Anyone who says Allen can make all the throws that Mahomes can really hasn't watched much of Mahomes. He can make a wider variety of throws and from more platforms than anyone who has ever played the game.............which is why he has one ring and really should have 2. Allen is a great arm talent too but his effectiveness is more the product of hard work and mechanical improvements........which is also a great plus.......but it's a difference. I love the fact that Allen has the chip on his shoulder and has faced adversity that Mahomes has not. Mahomes was a top prospect in 2 sports and the son of a long time MLB pitcher and he was basically handed the keys to an offense at a name college and was allowed to do his thing his way..........he's had very little adversity compared to Allen.......honestly in part because he was GREAT so quickly. But that edge that Allen has is something that so many QB's have turned into motivation to be the best. Case in point........if motivation/dedication was equal would Tom Brady or Drew Brees be better than a beast like Ben Roethlisberger? I don't think so. It matters.

Bills fan playoff Game 1 Attendee thread
BADOLBILZ replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quitting your season tickets in the offseason when McD was hired was neither an example of loyalty..........or particularly reasonable. It could be seen as funny that you did that tho'. You can be funny, I will give you that.😆 I don't dislike you.......I have never met you........I just make fun of hypocrisy. Bottom line........a lotta' people made business decisions with this team during the drought.........I get it and don't blame people for doing so........the Bills were a bad product. I've kept going because it's about supporting the fanbase/friendships and the region as much as the product. It's too bad you quit. You'd have definitely been in line to choose GOOD seats. 12 of our 30+ tailgate group have them including the mid-90's ones and there were even reportedly folks with McDermott era ST start dates. There really aren't THAT many old season tickets left anymore because people like you cut bait when their loyalty was tested. Those seats were quickly filled. We've been stacking them as they come free. -
Bills fan playoff Game 1 Attendee thread

I can confirm that you are that type. Shoulda' put your money where your mouth was all these years and had season tickets, handsome. PSA........If the Bills continue winning and any of you guys hope to get good playoff tickets in the non-quarantined future.........get season tix for next year ASAP........because with stadium capacity much lower than in the 90's and already a large season ticket holder base ALL of the tickets would have gone to season ticket holders if we had been allowed full capacity. There are barely enough non-ST seats in the building for each season ticket ACCOUNT to add just one ticket per game and some would buy 10 tickets if they could. Being a season ticket holder this week was like being a player after his team advanced to the SB.........every Tom, Dick and Mookie that hasn't been to a game since September of 2009 is checking in to see if you can hook them up. -
And you thought YOU were a hardcore fan...

The NFL tests they gave us were just a nasal swab..........not the deep stabber you hear about. -
Chan Gailey resigns as OC of Dolphins
BADOLBILZ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In fairness, Chan is a tremendous offensive mind............he can scheme a system to whatever talent he is given.........and subsequently made something of offenses that the system-bound Daboll would have finished dead last and been fired with. Gailey is like Wade Phillips.........Daboll is like Jim Schwartz. Both work.......one REQUIRES more talent than the other to be competent. I prefer the Bills stay with this system they are in and build on it and Chan is friggin' 69 years old at this point.......but he's no joke. -
Yeah he is full of hot air.....he literally said that Darnold had pretty much the same ceiling later in the segment.......... but there is some footage of his footwork and mechanics at the bottom of the article linked from when he signed with the Bills in camp in 2014.........so there is his footwork. Back then "Bills Roundup" meant "7-9? Pretty much .500".

Meh......nothing new..... just another Danny Crossman-lead special teams unit getting pantsed on the field in Buffalo.

Jets, Chargers request to interview Brian Daboll for HC

Yeah Dean Spanos needs to be more involved........like when he hired Mike McCoy prior to Anthony Lynn. -
Bit of Buffalove from Chris Simms Unbuttoned
BADOLBILZ replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best point they made was about not needing to be in the perfect play. That had been Daboll's biggest weakness in his first two seasons in Buffalo...........he LOVES the gotcha' plays..........and sometimes really what they've needed is to get in a rhythm with tempo or simpler play calls that don't necessarily leave the opposing defense with their pants around their ankles if everything goes right. Two former QB's get it. That drove me nuts in 2018-2019 when they didn't have the personnel to overcome all of the give-away downs and yardage. -
He had a few terrible games but in general he wasn't terrible in 2018, IMO. Inconsistent and inaccurate but he made up for it with athleticism and big plays. Some rookies and second year QB's have been great though........but that too is context which shouldn't be held against him.........that was a real low point for the roster after a really bad pro personnel year and a half from Beane and staff. If the OP is annoyed by that........how about my take that we probably owe a lot of his improvement to Tom Brady? Allen idolized Brady and he seems to have taken the same "never good enough" approach to his own development and success............and of course he's been indoctrinated into the same complex system that Brady ran.

