  1. I think it's important to you to defend the NFL's legitimacy and that you will defend the officiating regardless of its nature.
  2. Who suggested it was a conspiracy. You don't need a central organizer to encourage left wing activists to write stories with a left wing slant. They do it on their own naturally, and their left wing editors and producers role with it. If not for bias why did this non-story get roughly the amount of coverage the most broad reaching executive order in US history got? Bull ****, dude. If you're a hard left activist you're going to steer your story to advance your position as far as you think you can without blowing your ratings or compromising your career. And Keith Olbermann sounds objective and reasonable when you're a fascist.
  3. Putting your head in the sand and closing your eyes doesn't change the reality.
  4. Your dumb. People with employees have plenty of money. Small businesses are almost always flush with cash. Instead of giving valuable, skilled, hard working employees a fair wage they use that money to pay for rich CEOs to go on lavish vacations, buy Ferraris, and eat caviar. Having never run a successful business I can tell you this is how it works because my professor at college who never ran a business either told me.
  5. And if you're a political junkie that seeks out right wing news you'll see them. If you're just an average Joe who watches the evening news or reads the local paper you're getting the news served up by liberal ideologues and activists who have a narrative that they passionately want to advance.
  6. I just dropped $170 at the vet on a !@#$ing cat (and I hate cats). This is bull ****. Veterinary services should be a right. He who can't pay watches his pet die? I know there are people who have to choose between paying the electric bill or the vet Bill. This is shameful. If congress won't act the President should issue universal veterinary coverage by executive order.
  7. Are there people over 18 without major disabilities who can't find a job paying +/- $15/hr?
  8. I've kind of tuned football out into the background for the last two weeks, but you better believe I'll be up for this one. I think the Bills have a lot better chance than most think. That said, I'm not really expecting a win and I'll be okay with a loss as long as it's legit. But if this game, or a reasonable shot at winning the game, is stolen by a bogus call my head might explode.
  9. I agree. I still read through them for the occasional funny bit, but it's become like Austin Powers by the third installment; they're just recycling the same jokes over and over again.
  10. I always liked the idea of legalizing it and not taxing it myself. Why pot smokers want it taxed so heavily is beyond me. Maybe they should put the bong down long enough to think that one through.
  11. If that were true, why is no one following the successful model of Fox News?
  12. It doesn't take a conspiracy, but you already know that. Claiming there isn't an overwhelming liberal bias across the mainstream media is about the equivalent of claiming the world is flat. Now we know (like we didn't already) that you will defend the liberal position regardless of the facts and thus your opinion is meaningless.
  13. Did it ever occur to you that those outlets have such high ratings because each is one of a very few outlets catering to an underserved market its respective medium? Perhaps you can explain why a relatively innocuous FB post made by a peon set off a media firestorm?
  14. This chick nails it. http://thefederalist.com/2014/12/03/dear-media-this-elizabeth-lauten-nonsense-is-why-everybody-hates-you/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=3451ae1047-RSS_DAILY_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-3451ae1047-55858421 In summary: A low level GOP staffer criticized Obama's daughters on her Facebook page for dressing and acting inappropriately at an event and it became the weekly outrage.
  15. It'd be one thing is the cops were using their authority under the law to arrest or cite NFL players for their speech, quite another if a police department, union, or association asks the NFL to discipline those **** bags without threat or show of force.
  16. That was awesome. The reporter flushed his toilet, he knew it, the reporter knew it, he threw a temper tantrum, and the reporter chuckled. In fairness to Russell Brand, he probably genuinely believed he was doing something good and probably lacks the economic knowledge to understand how his decision to pay extremely high rent drives up the rent prices of others in the area.
  17. We've been doing that in the south for the last 20+ years (preferably around a fire with our shirts off. It's just new to you cuz you're a yankee.
  18. Plenty of cops are ass holes, but a lot (I'd say most) are just regular guys. If you judge someone guilty based not on the facts, but on race/status, then you're no different from the guy burning a cross in a hood & robe.
  19. I just hate them for being idiotic racist ass holes. I'm not calling for them to be punished, but to borrow a page from the Birddog brigade on Rice/Peterson, Try using your position with a major corporation to advance your personal political agenda (particularly on a highly controversial topic) while wearing the company logo, and see how that works out for you.
  20. Unarmed white teenager shot by police. Oops, he was 20. One year younger and we'd have half a headline. http://downtrend.com/71superb/unarmed-white-man-shot-by-police-no-riots-al-sharpton-silent-obama-keeps-golfing/
  21. It's definitely opened my eyes to the racism that is prevalent in black America. I'm glad I have a handful of black friends to remind me that it's not all of them, and it really isn't all of them, but it's most of them. That could just as easily be me in Wilson's shoes and people I thought of as friends would be calling for my head, if they didn't know me, based solely on race. And they'd be calling me the racist.
  22. As much as it pisses me off, I actually think they are helping the situation. By acting this way in a situation where most people know it's bull ****, they're making it plain as day that they aren't to be taken seriously and that charges of racism, even when picked up nationally, are usually bull ****.
  23. Nicely put. All I've heard all year is that athletes aren't entitled to due process from the league for acts unrelated to their employment, now I'm hearing they should be absolved of punishment for acts directly related to their employment. WTF?
  24. Actually it was a horrible call. In plain English all the tuck rule said if the QB baled on a pass but the ball slipped out of his hand as part of that throwing motion then it would not be considered a fumble. Brady brought the ball back to his body and even put his other hand on it before fumbling. The call was beyond bad.
