His cap hit for next year is 10 mil. His salary for next year is 10.45 Cap hit is different then salary I know that cap hit is different I am just not sure how his contract is divided and realized by the cap to come up with that $10M figure. I know the bonus is divided by the years of the contract. I think he is do $7M more in bonus money for future years plus the $3M he is do in a bonus for March that makes up the cap hit but I am not exactly sure.

Actually $7.45M is in base salary and has to be paid. $3M is a signing bonus. I am not sure how that equated to a $10M cap hit though.

If Nix is still GM he does not seem to like trading at all unless a fast WR who drops a lot of passes is available then all bets are off.

I agree that they both should be retained. The cap is going up so if someone throws a ton of money at them we may be in trouble. Fortunately for us safety and OG are not big money positions like LT and CB or QB so I think we will be able to sign them both.

LOL what I meant was we as fans see red meat like a lion and want to pounce. A real GM assesses value and what is the best need for the organization as a whole. I think his value is closer to $4M. I too agree that he is one of the good guys and regardless where he ends up I truly wish him well. I think he lives in Arizona so he would love that.

If Gailey had a good qb and a strong DC he would be successful. I would keep him only if he fires the stache and removed himself from playcalling. He has to either turn it over to Modkins or bring in someone else. He needs to replace Fitz with a new starter and get more involved with the Defence and special teams. If he is not willing to do all of these than he can resign(quit).

I don't think he is the strongest QB but he is above average.

I think if he is willing to take a big cut to about 4 million in real money we keep him. I don't think he would command more than that in the open market. I don't know the intricacies of cap and contract to restructure in a way that gives him a guaranteed smaller amount with incentives but if that is possible than that is the way to go. $4M plus incentives if he somehow (hopefully not) has to start.

That is very true. The cap hit is mostly the bonus spread out over the terms and duration of the contract. Does he have any value to the Bills as a prepaid mentor/backup?

After reading the article in Buffalo News we will spend $ 10M against the cap to cut him before March and $10.45M to keep him. We are only talking about $450k. As bad as he has played he could be retained and compete with whoever they bring in and at the least be a backup. The question I pose to all you closet GM's is do we keep him and get some value or cut him and throw $10M away against the cap? The article does not say if renegotiating the contract to reduce the cap hit is possible. Let's assume it is not an option and decide what is best for the Bills.

If Jacksonville gets the #1 pick we could trade with them. Give up a lot but get a franchise qb (Geno Smith). No way KC does that but if Jacksonville signs Tebow they could do a lot with our pics to rebuild.

After watching Gailey with "No comment" and Fitz with "not my style", I wonder why can't a player or coach say that was an awful call or call him out as classless. Will they get fined or something. I hate Pete Carroll. I hated him when he coached USC and now I think I hate him more. I wish someone would strongly speak out against him. Why can't we act like we got a pair.
