  1. IMO only Spiller and Chris Johnson are the two backs in the league that make both of those 20 yd runs by CJ last night. Any other back in the league gets shoved out of bounds after 5-7 yds. That speed to beat the cb to the corner gets me real excited about this kid.
  2. LOL! first time in history that Dick Jauron was compared to Britney Spears! I love it!
  3. If captain checkdown is the opening day starter I agree with this one 100% lol!
  4. and that's what my thoughts were too...I think it was quite insulting to us in Bills Nation to suggest that we're the worst team in the league. We've been hovering around mediocrity for 10 years but we haven't been as bad as the national media would like to think we are. This was a refreshing read. And yes a couple of bad bounces we may be 31...a couple of good bounces we may be 12... I'm really excited for this season. It's gonna be awesome to pound some fish week 1!
  5. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...gs.3a223bc.html this is the first pre-season ranking that I've seen that doesn't focus on what the Bills didn't do and focussesed on how they may be better. He gives props to the Andra Davis signing...which is a signing I think will make the Bills significantly better on D. And his ranking of 21 also agrees with with my thoughts that they should be better this year than they were last (they finished 24). I always take these rankings with a grain of salt, but the fact that he ranked the Jests 10 and the Patsies 11 shows me that he actually thinks for himself, and doesn't just regurgitate the crap that other idiots write. GO BILLS!!
  6. Steve Wyche last year rated the Bills' draft terrible because they didn't draft enough starters to make an impact immediately. That is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard until this year in this article where he discusses TB: "22. Buccaneers -- Tampa Bay could be this season's sleeper team -- if the rookies all step up. That's asking a lot. They should be a lot better, especially on offense, but not quite yet." You'll note that he makes two statements 1) TB could be a sleeper team if the rookies step up and 2) they should be a lot better. you'll note that he quickly contradicts each statement by saying that asking the rookies to step up is quite a big ask and that they should be better but not yet - I'm not sure how that makes them this year's sleeper team and worthy of a ranking higher than 10 other teams in the league when they were only better than 2 other teams last year, but I digress. I can't believe this guy gets paid to say that kind of stuff.
  7. is anybody really surprised that some know-nothing hack regurgitated the exact same thing that Peter King said last week? It would take talent and effort for these guys to accurately report on all 32 teams, which none of them have. If they cared they could probably check out this board and at least get accurate info on the Bills which would be more refreshing than the crap that they spew now.
  8. I love this! Every "analyst" out there regurgitates the same crap that the guy said the day before. Somebody caught the "Davis is set to play OLB" comment clayton made which is news to I'm pretty sure everybody on this board. The guy didn't even do any research for that article. Somebody after the draft mentioned that Arthur Moats may be the steal of the draft, and then all I could find for three days were articles by guys raving about the Moats pick...just hilarious.
  9. Keep in mind these are the same writers that wanted Merriman to win the Def POY the year he was suspended 4 games for substance abuse. Hypocrites!
  10. Michael Lombardi's the biggest douche on the NFLN (and that's saying something). On the draft broadcast he had this to say: On the Bills picking Spiller: Lombardi - "I don't know who's going to block there in Buffalo, they're already deep at RB and now they take another one. This is a terrible pick." On the Giants picking Pierre-Paul (who similarly have depth at DL and have other needs) - "I love this pick, this guy is going to be able to take his time to develop behind the other starters there." It may be just me, but I don't see the difference in the two picks other than Lombd*ckhead had them picking either Claussen or the great white bust Bulaga in every mock he published. The Bills should be hanging every word of these idiots in their locker room.
  11. We beat them last year and we'll beat them again this year. The jets suck, they were essentially 8-8 last year and beat a bad CIN and a bad SD team in the playoffs. The Bills have a better shot at the playoffs this year than the jets. They traded in their all pro RB for a washed up former all pro, they picked up a CB that SD didn't want and they picked up jason taylor (I don't think I have to say how much of a bum he is). Then they cut their all pro G in favour of a rookie 2nd rounder...like people, stop drinking the damn kool aid that clark judge throws out there. The jets will be 7-9 this year.
  12. You gotta know that only 3 QBs will be on the roster come September. IMO either Fitz or captain checkdown get cut. The funny part is, the guy who may project to be the #3 QB on the roster is the only guy assured of not getting cut (I saw one post that has him on the practice squad which could happen but I think they'll want him on the sidelines next year to get that experience). Captain checkdown will have every opportunity to win the starting gig and I think he gets cut when Chix sees how there's no difference between him and Brohm except that trentative will be a distraction and Brohm won't. 1. Brohm 2. Fitz 3. Brown They've basically said they want Brown to be the QB of the future and Brohm must know that this may be his last good shot at making it in the NFL.
  13. I went to the season opener last year in NE and it was awesome! I was the most hated guy in Foxborough for about 58 mins of that game. The NE fans are pretty arrogant but if you have fun with them I found they had fun with me back. Anyway, the stadium is a great venue, the only downside is its about 60 miles from Boston (and we stayed in Boston) so it was quite a time getting there and back. if you're going just for the game / tailgate I'd recommend staying in Foxborough.
