  1. In the End by Linkin Park For those of you that somehow don't know it, here's an excerpt of the lyrics: One thing I don't know why It doesn’t even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme To explain in due time All I know time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down to the end of the day The clock ticks life away It’s so unreal Didn’t look out below Watch the time go right out the window Trying to hold on but didn’t even know Wasted it all just to Watch you go I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter
  2. Today we're 21st - getting better, but still pi$$ poor! C'mon people!!
  3. I understand how the Bills can be ranked 27th in lots of categories, but Bills fans usually step up for these things. Given it's for our troops too, check it out. http://www.millionfansalute.com/
  4. That's funny - I'd heard that those pro-pot propositions passed yesterday but I didn't know they already went into effect!! Love the optimism, but let's be real. If we win (which we can), it'll be in a very high scoring game... btw - w A Williams out, McKelvin pressed into a starter roll, and Rogers/Easley both now on the roster, anyone else expect some changes in our return game this week?
  5. Two open spots?! Might we be bringing back ex Pats Doug Flutie and Drew Bledsoe?! btw- when do we get Brady's washed up carcass?
  6. Awesome!! I'd heard he's been working out at DE and has a really good feel for how to create some pass rush!! Seriously - what could this mean? That they think Tavaris is worse than VY? That they've lost confidence in Fitz and are replacing him this bye week, cold turkey like Trent? It makes no sense...
  7. Wait - here's a paranoid thought... Anyone think he'd trade Bowe and a draft pick for Welker? Seems like something the Pats would do - get rid of the non-conformist as they did Seymour, get a great player in return that can fill in capably, and somehow get the better of the deal? TOTAL speculation - but what do you all think?
  8. Yes - Martin was the guy signed when Brooks went on IR. Brooks will come back as a gunner replacing Martin. No need to cut anyone else for numbers reasons (though others have noted the lack of utility we're currently seeing out of a few guys). So Meriman stays and Anderson eventually comes back in, and if we're lucky, is back in time to either replace Meriman before he gets injured again or soon enough to limit Meriman's reps so that perhaps he can play out the season (prob wishful thinking).
  9. It'd be great if we could get him for the equivalent of Marshawn's package. I'd be surprised if Nix isn't working this hard - Bowe is an LSU alum, and we all know how much Nix wants the Bills to be the all-SEC team. But Pioli is buds with Belichickenhead, so I doubt he's going to us or Miami. Pioli will do what's best for KC, but if it's a push between offers from Miami, Buffalo and another team, my gut says another teams gets him. That's all if he's willing to lose his fan base to admittedly rebuilding totally from the ground up - again. I think he ultimately stays in KC.
  10. Hopefully! I think we've long-overlooked the opportunity to have both a punter for distance and another punter for directional punts.
  11. But we cut two guys (Snow & Ross)... anyone have a sense as to who else we're bringing in? ROOSEVELT?!!! Are we getting the band back together!!
  12. The Redskins need a kicker. We have two, and presumably Potter was drafted and kept to be not just a kickoff specialist but to eventually supplant Lindell if he proved to be more accurate over the course of the year. Given the need for the extra roster spot, and apparently the on-going need to get depth with more later round picks, is this the time to say farwell to our second long-term special teams ace in as many months?
  13. Guess it just goes to show it's all about where you sit. I was in Chicago for that game and it was the worst I'd ever been treated - and I've been to Miami, Denver, SD, and Oakland. The Niners fans near us were great - mostly, as others have noted - because they felt more pity than anything. But even if it were more competitive, they seemed like generally good peeps. Anyway - guess the moral is - if you go to the opposing team's stadium, it's a crap shoot. Sorry we missed the bigger Lot H tailgate. We didn't know about the pre-paid parking tix and ended up having a smaller, but also fun, tailgate in the dirt lots north of the Stick. Thanks to all those that made it a great time (till kickoff)!!
  14. +1! I think it'll be interesting to hear what, if anything, the team does. Certainly being out of Buffalo this week is a very, very good thing. It's a tough spot - who on the coaching staff or roster has the ability to shake this off. I don't know, but to sandyclam's point - hopefully they go on a mojo manhunt and come up big. Who knows - Fitz is from Arizona. Maybe it's in his storage unit or something.
  15. Practice against UNLV? Get Tony Robbins in the locker room? Send the team by helicopter into the bottom of the Grand Canyon and make them hike out? What would you do to try to build some sense of team pride and return a collectively-positive attitude to the field?
  16. Wheres everyone at since gate 2 was prepaid parking only?
  17. Yep - will be there with a bunch of Bills fans, a couple Niners fans and two Bears fans for good measure. If anyone wants to caravan in together, our folks are currently planning on meeting at a parking lot off the Oyster Point exit (the First Databank lot). We're meeting at 9AM and intend to leave around 9:15AM for the Candlestick lots. We may leave a bit later than that, but not by much. For those of you taking Muni in, I'm not sure exactly where we'll be but we can update this thread if that'll help. As I've said to several friends - I have no idea how we'll play, but Bills fans will DEFINITELY win the tailgate!! But I'm not so down on the Bills for this game. Of course we're a longshot - but I have some hope that we'll see a much more competitive game. Bob - I know I owe you a message back. Sorry!
  18. Never going to happen. The only reason he's not starting is because Harbaugh wants to give him another year before throwing him out there. You already see he's trying to get his feet wet with putting him for occassional packages. They're very high on the kid - just want to give him time in the system.
  19. Fair point - so does this initiative imply that whoever buys the team won't have access to capital at really low rates? I have no idea what the cost of capital on debt for such a deal would cost. And though $100M low/no interest loan would surely help, I wonder what a city like LA could do to help finance it (float large bonds, help coordinate private low interest options?). Man - just seems like it's a reality that it can't be as profitable for either the owners or the NFL itself to have the team where it belongs. And given Goodell's willingness to sully "the Shield" for such a relatively small amount of money with the ref situation, do we truly think there's a chance? I pray so, and hopefully such creative financing mechanisms and willpower will help make it happen.
  20. Though I agree w the other post that Stanford will be easier to get to, it's easy to get to Cal via BART (I say while on my way back from the Cal game). But 1) Stanford has the better team, 2) it is easier to get to, and 3) Cal has homecoming vs UCLA next weekend so it'll be both packed and more pricey than usual. As far as the car rental - totally depends on where you stay. I have friends in from out of town and we're avoiding the city like the plague. My personal recommendation if you plan to go to the Stanford game is to stay near CalTrain and then you can take transit from SFO and to the game. And there are lots if cool shops/restaurants/bars in downtown Palo Alto and Menlo Park near Stanford.
  21. Is $100M enough of a dent to make it profitable enough to stay in Buffalo? Great idea and I love the creativity but I'd think we'd need to be contributing significantly more - like $250M+. And even so, when looking at the interest on that amount versus additional revenue from advertising / luxury boxes / seat license fees in a larger market, how does this stack up?
  22. Forgive the misplaced post / me looking ahead, but... A bunch of folks and I will be at the Niners/Bills game. Where would I find more info on tailgate coordination? I hear Kenny will be out here, and that it's generally "the" big road game of the year for a lot of folks from WNY to attend, but right now I don't have any further color on how to coordinate with anyone else that'll be there. I know the worst case scenario is get there early and drive around till I see some Bills flags, but it'd be great to coordinate in advance if possible. If any of you have an idea, please let me know. Thanks!
  23. Speaking of seldom-used backs: Does anyone know what the deal is with Dorin Dickerson? With Spiller out I'd have expected him to be playing a more relevant role. I had to check to even see if he was on the roster / active. Seems like if are ever going to use him, today/next week would be the time.