Yes, SJ13 was a player who set a bad example by putting self promotion and emotion above team goals. In doing so he put himself in tough situations with his loud mouth that put pressure on him that he then couldn't handle in games and lead to key mistakes/drops. He also didn't keep himself in top condition and was subsequently constantly bothered by soft tissue injuries that compounded and prematurely shortened his career. People cite his 1,000 yard receiving seasons but they were mostly possible because he had a platform on a losing team where he could play undisciplined and get away with it. Most of the job of anyone on the football field, be it refs or cornerbacks, is anticipating what will happen so that you are close enough to do your job right at the moment of truth. SJ13 free-lanced and having the freedom to do that made it MUCH easier for him to get open.

Yeah it's been tried before and proven difficult to pull off without talent so I had my doubts they could get it done with the approach they used and new that it was going to take longer to get to SB contender status this way than the way the Rams did it. It's easy to just get rid of all of the players who have leverage(young stars recently paid or pending free agents) and leave yourself with a roster of players who really need this job the way they did in 2017. It's another thing to then actually execute the plan long enough for the roster to catch up talent-wise. He and Beane have done that. I like the love approach. That is a lot more individual work than the do-your-job Belichick approach but if you can pull it off it has legs with this generation of athletes and it's easier to root for. Even worked to their advantage with guys like Shaq and Phillips who are a bit immature to be ideal for the longer term goals in mind.......you can let them leave and call it a cap issue and no hard feelings. Of course no amount of process and culture works without the stud QB because you can't string together seasons like 2018........but that's kind of a given in the NFL.

We gotta' be in the stadium by like 11am for some reason so probably whatever they are selling at concession. Maybe a $7 slice of La Nova with the cup and char pepperoni? Maybe bring some Wegmans/DiBella's subs in our clear bags like a bunch of shmucks in case the only thing offered are those raunchy nachos? After fresh out the fire strip steaks and prime rib and wings every week this season it's going to be a sacrificial food day..........but someone's gotta' do it.
-
Sure they do.........Stevie was a pig in sheeeee-it with this dysfunctional franchise. There have been some doozies over the years..........Moulds quitting in Miami......Phillips back-to-back personal fouls more recently.........many more...........but SJ13 getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in NE after Gailey had pleaded with him not to do his dumb celebrations.......and basically forcing Chan to bench him and the team then collapsing and blowing a big lead..........that might have been the most absurd case of player selfishness in Bills history. But some people loved the irreverence because they think rules are stupid.
-
It's not factored into your equation..........but Addison was also a character signing. Shaq, even at his best, was always something of a character compromise. There was a time where they were so thin on defense(and so bad offensively) that they had to have guys like Shaq and Phillips around but they had choices last offseason and they chose wisely, IMO.

I never banged the drum for the Bills to hire Anthony Lynn as their HC. Was I greatly disappointed in the Rick Dennison hire and did I want to retain the very successful 2016 offensive playbook they had? Yes and that opinion angered you and many others. McD did the right thing admitting the mistake immediately and firing Dennison after just one woeful season(including the worst QB'd game in NFL history). Lynn appears to be a Wade Phillips level HC. Initially inspiring and capable of getting production by adapting his schemes to the personnel like few can. But the message falls on deaf ears after a while when it's clear that the HC isn't next-level prepared. His mistakes this year were like a mirror image of bad-Wade. Some of you loved Wade as a HC. When things went wrong for Wade they went REAL wrong. But ultimately he was a hell of an assistant coach and so is Lynn.

I think you better review the tape, bud. He had moments on the field where he was just totally out of control and hurt the team. That's not missed. Nice pass rusher........terrible against the run.........fun guy on social media........but either way the team is much more disciplined without him.
-
Big Stuff was Dareus. Some fans just love irreverent clowns like Phillips and Stevie Johnson. One of the worst things about the drought was seeing a generation of fans who only knew losing learn to idolize losers like that who would selfishly put themselves in front of the team with stupid personal foul penalties and bulletin board material etc.. McBeane has done a good job managing a range of personalities but giving dudes like that big money makes it even harder to reign in their antics.
-
As I said at the time......well done by McBeane not giving Shaq the 5th year extension. That's the only reason they got any good football out of him at all. Jordan Phillips was a long prior proven unaccountable dude on a contract run as well. They got the most out of both of them.
