Health Care has passes
Astrojanitor replied to WisconsinBillzFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I get it. while soused, my roommate and I find Glen Beck to be the funniest damn thing in the history of tv. take a shot every time he cries when looking at a picture of karl marx! -

who is asking for a handout? He can afford being screwed by the insurance companies, he is simply intelligent enough to know he is being exploited...and recognizes it is wrong. this is why people despise teabaggers....they don't care about anyone but themselves. I am ashamed to know we're both human--I am horrified there are people who are so indifferent to the plight of so many. There is a lot wrong with this bill, but there is a lot that will drastically improve the lives of millions. I would love to see elements like mandatory insurance and all those penalties removed. But to so openly not give a !@#$ about a man who works hard but is beset by health issues? We are trying to have a society here--this attitude is horrific. -
Culpepper wants to play for the Bills
Astrojanitor replied to Numark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
huh...weirdly I'm neither for it or against it. Maybe bring him in to compete with our scrubs...but I don't think there is anything there anymore. Says something pretty negative against our chumps though, doesn't it -

32...and you don't have to tell me twice. I had to quit being an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State and take a job as an emergency dispatcher for ADT because I couldn't make bills. Plus ADT's insurance provider will actually provide me insurance. Go education! -

does he demand free health care or does he demand to be treated fairly, not exploited for his condition? He's working, he's paying--he's just getting milked by a broken system. I had a similar, though less serious, situation. I was insurance-less for 2 years because of my asthma. Medication was $10/mo with insurance $250/mo without. Moral of this story is I was off my medication for 2 years. I was willing to work, I was working, I was working at one of our more important jobs (teacher) yet being screwed for something beyond my control by a crooked and ugly system. we're living in a civilization here. we work to improve the situation of those around us. -

yeah, that's not what "non profit" means. I worked for a non profit when I was 21...most money I ever made in my life. non profit refers to how much money a company can retain. -
you know, I never really got that into Sopranos (although I freely admit to thinking the final episode was one of the best things I've ever seen). I keep meaning to give it another chance, but haven't really gotten around to it. Mad Men is probably the best show going, for my money The Wire/Homicide/Mystery Science Theater 3000 all fight for the title of greatest of all time

20 ways obamacare will take away your freedoms
Astrojanitor replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This aspect of the bill is long overdue. It is not easy to come out of college and immediately find a decent job with a decent wage and benefits. My roommate just got health insurance last year, at age 31, even though he has a college degree and has been working a minimum 40 hours a week since age 16. people deserve a soft transition period while they are trying to make it. Once you move beyond living hand to mouth--like most people do in their early working life--insurance becomes more of an option. Having a safety net while you try and move a couple steps up the ladder? It's a good thing. There are some dumb things in the bill; however, this is not one of them. -

Now repeat after me: "i regurgitate cliches" "i regurgitate cliches" "i regurgitate cliches" now click your heels three times and open your eyes, do you still have an erection while watching Glen Beck? -

I know, right? The Tea Party: Because kids can go !@#$ themselves. Luckily in NY you can stay on your parents plan until age 25 or something. Especially lucky since I wasn't able to get a job that offered insurance until I was 28. But yes, I was a slacker. Working three jobs for a total 60 hours a week. If doctors were real Americans they would have flatly refused to reset my leg after my car accident. How dare I get hurt while having a horrible job(s)! -
depends, do you want to murder them for dancing?

These cats are amazing at knowing how the music video translates to modern technology. People get excited for their singles the way they did for Michael Jackson, in a way. But what's weird is I can't think of anyone I know who has actually gone to the trouble of buying a record. Like 5 million people a week watch their videos but I have no idea how popular they are.

Man, the reaction when (Setara?) danced on tv while briefly showing her hair? Crazy. That collision of lingering conservative theocracy and the desire to re-embrace modernity was pretty shocking...especially when kids who are openly fans of the show also advocate the murder of the female contestants.

is showing practically every night on HBO (or one of the many HBO fringe channels). Documentary about an American Idol type show in Afghanistan. Very interesting/entertaining film about the country dipping its toes into artistic freedom, religious freedom, western culture and democracy. Absolutely worth 90 minutes of your time if you haven't seen it. If you have, what did you think (outside of "my god, and i thought american pop music was awful!")

Its Hard to Find Things to Agree with Obama On
Astrojanitor replied to BillsNYC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
in my experience teachers get scapegoated--but it's really more of a cultural crisis. parents don't promote intellectual curiosity and students can be almost aggressively indifferent. Yeah, there are a lot of bad teachers. A LOT of them. But is it worse than states like kansas and texas treating science and history as a belief system? How about how students are taught to distrust their teachers because of a delusional/paranoid assumption of liberal indoctrination? people really don't get how soul crushing of a profession teaching really is. I would have one or two students every semester tell me they had never read a secular book in their lives. I kept a file of bizarre sentences that popped up in papers--sometime I go back and read them realizing that at least half of the college freshmen I'd deal with were essentially functionally illiterate. now maybe this district had awful teachers who deserved to get fired, I don't know. but i do know it is far too easy to blame everything on educators. -

oh god. grow up idiot. if these loser birthers put their energy towards something even remotely productive we'd be living in a much better world. -
Walt's attempt to ignore his guilt by pushing the blame for the plane crash on the government? it's 1960s technology...and tied for the 50th worst plane crash, not bad. This is going to be an intense season. Already see the seeds of a Jesse/Walt role reversal. Plus a re-run of Mad Men season 3 afterward? Good two hours of tv

solid episode--def looking forward to Saul's return next week (love me the Bob Odenkirk). But that shot of the mexicans crawling down the road was amazing. one of those odd shots/moments that pop up in nearly every episode.

that style of ball would certainly be better for Trent--less hits and all. I still don't find him to be a good fit for this team. beyond being injury prone there is the belief he cannot handle a wide playbook (as shown by the sudden switch to pop warner ball last year). that is as much of a problem as the injuries. personally I think the best thing in the world for Trent is a year in the UFL to get his confidence back. look at what it did for JP. I think his limitations makes him a liability for the Bills. I think the Bills are a liability to him as well.
-
but he didn't. and he won't be. If he played behind a brick wall and this was a flag football league we wouldn't be having this conversation either. But he plays for the Bills. meaning he is going to get hit. a lot. if he is injury prone he is a poor fit for this team.

what game would that be? Sure, he's got Dr. Mario written all over him, but does that mean he should be considered a football player? -
LOL at having Roehlisberger be crossed eyed and borderline retarded
