last several years, they all build a total team approach and even the Giants to the same extent of the Ravens. The Giants won two Super Bowls in spite of their QB, yet it was their QB who made two incredible throws and superb catches made by two much maligned WRs in each game with a Defense that otherwise dominated the Patriots, a total team approach....to summarize, it's hard to sustain a winning team in a league of parity, but it CAN be done by highly intelligent football guys and spending the money on *POSITIONS* and not players in particular. Teams built on great player(s) can win and often do, but as seen last night ala Peyton, when it's built on one player, it's harder to sustain winning given that even great players have bad games individually.
  6. I disagree from the standpoint that it is a total team effort...in otherwords, because it's multiple players on various fronts, the sustainability is not based on ONE, individual player but rather on the totality of talent and effort. So, while the Hawks may not be able to sign all starting 22 players to top tier money, their ability to continually keep key components and draft wisely, as they already have, to keep good Rookies and young players in the mix is not only sustainable, it's nearly mandated based on the Draft and salary measurements for their FAs and pending FAs....so, I respectfully disagree....because while all of those players contributed significantly, not all of them are going to garner significant contracts....many of them will get middle-tier money based on the type of player they truly are, good but not elite. And those that ARE elite, will get that money from the Seahawks. Just IMO...
  7. Yup, pretty much anticipated someone would bring that up...and it's cool, Wilson was integral to the success of that game...that said, and I know you were breakin' balls, but historically the QBs that have done well over the course of time and certainly in the Super Bowl are pure pocket passers. Wilson has all of the other components needed, except the height requirement which is why he doesn't stay in the pocket that much...and while I wish Wilson a long and successful career, his abilities are generally not able to be duplicated by another QB his size...so, I'll take the taller pocket guy...for me As a fan, I would loathe the decision to Draft Manziel...he may be exciting and draw some crowds and probably win you some football games, but history isn't on his side as to a guy who can get you to the Dance and win ya one. As mentioned earlier, Wilson did it...but it's rare and he had the extreme benefit of a dominating Defense, solid Running game, and Special Teams that were exceptional.
  8. To me, the thing that stands out for the Seahawks is that their recipe for success is one that lends itself to sustainability. They have good total team Defense, Special Teams that is second to none, and running game that can pound the ball while a passing game that is not dependent on ONE outstanding WR but rather a set of WRs that are talented and can get open. The Offensive line needs some help and they'll have some decisions to make regarding who to re-sign on Defense and work hard at staying under the cap, but that's a recipe that doesn't depend on whims or smoke and mirrors...just good talent, all 3 phases playing well, and solid coaching with integrating multiple players at various positions. Not just a great QB or RB or one aspect of good Defense...hard to game plan for 22 starters plus STs...
  9. I don't have a name in mind, per se, but I want a true pocket QB that is tall, good mechanics, strong arm, and can adjust to Defenses. Whoever the hell that is, and I'm doubting it's EJ, that's who I want as the face of the Franchise.
  10. Hairston may be the guy, or he may not...there just isn't enough info to go with on him. But, if the BILLS sign an OG and bring in a high Draft Tackle, you could move Hairston to OG if he proves to be "that" good. All Tackles can be Guards, but rarely can Guards be Tackles. If Hairston proves to be so good that he needs to be inserted into the line, then his play will prove that out...but given the issues the O-line had this year, I don't think the BILLS should make that gamble.
  11. No thank you, and that's nothing against Albert. I would rather the BILLS get 2 OGs in FA and take the Auburn OT at 9, Robinson I think is his name...
  12. Well deserved...to a gracious and humble guy that has yearned for this recognition too long. Well done Reed, thanks for the memories and Congratulations on this achievement!! Enjoy it and please know, in the minds and hearts of BILLS fans everywhere, you've been enshrined from the day you retired.
  13. If by some miracle the BILLS could steal away C Alex Mack from the Browns, any thoughts on moving Wood to LG since he played there for a bit with the BILLS?
  14. To second part of your post: agreed. I think TG could have done a better job side-stepping the question, but you're absolutely right about the question of EJ's viability as the QB of the future being disucssed long before yesterday....it started the moment the BILLS Drafted him, and particularly mid-way through the 1st round.
