I 100% agree. Every time some teabag wingnut does this kind of thing independents flock to the democratic party. No one is going to align themselves with the violent. I don't really consider myself conservative or progressive, but when I see this kind of thing...and how it's defended...I know I will not vote right. I don't want violent intolerant assclowns in charge of anything. I see two candidates: one supports taunting a man with parkinson's in a peaceful protest and one doesn't? I know where my voice is going. I listen to the people who behave civilly....most people are exactly like me

He is one brilliant dude. Obnoxious and a little delusional, but he knows what he is doing. Have got to love a guy who does more than talk. He lives his message. When he came to Pitt I had to pick him up at the airport, amuse him for a couple hours, bring him to the show and get him back to the airport. Dude was obsessed with taking a bath at my apartment and yelling at frat guys. Weird guy. -
from a very conservative blog http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2009/...-florida-video/ what actually happened is there was a pro-immigration rally in Ft. Lauderdale in November. Some tea party protesters shows up to engage in the constitutional right to protest. The mob turned on them and attacked. It was not a tea party event, they were not invited/wanted. But that makes it even more disgusting. Civil discourse is destroyed when we support attacking those with alternate viewpoints. No excuse to attack the tea baggers, no excuse to throw money at and taunt Dr. Letcher. Continuing to rile people up and promote violence is going to end badly. Do we not remember 1968? It is irresponsible to promote/defend that kind of action. We live in a civilization. You want to shut down opposing opinion violently? Move to Iran.

You just don't believe in anyone taking responsibility for their actions, do you? Fine then, I can only assume you support the liberals you have attacked teabaggers who have involved themselves in pro healthcare rallys, You totally support the teabaggers getting beat up in Florida in November, right? They were disruptive a-holes who were trying to hijack a pro-Obama rally. say you support those tea baggers being beaten or you are a foolish hypocrite who has no idea what you are talking about.

man i saw DK with Jeff Penalty singing a few years back...I'd say the crowd was half early 20s half early 40s. I've always felt that people who dig bands like DK are lifers. No one had that summer they loved DK and the germs....they have DK and Germs tattoos. I think you'll be surprised how well you fit in. I had to babysit Jello when he came to Pitt about 10 years ago for a spoken word gig. Easily the most obnoxious guy I ever met. But when I asked if he recommend some of the Alternative tentacles bands to come out so I could put together punk shows he totally came through. They'd come through, play for $20, sleep on the floor and be completely cool with it. Jello walks the walk. He's one of the good ones. His new record is pretty good to boot. -
you mean practicing non-violent resistance? All he did was sit down. The sign only said ""Got Parkinson's? I do and you might. Thanks for your help." That's not confrontational. It was peaceful protest as guaranteed in the constitution. Tea partiers then taunted and threw money at him. Teabags turned confrontational and angry when they saw the opposition, the good dr. just sat there and took the abuse without coming down to their level. the teabagger even admits he was acting like a jerk and donated money to Parkinson's research. If the tables were turned, if evil liberals threw money at a teabagger you'd be outraged. Stop being such a !@#$ing baby. Your side was in the wrong in this particular action. Grow up and move on.

learn proper english: Fetus –noun,plural-tus·es. Embryology. (used chiefly of viviparous mammals) the young of an animal in the womb or egg, esp. in the later stages of development when the body structures are in the recognizable form of its kind, in humans after the end of the second month of gestation. In reality aborting a fetus is illegal. Fetus is third trimester, zygote before then. It is legal to abort a zygote. it's called science, not semantics. This is not a liberal conspiracy to promote murder, if you can prove a bundle of cells the size of a fingernail is able to sustain life outside of the womb then you have a baby. And an argument.

“Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head.” — French Premier Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) Though I have to admit I was disappointed when I found out Dennis Hopper had become a conservative.

for sirius you have to pay separate subscription...although multiple radios are less to activate. I am willing to bet XM is the same.

oh I'm not confusing anything. The post I responded to simply said "conservative" followed by examples that would fall under the social umbrella. Now ideally every legislator would have the heart of a socialist and the head of a conservative. But it is absurd to claim conservatives are never "my way or the highway." Look at the prom that got canceled because of gay panic. I would love it if all conservatives thought like you, the whole libertarian things makes sense to me. But I'm afraid that is a bit more of a minority than you would like. Especially in government.

