  1. I heard that too. Logic tree: - All good coordinators do not necessarily make good head coaches - Past coordinator success is often but not always a predictor of future coordinating success - Past head coaching success is often but not always a predictor of future head coaching success - Gailey had good success as OC, minimal success as HC - Gailey would be an acceptable choice for our OC but not for our HC Just bc Cowher thought he'd make a good OC for us (and he might), I'm surprised and disappointed that the front office is overlooking his inability to be successful as a head coach. I wonder how Russ can possibly convince us otherwise. [sigh]
  2. On the day they officially announce Gailey's signing, Buffalo will officially be down to one professional sports franchise. The only rationale for this move: it will make it easier to move the team.
  3. GAILEY?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... The good ol' boy network at it again. I can't believe we have a wide open shot at all but 31 people on the planet Earth and this is who we will select... Seems like Dungy did a pretty good job with picking Caldwell, so if he says Frazier will make a good coach and his defenses the last several years confirm that, why would we pick a college coach with marginal success at both the pro and college levels? If I were a season ticket holder, I would be FURIOUS instead of just unbelievably ticked. UGH. Pray that it's just a diversion.
  4. Tipster - All I know is that Bills fans are the most hearty in the country, and I say this having lived around the country. To root for a team that has NEVER won a championship (two teams for us Sabres fans), to come back year after year, to continually brave the elements and sell out games even with a community the fraction of most others in the NFL and a revenue base that's shrinking and to do so when there's nothing left to be won - that's a Bills fan. That sense of hope and loyalty will somehow get you through this too. You're not the only one looking for work - esp not in WNY - so hang in there. Good luck - we all deserve a couple of bounces to go our way!
  5. Yeah - we're looking really solid in the middle. Maybe there's a LB on the Packers practice squad we can sign!
  6. Sorry to hear about your FIL's passing. Try: www.buffalobillsproshop.com or www.lauxsportinggoods.com if you're looking for something based in Buffalo.
  7. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...5f-81237acedeca UGH!!
  8. Are you saying that based on the fact he practiced on a limited basis, or is there something else? The AP article said he was unlikely to play too. Thank heavens we have John McCargo ready to roll though!!
  9. Wouldn't know, but he's been right with other things before so I trust him.
  10. It may be irrelevant, as I just heard through the grapevine that he's been cut. The source is a friend of a Bill and I believe it to be credible.
  11. I hope more people show up at the airport for Shanahan than TO!!
  12. WOOHOO!!! This sounds downright definitive - "Buffalo has contacted and is in the process of arranging a meeting with former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, according to two NFL sources." The down side - they also want to speak to Gilbride and Haslett. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4667849
  13. Russ SHOULD stay. He's not the one making the decisions on the player/personnel side. As long as he sticks to the business-side, I am psyched for him to stay. The most important thing we need to keep the Bills in Buffalo is to maximize revenues - both at 1BD and away from it. Russ has done a great job of keeping the franchise viable. I agree with the other posts - Brandon knows that his job is way easier when the fans buy in, and we all want a vet with a proven track record. Now - if he can convince RW of that is another story...
  14. Well - now that his first news conference is over... Was anyone able to pull anything of any value out of that? I got nothing other than they let Jauron say goodbye personally to the staff. I loved Fewell's answer to how his Bills would be different than Jauron's - "we're going to be the Buffalo Bills". ENLIGHTENING!!
  15. Cowher, Shanahan, or bust. But the smart money is on Charlie Weis
  16. Speaking on behalf of the entire broke-ass population out here in CA, I'm going to have to say we can only afford a stadium if the contractors will take IOUs and the team payroll can be paid in chalupas.
  17. It depends. If Brian Moorman can both run for a TD on a fake AND throw for one, and we only fumble in FG range three times, it's just crazy enough that it could happen!!
  18. ... for the front office to keep you engaged this season? For me: - Use of bathroom in Ralph's box - 8 1/2 foot wooden carving of Pinto Kenny (not stolen) - Free operation from the Bills surgeon of my choice - Opportunity to dress up as an opposing player at OBD - play peek-a-boo with offensive linemen until they don't get startled You?
  19. Ryan's just bitter to be on a team that's actually worse than the one he coached last year that lost to us (the Raiders)!
  20. Season tickets to come with annual supply of pain pills?
  21. Never, never, never could I root against the Bills. People that think it needs to get that bad before Ralph and/or the front office realizes a change is necessary seem to miss the obvious - if they fail to make the playoffs, they won't sell half the season tickets they did this year so they'd financially NEED to make a change. Dick would be gone and everyone knows it and stated it to the press. Though I empathize with the pain we're all feeling, I'd rather have my so-so team to root for in Buffalo than give up 3/4 of a season to despair and woe. Those wishing to test the shocks of the bandwagon by jumping off will make it easier for the real fans to circle the wagons. GO BILLS!!
  22. They've had one REALLY crappy game all around, and one more really bad game just on O. I can't believe that we're all this down-trodden. What about the Cards last year before they faced us - or SD? They each seemed to do pretty well for themselves with the remaining 12 games. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but we're not anywhere near as bad as everyone wants to believe. If the Bills were a stock, they'd be greatly over-sold at this point. Buy, Buy, Buy!!!!
  23. How do people consider themselves true fans if they're willing to give up on the season so quickly? Seriously - we totally blew chunks last week. But before that, everyone was thinking we were a few down-field passes away against NO from being 2-1. My - how one game tests the shocks on the bandwagon. Man up, y'all! We might not make the playoffs (but maybe we will) and we're going to be better than last week.
  24. Okay - so I'm looking for something (ANYTHING) to make me feel better about what's to come this Sunday, and the rest of the season. At the risk of being admonished, here are a few points: This Week: - Bell will be back - Mitchell in the middle with Palmer weak-side this week seems like a better plan than Buggs in the middle (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3/Mitchell-moves-to-the-middle/132b5546-c654-4e04-9141-cf4bb55002e8) - No Braylon Edwards for the secondary to cover (this week), and RBs that don't really compare to Ronnie Brown - I heard Shawn Nelson wished for a Bills win when he blew out the candles at his b-day party in NYC yest - Mangini is someone the team has experience game-planning against The Season: - Last week we started our 3rd and 4th string tackles - line is bound to get better, esp if we get an experienced RT - Whitner, Poz, and Scott will be back between games ~6-8 - Marshawn should be back in game shape - We still have the best receiving corps in the league, and I'd argue the best 1-2 RB punch - Dick's not stupid, so I expect some personnel moves to bolster our weakest positions, starting with trading Roscoe *soon* Now, I KNOW I can poke holes in any one of these points. But c'mon folks - someone give me reason to think we can pull off a Minnesota Twins' style late-season comeback... (and remember - the Twins started off pretty bad as well)
  25. Too slow. Lynch is more of a power runner. If you're going to put an RB back there, it'd be Jackson. I'd rather see Stevie Johnson or James Hardy (assuming either are in shape enough to run). But ultimately, we know Roscoe can do the job (and they're shopping him, so need him to perform).
