  1. I want to play too. 1. I liked him before he became Hitler - If Byrd were as attached to Blo as Lil Donte he'd be a Bill for life (Donte's feelings are still hurt b/c the Bills didn't want him). 2. In hindsight I'd take Greer, but... 3. Made sense in light of Chan wanting a waterbug for his offense and Lynch being a blink away from suspension - in hindsight... 4. Loved him 5. Bruce 6. I think this guy gets unfairly **** on more than anyone on the roster. 7. If we make the playoffs next year cutting him was great. If we don't it was idiotic. 8. The better you are the luckier you get. 9. I love Marv Levy P.S. - Even if TJ Graham becomes a top receiver in the league it was still idiotic to pass over Russell Wilson.
  2. I actually think our TEs as a whole are a lot better than they get credit for. Chandler is a good but not great all around TE. He's not a dynamic receiver, nor is he a proficient blocker, but he does both adequately - most guys do one or the other. Lee Smith is a very good blocking TE, he's just not that good as a receiver. Gragg is a 7th rd rookie who can't block for **** but may develop into a good pass catcher. And Moeaki is a big ?, but when healthy he's produced in the NFL. It's not a terrible squad, just one lacking star power. In other words, it's not the squad to blame for losses, but it's also not one to lean on to carry you. An upgrade would be nice, but if WR and QB are pulling their weight this squad should be sufficient.
  3. I have very little respect for this guy. I have no problem with gays or even gay marriage, but if you're going to use the fame that you derive through your employment to advance controversial political issues you have to expect that your employer may choose not to be associated with you. It really doesn't matter what the issue is. If I'm running a football team I want the focus of my team both internally and in the public eye to be based on football and non-controversial philanthropy. The fact that these people don't want to be part of his crusade doesn't make them cowards or bigots in my mind. I think he's got a lot of growing up to do. This all reminds me of that kid a few years back from Abilene Christian who was supposed to be a talented OT but he !@#$ed his biological sister and no one would touch him with a ten inch pole for fear of how that would go over in the locker room and in the public.
  4. I know you're just the messenger so don't take offense, but I'm convinced whoever wrote this doesn't even know who Derek Carr is. He throws off his back foot with more power than most QBs stepping into a throw. He's got question marks but arm strength isn't one of them.
  5. I think Byrd wants out of Buffalo worse than Willis McGahee and I predict we'll be furious when we hear what he signed for elsewhere. I predict we will erroneously assume he'd have signed here had we matched. Of course, I'm not so sure Levitre would have signed here had we matched the Titans offer. That said, I can see no reason not to tag and trade if he won't play ball.
  6. Maybe you haven't been around here much lately, but I have it on good authority that less than 3.5 years is an insignificant sample size when evaluating a QB. Might as well ask the guys at the barber shop who they're voting for and declare that person the next President. It's the same thing.
  7. You need 3.5 years before you have the foggiest idea what you have in a QB. He could be the next Peyton Manning or the next Ryan Leaf, and you'd have no idea. Unless of course he's placed behind a veteran backup on the depth chart after his first training camp. Then you know for sure.
  8. Because the gardener does the hedging and he's been downsized.
  9. I'm willing to give Marrone the benefit of the doubt with this season & see what he's made of next season, but if Crossman is still employed next month Marrone should be sent packing ASAFP. That's not hyperbole either. If keeping Crossman is the decision he makes he either lacks the judgment to be a successful coach or he lacks the will to prioritize appropriately. Either is a deal breaker
  10. Dareus is a loose stool. !@#$ that fat !@#$.
  11. I was going to respond just to the bottom part, but I agree with your first post too. McNabb was one of those guys who seemed to perform too well to move on from, but had he been a little better they might have rings. I think he was exposed for his mediocrity many times over his career. First, when guys like AJ Feeley and Jeff Garcia came in and produced as well in that offense, then when Vick showed him up, then again in DC, and yet again in MN where he just flat out sucked. Bradford I think is in a similar situation - good enough that it's hard to give up on him, but bad enough that it's hard to stick with him - only without the team success the Eagles had. Apparently the coaching staff is high on him, but I'm not sure I'd put all my eggs in the Bradford basket if I had a shot at a franchise QB. Hell, even if they're high on Bradford they could still draft a QB and let him sit for a year and give Bradford one last chance to prove it. Worst case scenario they'd have some valuable trade bait.