  15. Again with the "Dude is a little weasel"....really? Name calling?? Really? I mean, if I were to say - question whether you're really a doctor based on your screen name yet doubt it by the childish tenor of your remarks and insults, wouldn't that wear thin at some point? You don't agree or don't like his viewpoints...fair enough. You think he is wrong and have a bias against Buffalo, I'm listening...you don't believe he is good evaluator of talent and his articles are poorly written, hey - not really going to argue. But, when you start the juvenile, name-calling bulls*it, it reduces this board to school-yard bullying...and it just doesn't have to be that way. I recall that thread, and sorry to say, you may want to review your facts as it was a long and drawn out series of events. And whatever TG's motivation "may" have been, they are immaterial to what it WAS, a personal attack. No reason, no cause, unjust, and indefensable. Period. You can respond all you want, but I will not....this isn't up for debate, a personal attack no matter when it occurs or what you may presume to be someone else's reason for joining the board is irrelevant. Candor and objectivity is great...but not at the expense of a person's well-being and certainly not at the cost of either a professional or a fan leaving the board. In case you haven't noticed, finding and binding with true BILLS fans or professionals willing to have ardent and intelligent discussions with them are farther and fewer between than ever before...if you want to continue to have a community of brotherhoood and sisterhood that bonds as fans together, personal attacks have no place....ever.
  16. I didn't see it, so here's a link to the list of *SCHEDULED* Free agents as of January 24th...whether they make it to the market is a different story: http://www.nfl.com/n...agents-position
  17. Point in fact is that if TG were just another random fan posting on this site, it wouldn't have been tolerated. The fact is / was his press credentials don't / didn't open the door for personal attacks or for consistently taking jabs at the guy as a person or man. I don't agree with him on anywhere near the term "often" would imply, but attacking someone - anyone - for their personal opinion is uncalled for and juvenile. TG didn't just leave the board, I was on the board when the discussion erupted and a couple of times he alluded to the fact that he may just leave the board altogether and a few bullying as*wipes decided to make it happen. TG came here as a person, on his personal time, in his own personal interest - not representing ESPN at the time. Again, no one - I repeat - NO ONE deserves to be ridiculed or belittled for their opinion. All are of equal status in a forum such as this. We may disagree and there will be some who are using out-dated stats or their own subjective bias to slant facts to their advantage, but it doesn't make that person worthy of attack or turning anything on this board personal. To be clear, I am NOT defending TG the professional writer and employee of Buffalo News or previously of ESPN, I am defending the idea that all people on this board should (and I think are) be afforded the protection to voice their opinions and observations regarding the BILLS as an organization and a team without fear of retribution or cyber-bullying of any kind. Go back and review the thread that ultimately forced him to depart. TG not posting on this board, at best, has caused us all to lose some good inside information, and at worst, a revelation of just how silly we can all be at one point or another. I applaud the person who hotly debated JW yesterday regarding the contract negotiation with Byrd as he didn't make it personal or nasty, and in fact said as much that he wished to continue on topic - not implying JW did anything wrong either - just that everyone was focused on making it about the argument of fact or perception and not the person writing it. And I may be mistaken, but it's the loss of Lori, and yes TG, and other posters like them that have caused us all to have a heightened sense of fairness and decorum when having these discussions that make us so zealous or impassioned about our opinion.
  18. Round 1: Robinson Round 2: Benjamin Round 3: Borland Round 4: Henderson Round 5: Moses Round 6: Barrett Round 7: Murray.
  19. Hopefully, this time through if no contract is agreed to, then the BILLS tag him and trade him.
  20. I've been one who thinks running TG off this board was unjust and childish. But with that in mind, TG could have made a statement such as, "I don't know if they should (Draft another QB) but you can answer that question by playing well next season"...he side-steps the question while giving EJ a chance to BE the QB the BILLS and all of us fans hope he can and will be.
  21. Just for the info since there continues to be debate about where Byrd fits in and his value, etc. Just for info's sake, not to add fuel to the fire... http://overthecap.com/top-player-salaries.php?Position=S
  22. BILLS will have an extra 4th too...after they trade CJ for one
  23. Because despite the length of our discussion, I don't want to belabor the point - I think it is best to say we will just agree to disagree. And that's fine, no sweat. Honestly, if either of us really had any input to this situation, we most likely wouldn't be having this discussion / debate in this forum. So, the BILLS will do whatever they think best. I happen to believe it is in the team's best interest to make a good, quality offer and hope that Byrd wants to play in Buffalo for good money, maybe not making him the highest paid Safety in the league, but top 4 or 5 money. And if that is not good enough, tag him and trade him. That's my opinion, and I know you disagree but I don't think discussing it ad nauseum will change either of our positions and before this turns personal or nasty, I'll say that this forum is a great way to extend support to the BILLS, have healthy discussions and debates, and see other people passionate about a team that frankly, hasn't given the fans a great deal to be passionate about. But, we keep coming back...so with that in mind, despite our difference of opinion we are "brothers in arms" for the BILLS and with that, we all want them to be successful. Let's just hope however they do it, this team makes it to the Super Bowl and brings the Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo in the next few years!
