  1. I think (hope) that maybe they come up big. D needs to continue stepping up.
  2. Every great player is unique so there is no clear comparable. Obviously Elway and (a more athletic) Ben R. Now that he's less of a gunslinger I wouldn't compare Josh to Favre. Before his career was derailed by injury Bert Jones was pretty much the best and most dominant player on the field. Tough as nails and a great passer.
  3. I guess that's what you call retrospective analysis. Fortunately not all talking heads are idiots. I think it was Greenie the other day who said that Josh Allen was the best QB he had ever seen, better than Elway his previous fav.
  4. I get the point and it's a good one but Cooper can do a lot more than draw coverage. In what remains of the season I'd like to see Josh and Cooper develop more chemistry in advance of the playoffs. I noticed a couple of plays versus the Lions where Coop had cleanly beaten his man on the outside for what looked to be 6 points. On one occasion it seemed to me like Josh looked his way but wound up going to the opposite side of the field.
  5. He says he likes it in Minni and would only leave if the opportunity was really to his liking.
  6. Brian Flores is a top DC imo and I love his scheme. Far cry from what we do.
  7. Difference between a healthy Mahomes and Wentz is huge imo. Maybe their D sees them through if Wentz plays but at this time of year against teams that have something to play for that outcome to me is very uncertain.
  8. And Ragnow is a very tough guy. No pushover.
  9. Upgrades are always welcome but if we went into next year with the same complement on offence (or equivalent) as we have now (including the OC) I would be content. You shouldn't need more than the greatest show on turf. Beane has done a great job of rebuilding the O line and drafting/finding weapons for Allen. We see the results. Now in the upcoming offseason he needs to do the same thing filling in the holes on defence. I think he should be able to do that and if he does you have an absolute juggernaut. That's what I want.
  10. All NFL teams have good football players on the roster. Good coaches put players in position to succeed bearing in mind their particular aptitudes, skills and the requirements of the team's schemes and philosophy. A great quarterback can bring out the very best in what players on offence have to offer. Josh Allen certainly does that. But that is as far as it goes imo. Success is inevitably a collective effort from the ground up involving all aspects of the organization as a whole. The Bills are one of the best organizations in the game. Josh Allen may very well be the best player on the planet but there are plenty of other outstanding contributors here without which Josh's talent, great as it is, would be wasted. And then of course there is Brady, Kromer and the rest of the coaching staff.
  11. Agree. I think Campbell understood that he was probably looking at a four, maybe five minute Bills drive that would result in more points, likely a TD. Lions were pretty much in desperation mode from the get go.
  12. I don't like fearful coaches either but I'm good with prudent ones. We may well gain some insight into how the Bills themselves interpret the situation when we see who they trot out there. And I certainly agree that all other things being equal giving Bishop reps is something that he can only benefit from at this point.
  13. I think Campbell's decision to onside kick was a sound one. What is the reasonably to be expected outcome of that play? It's that the onside kick will fail (having a 7% success rate statistically) and that the Bills take possession around the Lions 45 yard line (as was the result following the second onside kick attempt). If they just kickoff, the Bills take possession on their own 30. That's a 25 yards difference. How long do you think it would take Josh Allen and that O to make up 25 yards? Campbell is no fool. To the contrary he knew by then exactly what he was up against and what his D was capable of in the circumstances. Retaining or obtaining possession by any means was crucial to his chances of succeeding imo. I think he understood that his chances were in any event slight.
  14. What if Mahomes is out for say 2 of the Chiefs remaining games (which has at least been rumoured) so that we have a shot at the #1 seed. Does that change the calculus at all? I'd be ok with Elam but Bishop is a raw rookie who has not seen much playing time.
  15. Watching Ed destroy their center reminded me of a YouTube video where a lion ate a hippo alive.
  16. Yeah, McD mentioned that the Allen-Cooper chemistry was still very much a work in process and that both players would acknowledge that.
  17. Ok thank you now I know why I was shaking my head when JA made that throw. Ball got to Coleman much faster than I expected.
  18. Channeling my inner McD I would not play a rook like Bishop who has had limited playing time in his complicated scheme in any meaningful game, certainly not in the playoffs. The fear is that he would be beaten cleanly like Williams did to him yesterday.
  19. Kudos are nice. Cash is nicer. Get er done.
  20. I liked Darius Butler's (former DB) reaction to the clip he posted - "ridiculous".
  21. Depending upon severity of course isn't even a couple of weeks a quick recovery from a high ankle sprain? Maybe he'd be in a boot if it was a bad one.
  22. Yesterday we saw Josh Allen, a right handed QB roll out to his left and without pivoting and planting throw a dime laser to James Cook to his right while still proceeding towards the boundary all in one motion. That is something that is simply not supposed to happen.
  23. I think Allen has not been sacked in the last four games. Beane and Kromer have done a great job with the O-line. And Josh has not been the only beneficiary. They are a big part of the reason Cook has been so effective running inside the tackles.