  14. If we can turn the 2-4 in the division into 4-2 (which isn't impossible) then we've got a fighting chance at 8-8 / 9-7. We're basically fielding the same offense that somehow managed 6 wins last year (5 maybe I guess) but it'll be improved in the coaching alone. This D should be able to stop the run AND the pass this year which should translate into a couple of more wins. nobody in the division outclassed us last year and I'm not ready to annoint the Jets the SB champs like seemingly every sportswriter on the continent. We should have beat the patsies twice last year. I'm actually really looking forward to this season, its gonna be the first step in the right direction that we've taken in a long time. By 2011 this team will be ready to make some noise.
  15. That's a hell ya! Nothing about this team upsets me to the point I'm not going to follow them. If cap'n checkdown is the starter it'll make it tough, but I have to think that if he is the starter he'll be on a short leash and should know it. I want to see Spiller, the D should be real solid too. Like a lot of other guys I'm a fantasy whoore and so that factors in too. Being in western Canada no Sunday ticket means a healthy dose of the patsies and this season I imagine jets which I can't stand too. I'm actually planning a trip to a game at the Ralph this year, I think they're gonna take us on a wild ride
  16. I'm begging, somebody please write the headline "Bills Select Big Wang to be LT of the Future"
  17. Actually he was projected as a third round pick. He was ranked 91 overall by NFLDraftScout.com.
  18. Thank you! common sense has no place on this board...look at this thread. Seriously?? we're talking about adding a 31 yr old back up RB when we've got two starting caliber RBs on the roster...and some people LIKE this move? and Steve Wyche is the biggest idiot NFLN has (and that's saying something)...he couldn't point out Buffalo on a map
  19. The week that he was demoted he twice walked away from some reporters who asked him about it. I guess that's why there are no quotes from him. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/article/20...-practice-squad I also noticed on the sidelines that Brohm seemed to be more involved than TE was. When Fitz was reviewing the plays from the previous series Brohm would be right there with him and captain checkdown would hang out alone at the other end of the bench. Seeing that really showed me that he's got no fight in him, he's a p**sy.
  20. Joey Porter or Adalius Thomas and some second rate NT
  21. As a Canadian I think I'm qualified enough to comment on the NHL cap. The small market teams in the NHL were getting screwed royally by the large market teams prior to the cap. The Bobby Holik deal to the Rangers back in the day paid a guy who was a decent player at the time $5 mil per year (huge at the time in Hockey) because the Rangers were looking for a checking F who could score 15 G. Martin Lapointe signed a huge contract with Boston in 2001 that to this day is referred to as the deal that created the need for a cap (I think it was $5 mil per year). These guys were not worth the money that GMs were paying for them and agents used these $$ when similar players were negotiating contracts, effectively inflating the value of their clients. In the early 2000's big market teams like NYR, ST.L, DET etc, were able to buy players similar to what the Yankees and Red Sox do now leaving small market teams trying to build through the draft. Nothing wrong with this system if you draft well except that once that rookie contract expires, the good players will be bought through FA by the big markets. The cap in the NHL makes a GM spend wisely, which the NFL cap did as well. To create a level playing field a minimum and a maximum cap was put in place for the NHL. The NFL has a minimum as well. Last year at the trading deadline the NHL had a record number of trades. The reason you don't see trades in the NFL as much is because of the bonus structure and its effect on the cap. A guy's salary may be $2 mil but his cap hit may be $6 mil because of his prorated bonus. If the cap goes away in the NFL, so do the Bills. They can't survive in a world where the best talent goes to the highest bidder in an uncontrolled marketplace.
  22. The Rams have used a first round pick on DL twice in the past 3 yrs, you really think they'll use a #1 overall so they can pay a DT that kind of cash and have probably half of their money invested on an uproven DL? The Rams have more holes to fill than us, their fans had better hope they don't "sure up" a line that's already young and expensive. Bradford's going to the Rams at #1. The only way that doesn't happen is if they trade out of it, in which case a QB is still going #1 because nobody's trading up to take Suh, McCoy or Berry. Once that happens, if the Bills want a QB they have to hope that none of the other 4 teams ahead of them take Claussen. No way that Bradford or Claussen make it to #9. Detroit's smart if they are shopping the pick, because Buffalo and Cleveland can't sit back and hope a QB falls to them. Detroit can still get the player they want drafting later in the top 10.
  23. Actually IMO (as always) the Bills lost the NE game because captain checkdown couldn't move the ball 25 yards for a FG try on that last possession. ...probably a discussion for another thread but I'll take any chance I can to spread the bad word about numbn*ts Edwards. On topic, I actually think as well that the Bills aren't as far off. I said to some buddies after Gailey was hired (which was underwhelming) that if they kept TO (which they didn't), got McNabb (when that was a popular rumour) and signed Joey Porter that they would be a playoff team. Obviously that's not going to happen now, but the secondary was awesome last year, LBs were decimated so that'll have to be fixed but all in all, our D kept opponents off the scoreboard (9 games under 20 pts and we lost 4 of those). Find someone who can move the ball and we may have a playoff team.
  24. The Bills' 7-9 years were not that far out of the playoffs. Granted the Vikes were a playoff team I'll give you that, but adding a QB won them three more games and put them in the NFC championship. and I didn't suggest a rookie QB, I want a QB...something which the Bills don't have right now.
