I'm in the 'What-Was-Donte-Supposed-To-Do-Turn-Down-His-Draft-Position?' camp. We all aren't the best at what we do, but we hope that we try our hardest. Buffalo's a tough town, and one that should recognize and appreciate hard working folk. Donte works hard, gives a crap, and knows that the people of Buffalo deserve better than the product that they're getting on the field. He can't transform himself into Ed Reed circa 2008. I won't take my anger out on him, but respect that he does what he does and has some heart. I haven't seen much guts on or off the field save for Fitzy, McIntyre, and Nelson. (Although I'm sure that stoicism has its place, and that many Bills are choking down some anger.) I think that Donte gets crucified on this board more than others should. As an example of a high-caliber, high draft pick, I think that Lee Evans could be a little diplomatic and a little more passonate (and catch a ball or two yesterday against a rookie DB).

'Bad Teams' lose close games, 'Terrible Teams' get blown out by their opponents. 'Good Teams' win close games, 'Great Teams' blow out by their opponents. For the first two games the Bills were a 'Terrible Team.' Yesterday they were, perhaps, upgraded to 'Bad Team.' I suspect that they may alternate between 'Bad' and 'Terrible' all season long. More the latter than the former.

He was a bust, but I really dislike the vitriol on this board towards him for this exact reason. He came in and really embraced this town, and tried to do what was right off the field. He wasn't good on our field, fine. Be he's not the only one. As far as I'm concerned, eff all y'all. I would guess that he did far more for our town than most of those who post on this board.

The QB situation, IMO, could be this: Clausen at #9. If Clausen is not available, OL at #9 and Tebow at #41. If Tebow (or McCoy?) is not available, then DL at #41 and trade 3rd or (preferably) 4th for Jason Campbell. If the draft develops and no QB option emerges, you go with TE/RF/BB and aim for next year. Just a thought.

Folks: It's a thought experiment. It's not like he's saying we could've had all of them... but if you stack up all the misses, you've got yourself a damn great team. And while Joe_the_6_pack is right that other teams didn't take these players either, I think that we can't protest too much with the results: Most of those other teams have made the playoffs since 2002. I know it's fun to trash Sully here, but that article made me pretty sad. (Almost as much as papazoid's post did a few days ago! I would worry more about Jerry stealing good ideas for articles on this board rather than dissing his larger point here.)

I will say this though: When I opened up TBD this AM and I saw 'Cowher' and 'Buffalo' in the lead sentence, I had a flicker of hope that Ralph had done something spectacular... but then I remembered.

I think there's a wide gap between 'interviewing' and 'had the chance to interview.' I too would be interested in hearing about those who we passed up for Williams, Mularky, and Jauron.

I hate the same teams as everyone here (e.g., Pats, Fish, 'Boys), but I'm surprised at how little mention there is of the Titans. I really dislike Jeff Fisher, and I feel like I need a shower after rooting for them against the Jets. Hell, I even hate the city of Nashville and have built up a healthy contempt of Jeff Fisher's mustache.

Not for him, but for the team and for Buffalo. Showing a clip of the T.O. 'Show' makes the Bills more of a freakshow, than a team with some great role players who can fill in and get the job done (our two tackles, for example) and a few on the rise. A team like that gives Buffalo positive PR, and I don't think that could possibly be a bad thing. That said, no one on this board would keep Freddy instead of a trade for Adrian P., and I would rather not have other teams key up on Freddy (and soon the FJ/ML combo) the way they do on AP. Or wait: maybe they should key up on him/them... I'd rather have other teams stack the box and leave Lee or TO to pop open! So, yeah: Hey look everyone, our backs kick a**!

Nice thoughts, and I appreciate the comparison. While others are right about arm strength, I don't think that it undermines your point that we need a little patience with TE. While no one has a crystal ball around here, it's hard not to be anxious. Still, I'm pretty enthused by what I see. (Wouldn't it have been nice if we picked someone other than Todd Collins to groom under Kelly a la Aaron Rodgers?) I think that this board would have imploded if you tried to make that argument about JP, though!

Not that I see these two going down to be a good thing, but I have to say, TE one of the few positions I feel that we have good depth on. And I agree that our midfield/underneath receiving corps (Roscoe, Reed, Johnson) may fill in too.