oh that's adorable, I bet you even really believe that. so i assume you, and all conservatives, support gay marriage? It would increase the rights of a group of people and would hurt exactly no one. I assume you, and all conservatives, support women's reproductive rights? A woman should be the sole decider over her body without people's religious beliefs forcing her hand, don't you think? I assume you, and all conservatives, support the repeal of don't ask don't tell? No reason while one group of people should be denied military service, don't you think? I mean thinking the military is going to become one giant roman orgy is akin to thinking you have to rape everyone you see. I assume you, and all conservative, oppose the teaching of creationism in schools. teaching religious stories as scientific fact only hurts our kids ability to compete in the globalized work place. Oh here's a fun story. Remember when Ashcroft felt the need to cover the breasts of the of statute of justice because it offended him so? Man that liberal Ashcroft was a dink. You are not part of some noble collective that is maligned by the big bad media. You are just as !@#$ed up as the other side

I do know that, but radio was able to limp on until the telecommunications act Clinton signed (1996?). There was a level of "localness" (I know it's not a real word) until the TC Act allowed it to be a glorified computer program. I'll never forget the time a college buddy was able to figure out the pattern on a Clear Channel station. We'd drive around and he could guess what song was coming next with disturbing accuracy. It was always hilarious...but also made you die a little bit inside.

well the counter argument would be the radio waves are on a conservative blitz. The original piece of legislation was put in place in 1934 and repealed in the late 80s. An insane amount of lobbying went into (actually slightly more than 25 years worth) deregulated the airwaves. The deal isn't going to be flipped, probably ever. I worked in radio 10 years ago and this conversation was going on. Nothing will ever happen about it. And the "he" is just some jackhole pundit. Those people will say anything and it rarely makes sense. This Ed Schultz cat is saying if he owned 600 stations there would be no conservative talk shows allowed on any of them. Which is fine, Ed Schultz does not have 600 stations and will not have 600 stations.
-
eh, sort of. Up until the late 80s there were regulations in place for equal opportunity political discourse as well as a certain level of mandated local content. There has been talk of returning these regulations. The removal of regulations like this led to the conservative talk radio boom as well as the mess commercial pop/rock and roll radio has become (playlists being taken out of the hands of program directors and djs). Many stations do not even have local djs, pre recorded banter is inserted into broadcasts. Now i wish stations were more local and equal opportunity is certainly not a bad thing--but this will probably never go down. There has been a lot of talk about this for years. Nothing ever gets done. So yeah, absolutely nothing like the old Soviet Union.

That why I stated by saying I get his argument. My final comment there was facetious, I'm concerned as to how we cannot both run the operative successfully while offering a few luxuries to over worked and over stressed servicemen. And don't even get me started on Halliburton. My fiancee has a job in the motor pool. For that she gets paid about $20K. Overseas that job is sold to subcontractors for $80K. Instead of doing the job she trained 6 months for, In Afghanistan is will be off looking for IEDs...a job she is currently in the middle of a four day training session for. Soldiers jobs are sold for four times what they are paid while people like my fiancee are forced into doing a job they did not sign up for and do not have the experience or training to do well. We wonder why there is such an uptick in PTSD, suicide and mood stabilizing medication. The waste, fraud and stupidity that has come from privatizing the war has been dramatic. http://www.wartimecontracting.gov/ -
http://afghanistan.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/2...pers-dq/?hpt=T2 I get the argument somewhat, but certainly hate the implication of the soldiers in Afghanistan being on vacation. An amusement park? What a horrible thing to say...especially coming from the source. I've mentioned on these boards before how my fiancee is about to deploy to Afghanistan in June for 12 months. Can't say I support the language announcing the decision--this reads like Sgt. Maj. Michael T. Hall is actively trying to make deployment more difficult. You can argue the intent behind the action until you are blue in the face--I'm only commenting on the language used in the announcement. A sad fact is 20% of active military is on some kind of anti-depressant or mood stabilizing medication (including my fiancee). It seems to me having these tastes of home in the main bases in Afghanistan can do much in keeping our soldiers calm and relaxed. Simply being able to get a burger and catch a movie can recharge the batteries in dramatic ways. Hall claims they are unable to get supplies to combat outposts (I've heard many stories about outposts running out of food). Scares the hell out of me that we can put a man on the moon but not a dairy queen in Kandahar.

It took me about 10-15 minutes to install a sirius in my car and about 10 minutes in my home. I am not mechanically inclined, but this was pretty easy. Of course, since then, my lady snapped the antennae cord in half trying to get out of the car. So maybe $79 means cords won't be everywhere. As long as you pay some attention and are not involved with a hopelessly clumsy woman you should be fine.

an odd death too. from what I understand he simply fell down while walking in a park

yeah man, i can tell. If I could make a living at it I'd totally care. An adjunct makes about $2K per class per semester. A full course load plus summer sessions gets me $20K before taxes. $100,000 in student loans for a $20,000 job. sob story!

it's true. also didn't bother proof reading (yes I see some grammatical errors). But whatev, I'm retired. No longer being paid to care
