  1. Much appreciate the forewarning, but not too concerned. I've been to Bills games games at Miami, Chicago, Denver and San Diego, and a Bears game in Oakland when things were rougher. Though each stadium is different, I've found two fundamental rules apply: expect to take some grief and shrug it off like a good fan, and don't act like a jerk and people won't usually be too belligerent. Plus, going in a big group with mixed fans is pretty helpful, which is what we're doing. Anyway - if anyone wants to tailgate together, we have our 12 folks (LB15) and a few others that we watch Bills games with in Los Altos. If anyone lets me know in the next day or so, I'd be happy to get extra hot dogs, etc. for ya! Otherwise, at least we can still party together and it's byo.
  2. Is it too early to start planning for the Bills/Niners tailgate? I was about to order some Sahlens hot dogs and have an email into Genessee about getting some Genny Cream Ale (Labatt Blue is pretty easy to find, so we'll have some of that too) If anyone is interested in either a) trying to caravan into the stadium to stake out a Bills section in the parking lot and/or b) ordering tailgate food/suppliers together, let me know!
  3. Yes - Russell Wilson is a sure pro bowler and is all lined up for Rookie of the Year and TJ was a bad pick - horrible - what a reach... We say based on a few preseason games in each of their rookie seasons. Give me a break. Let's have this discussion in one or two seasons when there's actually something to talk about. Right now, each is doomed with the P word - potential. I think both will be good, and yes we eventually need a QB. But I'd rather have Fitzgerald than a guy that just won the starting job in SEATTLE after a couple of meaningless quarters!! And that's correct - I believe the Jags even admitted they weren't ready for the pick. Why else pick a punter that high. Though he will be awesome (go Cal!)
  4. Hope something good happens for him. I don't know much about Hardy off the field other than the arrest before his rookie year, but Easley seems like a really good dude. The camp he ran for kids in Connecticut says a lot about him - two years, two IRs, never even made it to the regular season and he's still trying to do what he can for kids with the little NFL cred he has. It's gotta be tough - the guy went from UConn to the pros - that's got to be a huge leap. I don't know if he'll make the roster - odds seem stacked against him. But I'm pulling for him both on and off the field.
  5. Well - we just got our tickets!! For those of you planning on getting tickets and trying to figure out where you want to be in the stadium, we're in Lower Box Corner, Section 15. We have a dozen people going, though 2 are Niners fans and 2 are very confused Bears fans. But the section is close to the field and on the Bills' side, corner end zone. We're in Row I. If anyone wants to start coordinating for a massive Buffalo style tailgate, feel free to post here - it's never too early to start talking tailgate party!!
  6. So, so, SO psyched for this game. I live in Los Altos and have several friends coming in from out of town. I'll prob be getting synched up w the North Star crew but am open to other plans if others are thinking of something different. The only thing I know is that we will absolutely, positively be tailgating Buffalo style! Let's show Stevie some hometown love!!
  7. Where are Bills fans taillgating today? I mean those of you that aren't going to the paid / organized tailgate, what part of the lot? Hope to see you there - go Bills!!
  8. Well - I hope we are at Oakland, since I'm local! However, I also hope it's late enough in the season where Oakland's irrelevant and hopefully we're not. That's the only way I'd feel safe going to a game there!! At Denver would be a fun road-trip, though. I saw them play there in '95 (we lost 22-7) in the old Mile High, but the Genny Cream Ale before the game helped make it all okay...
  9. Assuming there's no lockout, the Bills would play the following teams next season. An * denotes the teams are locked into playing one another regardless of the next weeks' outcomes. KC* SD* OAK* DEN* PHI* NYG* WAS* DAL* CIN HOU NYJ* x 2 MIA* x 2 NE* x 2 I forget the part of the formula that dictates home vs. away, so if anyone knows that feel free to post it. The combined winning percentage of these opponents is 0.533.
  10. Even if we had the ability to trade for first rounders, I'd much rather trade down from our top 5 (soon top 10?!) pick into the lower first, and then again if possible to the high second. Stockpiling 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders would be ideal. As many have said, there are a lot of holes to fill and there's a lot of depth to develop. That assumes, of course, we're not trying to get Andrew Luck or some other "franchise" QB. But I'd rather spread our money around and play the odds that a few guys develop well than bank our success on one or two guys.
  11. But our pitching will never be that good! I was in SF for that and I dream of the day I can fly back home to Buffalo for such an amazing spectacle as a Lombardi trophy being carried into Niagra Square. But I doubt we'd get Journey's Steve Perry to be on the stage like the Giants... I'm a Wrotto-rooter. I hope he continues to develop but I honestly can't evaluate whether he can be an elite tackle or just a great interim step on the way to one. He's gotten a fair amount of help as many point out, but C.Biscuit's got it right - hats off to the coaches for putting him in a position where he can succeed.
  12. Though all bets are off until the CBA is signed, if we assume this part of the scheduling is kept and it's between us and the Dolphins, we also need to consider what happens with them this offseason. If they get Cowher or make some other attention-grabbing move that the country will care about, that would still be an 'interesting' matchup for the schedulerers to consider.
  13. I live 1 mile from Stanford and have a Bills license-plate holder. I'll make sure not to cut anyone off around here till after he declares, whenever that is. If anyone else has any ideas on how I can help, let me know!!
  14. I'm just scared that we have to endure another draft Well - at least whoever we pick will give us something to complain about for 2012/2013.
  15. Not sure if any of you are watching the Stanford / Oregon shootout, but Luck's had a great game. I love the fact that he made the TD-saving tackle on the fumble. The Stanford defense let Oregon back in and Oregon's leading, so I'm really interested to see Luck play from behind in a big game like this. Just got sacked. What is it with Stanford QBs? Okay - you had to expect that from a Cal guy. That said, I'm still hopeful that Luck's our man next year (if there's football...)
  16. Meant he'd been rambling. Who the heck cares what he thinks the media thinks he thinks.
  17. Actually, I'm pretty sure Raiders tix are available. The only problem is that the Black Hole has expanded to envelope the rest of the East Bay. And as everyone knows, what's the one property of black holes that's become emblamatic of both the Raiders and the Bills?
  18. Well... football is ceasing to be about parity anyways. How about them Sabres, though?! They are up 6-1 on Phoenix and by all accounts will continue to outscore the Bills on a per-game basis for the foreseeable future.
