  1. I would agree with you if Lynch was unhurt. If Lynch is out 2 - 3 weeks he will miss the rest of preseason and have no opportunity to redeem anything. Spiller and the the rest will be prepped to carry the load Week 1. If Lynch is lucky he will get a serious chance to contribute Week 2 just before Jackson comes back in Week 3. Just my guess.
  2. Trent was out of excuses 2 years ago. Unfortunately he is not out of chances yet.
  3. Nearly as good as Terrance Cody.
  4. I agree with the last few posters completely. I could end up pleasantly surprised but Trent keeps showing us the same thing over and over and over again. The lovers keep trying to blame everything else in the world BUT Trent. The team has issues yes indeed but people need to wake up and realize Trent IS ONE OF THOSE ISSUES not just a poor victim of them. I would rather watch an unknown with potential to see what they have than to watch a guy with a proven 3+ year record of suck. I found it quite interesting that Trent was spared any negative criticism in Gailey's half time interview. It was obvious to see that Trent didn't play well and I would have expected some honesty from the coach. Perhaps he was just trying to show support in his starter in spite of the fact that his starter sucked.
  5. I would rather see anyone try to step up than watch the worlds best con man start another game. I don't know how Trent does it but he apparently plays well enough in practice, talks a good game, test well enough to fool coaches and GMs into thinking he is starting QB in this league. We are going on year 4 of seeing exactly the same thing. The bullets start flying and Edwards starts sucking. The first contact Edwards took he went into his shell and he started playing scared, throwing ill advised erratic passes behind WRs and missing wide open guys on deep routes for almost a sure TD. You only get a very small handful of those opportunities in a game and like Jim Kelly said you have to be able to take advantage of some of them.
  6. Missed bomb. Typical Trent.
  7. I think it just started off worse.
  8. I agree for the most part. At least Fitz got his **** together and did something. Trent had the suck pedal mashed through the floorboards after the first drive.
  9. What good is a fast release when it takes the QB 10 seconds to decide to throw the ball?
  10. Looks like the same old same old. Very little to take a way positive from last night. Trent looked....well like Trent. HE at least did uncork one that was so far off target it was pathetic. So much for accuracy and intelligence being Trent's strengths. That being said Steve Tasker said one really good thing when he wasn't blaming the Bills poor performance on anything but Trent. He said that coach Gailey says that Levi Brown looks every bit the NFL QB from a physical stand point. He's got the size, the mobility and the ARM STRENGTH. I can't remember the exact verbiage but the way he spoke it's a big gap between him and the rest on these categories.
  11. You mean the preseason games don't count towards your record? This is exactly the type of person that I referenced in my opening post. People said all last year through game 1, then game 2, then game 3 etc. "It's only preseason. It doesn't matter that the first string offense hasn't scored a TD." Well, as mentioned before, that futility carried right over into the regular season so please spare me the week 1 is more important. Next people will be paraphrasing Allen Iverson. "Preseason? We're talking about preseason?" .....Yes we are ...only as it provides insight into how we may look in the regular season. This is not the early 90's Bills when we knew we had the best team in football and preseason was about not getting hurt and evaluating unknown talent. This team has something to prove. Gailey has been quoted as saying he wants to win. He also is playing the starters longer to see what they have got. Apparently he thinks preseason is a valuable tool for evaluating and predicting regular season performance. Again. Just an opportunity to run my mouth. You may have just been being glib and regurgitating that same old tired phrase we hear every year.
  12. Nah I didn't. I was just making light of it and running my mouth.
  13. I'm not saying you did. I was merely using it an an opportunity to point out the fact that his spiral does indeed suck. Check my sig. I'm with you about next years draft. From what little I know about college ball there appear to be a bunch of big arm QBs in next years draft. Some with size. Some with mobility. I heard the hype about Locker and was intrigued by the guy having the big arm and the athleticism. He also stayed for his senior year and was running a pro offense and wants to improve how he reads defenses and become an even better pro candidate. Troup should end up being good. I'm not pissed about the pick but I think Cody would have been a better choice. The Ravens have shown a thing or 10 about making good defensive draft picks including taking Ngata after we passed on him to take Whitner.
  14. Well Mr. Donte fan we shall see if Trent tanks it again or not. I'm sure your previous posts will support your undying faith in Donte. So far it actually looks like Donte may be showing a glimmer of the potential he was drafted for so I think we should hold on to him to see what happens. We have pleny of other resources in the secondary that will be riding pine this year that could be traded for another QB that could actually challenge the default starter your son Trent. I'm not sure why your head is so thick but as I have stated all along Troy Smith could "challenge" your son as the starter. If you think he would be a slam dunk winner that's on you BetaPuppy.
  15. A rookie playing in his first NFL action bobbled an exchange with the center? HE'S A BUST!!!! Last I recall the QB center exchange involved 2 players.
  16. Man I hope you guys are right. It's not the end of the world if they don't but Gailey has said the starters will play a little longer than might be expected for the first preseason game. Equally as important as scoring a TD, I want to see sustained professional drives. 1 or 2 plays with a missed assignment, a short field type TD is still a TD but I want to see these guys look competent. This will sound silly but I think if the first team does score it will be Spiller or Evans. That is obviously not a stretch to think either of the two fastest guys on the team might score. It looks like Evans is going to be used like a #1 this year as Gailey has the guy running various routes including crossing routes. Spiller is just a TD waiting to happen. If he gets a hole to run through and a LB isn't correct with his technique Spiller COULD make them pay. I'm not going to let my self get caught up in the optimism. I say it every year but still I do. I am prepared for the worst but hope for the best. PS Even though I think Trent is a career back up at best I hope that Orakpo doesn't rush past Meredith and literally kill the kid.
