Futures markets distorted by speculators
....lybob replied to ....lybob's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
TPS, Thanks for posting, with Tom OC and Magox posting I sometimes wonder if I'm in the Bizzaro Universe. I always wonder if 1. They haven't seen the data 2. Have seen the data but don't believe the data 3. Believe the data but don't think it's a problem for the vast majority of people 4. Know it's a problem but don't give a !@#$ because it profits or at least doesn't adversely effect them. -

Small school, 4.68 40, decent but not great size 5,11 220- his college highlights are awesome but at a Division 2 level and he has had some injuries- but given all that he has produced when given the ball during pre-season games- reminded me a little bit of Fred Jackson who took awhile for people to believe in, Bell will probably need a lucky break to get playing time- otherwise it's catch 22- hasn't done it in regular season games so they won't play him in regular season games- this guy is the anti-Spiller not much speed but slippery as heck and hard to bring down.

[closed]Maybe we could trade our 2nd Rd Pick
....lybob replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me getting rid of Lee Evans is saying we have zero faith in Fitz because if you thought the Fitz could lead you anywhere you'd keep Evans and shore up the offensive line- so at best this is a place holding season where we get our QB of the future in next years draft at worse it's just who can we cut to save money. -
Two Plus Two Still Equals Four
....lybob replied to Dave_In_Norfolk's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
most politicians are always on a charm offensive- I'm speaking to a charm offensive for his base supporters (all us lefty liberal progressives)- he has been wooing independents and conservatives ( to no or very little effect) already. -

I've never seen a better opportunity for 3rd parties and independents - The Republicans are unpopular (people thought cutting meant waste, fraud, inefficiencies, programs that are outdated or nonsensical , subsidies to fat cats, etc) when they find cutting means medicaid, head start, PELL grants, and more importantly Social Security and Medicare they are very unhappy, AARPians are pissed and they vote plus while it's not true of this board most people have mothers and fathers- Rand followers of course were self created owing no debt of gratitude to anybody. Obama has made a calculation that his base has nowhere to go- recently Fareed Zakaria made the rounds basically saying Obama did the best he could and his base was being ridiculous for being pissed- to which the normally well thought of Zakaria got a lot of !@#$ you! stop trying to tell me chicken **** is chicken salad type comments. Polls have shown that Obama has lost support in the Hispanic community and even Black support has weakened- I expect Obama will soon go on a charm offensive but I doubt it will be overly effective, he is perceived more and more as a weakling or a wall street shill, inept or complicit or quoting The Rabbi "My father used to say: "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle." -
The Bills thought they were getting Chris Johnson when they drafted Spiller but they didn't get Chris Johnson they didn't even get Reggie Bush- and even during Chris Johnson's mind boggling 2009 season where Chris Johnson got 2006 rushing yards 503 receiving yards and 16 TDs the Titans went 8-8, it's nice to have a good RB but it's a passing league.

At What Point Do Nix and Gailey Own This Team
....lybob replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think you are pessimists I think you are realists - Pessimism would be saying Dareus will suck just because he is a Bill, but you take this offense and you compare the starters to other starters in the NFL and it isn't pretty - being generous I'd say maybe Wood, Levitre and Johnson break into the top 20 at their positions, maybe Fred and Fitz makes top 25-30, Chandler isn't in the top 40 TEs neither is our #2 WR - FB, OTs an RG are sad to even think about. -
I've watched Bell a long time and Denver was the worse I've seen him, the question is why? possible answers 1. Just had a really bad horrible awful no good day 2. Elvis Dumervil is his Nemesis - sometimes in sports there is someone who owns you even though you beat people who beat him- not quite the same in football but maybe Bell does really well against Julius Pepper but gets crushed VS Elvis Dumervil and Levitre does well against Elvis Dumervil but gets crushed against Julius Peppers. 3. There's a book on Bell now and he has to adjust. 4. His weight gain adversely effected him 5. His head isn't in the game and he has taken a step backwards 6. He was never as good as he sometimes looked because the Bills were doing all types of adjustments to help him - now Gaily left him on his own 7. His communication with Rinehart wasn't good

The Bills just don't have very much talent on offense - The Bills don't have a top 20 player in any skill position and probably doesn't have a top 10 guy at any position on offense.
-
most of those people complain and vent in the real world - Anyone good in sports ain't doing it just for the money they want to compete at a high level both as a team and as an individual, sports are suppose to be a meritocracy where performance equals position and pay Spiller is being bumped up because Nix and Chan have to justify using a 9th overall pick on the guy, and what is the penalty for speaking out getting traded? if I'm a 30 year old RB I wouldn't mind getting traded off a team that plans on competing some time in the future.

From what I've seen in games and practice Kamar Aiken is the #2 WR at least until Parrish is healthy.
-
CJ Spillers a home run threat every time he touches the Ball? yeah maybe but he also a threat to lose 4 yards every time he touches the ball- so far I haven't seen the strength and balance to break arm tackles, also haven't seen the vision and patience good backs have. Fans here dumped on Evans for being one dimensional but Spiller to me is even more so.
-
The Bills in my opinion make a lot of football decisions on things unrelated to peoples ability to play football- I don't know if they regard money, team spirit, hygiene, political leanings, politely listening to Ralph's stories or what, the Bills are also wildly inconsistent, you dump Evans cause you want to give young players more reps so why is Kelsay here- Kelsay is older, worse and just as expensive and what about Dwan Edwards and Spencer Johnson two older expensive guys taking reps from Dareus,Carrington,Dotson, Heard.

If he is willing to play WR, RB, TE, or OLB then I'm on Board. -

Raise The Debt Limit Already!
....lybob replied to Dave_In_Norfolk's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Oh but it is, every OC post is a logic trap- as the reason for reading and commenting on them defies all logic. it has been said "the only way to win is not to play the game" "his mind is a steel trap - full of mice" "look I know we are going to Crazytown but do we have to go the scenic route" and I agree -
Mexico is becoming a total Narco State - you need both to legalize drugs to take away the revenue stream from the cartels but also a strong presence to take on the gangs as they switch out of drugs to other forms of crime.

Alex Carrington reminded me a little bit of Richard Seymore his rookie year but now that he's put on 20lbs he reminds me a lot of Richard Seymore.