  12. I think people make arguments just to make them. Whenever someone suggests taking a QB in the upcoming draft (not necessarily in the 1st but 4th or earlier) some guy will inevitably chime in with the mind numbing "So you just keep drafting til you get a guy that kills it as a rookie" line. If you are or have been that guy I mean no offense, but I am curious how it escapes you that you can draft a rookie, have him sit for a year while you play the other guy. Thus, the real question should be "so you're just going to keep drafting until you get a guy who is good in his first 1.5-2 years?" That is the right question.
  13. I agree with reservations. Statistically Bradford looked pretty good before getting hurt, but given the talent on that roster, the value of the QB position, and the likelihood of having a pick that high again anytime soon, I'd pull the trigger on a potential franchise QB as an insurance policy if nothing else.
  14. Had he had his "pro bowl" year before he got extended I might agree, but it was the very next year after that when he got benched - for TOMMY MADDUX . His first year starting was promising and probably built false hope, but after sporting QB ratings below 65 the following 2 seasons they would have done well to move on IMO. And to give a little perspective on that season (for which he hilariously received some MVP consideration), he threw for 3109 yds and 14 TDs on a team that had Hines Ward and Plaxico Burress both in their primes AND a stacked O-line. What's funny is while the sports media was stumbling over itself to announce he had arrived the team was giving up on him. To follow that logic we should still be trotting out JP Losman.
  15. Stewart's the best example. You're right that he was a tease - great arm & world class athleticism, but the guy sucked. After 5 yrs they extended him despite consistent poor play b/c they kept hoping the light would come on. His pro-bowl was a bad joke. That team was stacked from top to bottom that used him as a game manager. The next year he got benched for a journeyman. Huffing glue is never a good idea.
  16. What's your point? I also talk about sex generally with girls I want to have sex with without talking about sex with them specifically. It's okay to have tangential abstract discussions.
  17. Yeah, I knew it was coming. I was hoping we might talk about RJ, Trent Edwards, or non-Bills QBs like Tim Couch. Oh well.
  18. That's really what I was asking. The Steelers actually kept Stewart for 8 years, but started him for the last 6 (5 1/2 really, he was benched in his 6th year as starter.)
  19. I thought I addressed this in the opening paragraph but I guess I'll address it again. I thought it would be a nice break from repeatedly beating the dead horse that is EJ Manuel's status, but I fully expect the reading impaired to turn it into another EJ thread.
  20. What a hate monger. He should be made to throw himself on the mercy of the Jesse Jackson's of the world as well as their gay counterparts within the GLAAD network, kiss their asses, and beg for forgiveness. Or maybe he should just be shot, I haven't decided yet. All I know is that anyone who doesn't think butt love is a beautiful thing is morally depraved. This guy knows what I'm talking about.
  21. All this talk about whether we should cut bait on EJ, or give him another year, or another 2-3 years, etc. got me thinking about teams that have hung on too long hoping in vein that their guy could be the guy. I'm curious who you guys think should have gotten the hook earlier. I'm also curious how many will try to turn this into yet another EJ thread. I'll go with Kordell Stewart and I don't think it's close. The Steelers wasted 6 years (after letting him sit for his first 2) on this underachieving bum before finally allowing some competition (at which time he was beaten out by Tommy Maddux of all people). Those were mostly competetive teams despite lacking adequate QB play. One can only imagine what those years might have been to that franchise had they had the good sense to cut bait early and bring in a real QB.
  22. You started a "merry Christmas" troll thread!? That's f'n hilarious. I suppose it is in poor taste, but it's funny none the less. cheers.
  23. If we ramp it up we can have a full blown QB controversy by the weekend. Thad makes all the plays EJ was supposed to make.