  17. *shiver* That is one ugly baby.
  18. LOL. Have you seen Trent,s deep ball? Lame ducks laugh at it. It looks drunk flying through the air. Just take a look at highlights on buffalobills.com if you don't believe me.
  19. It's one preseason game so lets not go crazy. The guy did look pretty confident though and I liked that he had the balls to throw deep over the middle. I didn't know his arm was quite that strong. Certainly better than Edwards, Fitz and possibly Brohm. He could develop into something. On another note Terrence Cody the DT I thought we would get in the second looked pretty good. Torrell Troup BETTER kick some ass or we will have passed on two guys that I would have beet ecstatic to get in the second round.
  20. Well tonight is the first look we will get at the Bills in live action this year. The question in my mind, as it was last year, is "will the Bills first team offense score a TD in the preseason?" Some love to point out that preseason "counts for nothing", "It's meaningless", "We run a base offense", etc. Well looking in the rear view mirror the inability of our first string offense to score in preseason DIRECTLY translated to the regular season last year. Another question I have in my mind is "Will Gailey pull the plug on the 4th year of the Trent Edwards failed experiment if the offense pulls up lame out of the gate?" I have been one of the BIGGEST Trent bashers but in reality I want the team to do well and for that to happen TRENT has to do well. Last thing I want to see though is another year of futility with rubber arm ballless Cpt Checkdown playing not to lose. I SO hope I am wrong.
  21. Although I absolutely agree with you, the Redskins have 3 things going for them that we don't. Perhaps I should say two things and one not as bad. The Redskins have a proven multi probowl QB in McNabb. The Bills? (Not so much) Although disgruntled the Redskins have a defensive star in Haynesworth how has single handedly changed games. The Bills? (Honorable mention for a rookie Jarius Byrd). The Redskins organization although perhaps not deserving have a MORE, not well, respected organization which includes super bowl winning coach Mike Shannahan who snubbed. The Bills? (A proven history of failure and letting probowl talent leave the organization.) Like it or not the only thing that will change public opinion is winning. "Show me the baby."
  22. Normally I am not against speculation in fact it's quite fun. That being said we have no idea how good or bad we will be this year. Things we do know. O-line SUCKS until it PROVES otherwise -No proven stars on the line just a collection of projects, 2nd year guys and a career blue collar center -2 starters healthy for the first preseason game. -2 starters, 2nd year guy and undrafted project, are coming back from horrific season ending injuries No Proven Star at QB -No one has proven they can be a good starter for any length of time. Any QB can have a good game or 3 -No one that can win a game for you just guys that at best can manage them and not lose them No #2, #3 ,#4 WR -Lee Evans is the only proven good WR on this team -3rd year 7th round pick Steve Johnson looks to be our #2 -2 candidates that were competing with Steve Johnson hurt. Hardy injury nightmare. Easley rookie. Until those VERY BASIC issues are addressed on offense how can we argue with ANYONE about what the Bills record will be? We could EASILY end up 2 - 14. We could also improve to 9 - 6. WAY too many wild cards involved. AND THAT IS JUST THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL!!!
  23. Mr WEO misunderstands a lot of points apparently and then it's the poster fault for that misunderstanding not his inability to get it.
  24. I still think you have trouble understanding but eh. Let's continue the analogy a little further. If I offer Bills Gates an order of magnitude more money than 120 million say....1 billion...is that enough compensation to buy Microsoft? See? It's still not enough. To be honest as another poster mentioned I don't know that you can EVER spend a crap load of money on a corner even one as incredibly gifted and hard working as Reevis. It means you lose elsewhere. A penny pincher, at least in my estimation, is not just someone who is unwilling to spend a lot of money but a person who is always trying to pay less than something is worth and getting the best of the guy in a deal. For all you and I know they could be quibbling over 30 vs 30.5 million guaranteed. If you're willing to go that far and pay that much 500K isn't worth squabbling about. I have no idea about those example numbers but why drag this out. This isn't some run of the mill guy. This is a GREAT GREAT guy. Any how, lighten up dude. "Penny pincher" is a common colloquialism. Don't get all Matlock on me. Drink some prune juice and loosen up.
  25. Apparently you have a problem making associations. I would imagine to most it was self explanatory but I will elaborate. Claiming that 120 million over 10 years is sufficient for Reevis' contract is ignorant of his actual worth and the value of NFL players who have hit the genetic lottery and are quite literally often 1 in a million who are able to accomplish the feats they do on the field. I made the Bill Gates reference as an illustration of the absurd concept of claiming that a number just because it is high for people like you and I is sufficient compensation for what is being obtained for that amount of money. Simply put, 120 million over 10 years may be a big number but it may not be sufficient compensation. Get it? It doesn't ignore anything I posted earlier. It was just a response to your comments about a number being enough without knowing any of the other details of the contract proposals and the fact that the number may not be enough. Hope this helps.
