  1. Ok then every man his own wife if that's what it takes.
  2. I agree with this. Actually I think we could get a lot more out of our receiver group than we do. Not saying they are great but they are surely better than their performance/production. To me Palmer is a solid #3, which I think is how he has generally been considered, Shakir is a good slot, Moore can properly fill the #4 and Kincaid, while not technically a wide receiver, is an important and capable weapon in the passing game. Coleman I continue to have hope for but clearly he is a developmental player. So what we lack is probably a #1 and maybe also a #2. We have a couple of backs who are capable of catching passes at short and intermediate field depth, but we don't use them that way. But beyond the holes in the WR complement, the bigger problem is the scheme adopted for the passing game, although the two things are of course connected. It's quite apparent I think that the Bills decided while Diggs was here that not only would they become a run first team but that the passing game would conservatively support that approach. It was also part of the thinking underlying the drafting of Coleman instead of some of the other guys who were available. I don't know who exactly was responsible for this decision but it was a bad one even if Beane thought he could defend it. Maybe somebody should be fired. We will see what they do. If they stick with it and stand pat we can forget having any dreams of a championship this year. Indeed it already may well be too late.
  3. Happy for Fields, even if he's a Jet. Guy has taken a lot of abuse.
  4. James Cook. More yards per carry by far than Adrian Peterson's record game. And Adrian played all 4 quarters.
  5. It will be enuf today. Not next week.
  6. Good #3 imo, then they have a good slot. After that pretty much nothing.
  7. He should roll right 100% of the time lol
  8. You can't know that for sure when Burrow has Chase and Higgins.
  9. Under cover of not wanting him to have to do everything and play hero ball. The real reason is that their WR room is inadequate.
  10. Something else to at least bear in mind when considering BTJ is that in 2024 he was basically force fed targets because he was really all they had. He was their featured receiver. Now they have more talent at the position and they have therefore asked him to do more, to develop and diversify his routes like a true #1. He has so far failed to do that. Could it be that if he is not featured quite the way he would like he loses interest? Remember Diggs? BTJ has all the ability in the world. He has proven that he can run great routes. He has great footwork at the line and can easily beat press man coverage. Steve Smith says he has more natural ability than Malik Nabers if you can believe that. The difference according to Smith is that Nabers is a dog and BTJ is not. He may wind up a bit more of a role player and high end #2.
  11. Meyers is good but not a field stretcher, which is the skill set our receiver room requires. Shaheed or BTJ. The message Meyers sends is a commitment to the existing offensive scheme/philosophy where everything is underneath and in front of the D. As the great Ed Reed has said, it's a lot easier to run forwards than peddle back.
  12. I really have to wonder whether any of BTJ's problems this year have as much to do with his utilization as with quarterback play. This year the new brain trust in Jax wanted to increase his use in the slot to take advantage of his quickness and ability to separate, and indeed his slot presences have greatly increased. Well y'know the patterns you run from the slot typically attack the short and intermediate parts of the field between the numbers where there are more guys looking to take your head off. So you have to at least consider the possibility that he is limited to the boundaries with, functionally, a more limited route tree. For those wanting to send two firsts for him I would caution that, talented though he is, he's probably not J. Chase or Beckham Jr in his prime. In today's game one of the assignments for great X receivers is to emphasize their quickness and speed. Get the ball in their hands right away and let them take it to the house. Maybe BTJ can't really do that and maybe that's why as a bad scheme fit they want to get rid of him.Sure he can stretch the field (like Cooper could) but you would want your #1 WR to do more than that. As for his availability he is definitely available If the team has indicated that they would "listen to calls". Could well be that they would be amenable to a reasonable commercial deal rather than an overpay. Don't know whether it has anything to do with his troubles this year but if memory serves one of the "negatives" in his pre-draft evaluation was inconsistent motivation ie "not sure he loves football" type deal. Blew hot and cold. I might prefer Shaheed myself. I was concerned about his torn meniscus but he is fully recovered. He has logged the fastest game speed time recorded across the entire league this year - faster than Chase, faster than BTJ. And he has been an all pro in the return game. You'd get a good look and could decide whether to offer him a contract. Sure BTJ comes with an affordable 2+.year contract and fifth year option but let's be sensible that's not a freebie - you have to pay for that.
  13. I didn’t want Coleman, Mitchell was my guy. I was able to tolerate his occasional absence of effort/not playing at full speed when not targeted etc.. but when news broke of his occasional behavioural issues what with not taking his meds etc…I realized that it was unlikely we would draft him. I say I didn’t want Coleman but I wasn’t against it like others were. I thought then and continue to think that he could develop into a productive player, maybe even a very productive player, but I dont think the Bills have done him and his development any favours. They may be putting his career in jeopardy. Clearly for a young guy not named Randy Moss lining him up almost exclusively outside, and more even than real X receivers do in today’s game by the way (including BTJ) the ask was probably too much (as well as downright dumb). The Bills O needs a genuine X receiver. If they had that, as well as maybe a little imagination scheme wise/gameplanning/playcalling, a guy like Coleman would have a much better chance of developing properly. It’s probably unfair and inaccurate to say so but i’ve always gotten a strong Jauron whiff from McD. Anyway whats apparent is that these guys just dont know wide receivers. Just look around the league.
  14. I too can share an Ngata story. His draft year I was attending a conference in Portland Oregon and the guy sitting next to me was a Dr. from Eugene and, it turned out, a big college football fan. I knew everyone was mocking Ngata to us and I had noticed some downside comments in the scouting reports so I asked him about it. He told me not to worry, that they were failing to consider the number of double and triple teams he got, and that Ngata was a can't miss perennial pro bowler. I left the luncheon totally relieved and confident that we were about to do the right thing.
