Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz
PDaDdy replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly thought that it was more Ralph and Modrak that was responsible for crowning Trent the king and doing everything in their power to give him the job. We could have brought in SOOO many free agents that were better. Oddly enough the one free agent we did bring in that we thought was a career backup and wasn't up to the task of beating Trent out for the job is now the #2 ranked QB in the entire NFL. Four games is not a season or a career but Fitz is more than a one hit wonder at this point. There is no reason he can't continue to play at a respectable, functional high level if not continue the tear he is on. Fitz is playing so well in fact that some have dared to say that QB is no longer our primary need in the 2011 draft. It will take the rest of the season at least to be able to truly seriously answer that question but so far so good. -
One good game? Where have you been the last 5 weeks? All Fitz has done in the past 4 games is be the best QB in the league second only to Peyton Manning. You don't get there from one good game man. Give credit where it is due. Not picking on you but this is why some of our fans suck. We have been given a tremendous gift horse in Fitzpatrick's performance and all half of us can do is look that gift horse in the mouth and try to find something wrong with it. Fitz is not just playing OK....HE IS KICKING ASS!!!! End of story. Will he keep it up? I hope so! Will he have occassional bad games like any other QB in this league that is given 10x the respect? Sure. Will loser Bills fans jump all over it and take a dump on the guy and say "see, this is the real Ryan Fitzpatrick"? Absolutely. It's crap like that that makes me believe we get what we deserve always being dissappointed. We should be carrying this guy on our shoulders and trying to encourage continued performance like this instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Prediction: Fitzpatrick Looks Bad Against Baltimore

AAAAARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! -
Who are our back ups at RT and LT?
PDaDdy replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Forget who are backups are. Who are our starters? When will the front office pay money to someone who is actually good at their position not just a "team guy"? -
Amen!

How do we give credit to a coach and GM that wanted to see first hand a QB that the entire nation and most of the fan base thought didn't have what it takes? Sometimes the obvious answer is actually the right one!!! Edwards stunk and all but an incredibly small fan base thought otherwise. The overwhelmingly large majority knew the kid wasn't a gamer but some how our coaches couldn't figure that out looking back at the past 3 years of his career? That scares me!!! Busy GM? The guy goes to bed early when free agency starts. All he has done is cut a couple players, over pay another and trade away our bull dozing probowl RB. How much of his time is that really taking? Seriously.

The problem is trying to figure out whose fault it is in the front office. Everything this guy said was dead on. So many poor choices. As I have mentioned elsewhere we are tearing down the team mid season instead of in the off season before the draft. That is dumb. If we did it the right way got rid of everyone they needed to and then started rebuilding in the draft and free agency it would have been smarter and easier to swallow. Instead we have to endure a year long dismantling of the Bills only to begin that rebuilding process NEXT YEAR! What killed me the most about this article is how little contribution we are getting from rookies on what is such a BAD team. There should be plenty of opportunity for rookies or mid level free agents to come in and get on the field right away. The only guys I can think of are an undrafted WR in David Nelson that occasionally gets in the game and Spiller who has made something of an impact and will likely get more opportunity now that Lynch is gone.

Keep it going Nix....Im with ya!
PDaDdy replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually they didn't do the exact same thing. What the Patriots did was take a FREE AGENT and got rid of him for more draft picks likely with the plan of bringing in another FREE AGENT to take his place. Some have speculated that this might be Vincent Jackson. What the Bills did was take a 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICK PLAYER who was playing a rookie contract and got rid of him for draft picks. The problem is they won't use any of that money or draft picks they saved to bring in a FREE AGENT to help this team. What they will do is select more bust players that will never really contribute and cut them in about 3 - 4 years. -
Did anybody else hear that guy on WGR yesterday?
PDaDdy replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just out of curiosity how does their TD production compare based on number of carries? Personally I like the kind of production that puts points on the board. Teams don't compare yardage and yards per carry for win and loss record. -
Jay Glazier's comments about Buffalo...
PDaDdy replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, who said we have to get rid of him. It seems like the situation you just described is that we have 1000yd rushing RB that can get short yardage and he is more valuable than what he would attract in compensation. That, my friend, is the classic buyers market don't sell scenario. You keep that talent like the Cowboys with their 3 headed monster. If someone offers you fair compensation then you think about it. -

PDaDdy replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait, who said we had to trade him for anything? If I have sports car that I could get rid of but nobody is offering me what it's worth I don't sell it. We potentially gave Seattle the answer to their prayers and running game problem and got in return a 4th round pick with a 6th thrown in for good measure? Look at what we have drafted with those picks!!! Not other teams, US!. Don't give me 1 in a million success stories like Tom Brady, drafted by another team by the way. Look at our 4th round and 6th round picks over the last 15 years or so. Does it seem like such a good idea now? -
Something to add to this. I'm sure as many we have all been to a few games over the years. This past Sunday was the first time I sat in the 1st row behind the Buffalo bench. I have to say I have loved the Bills over the years and I am a fan but some of our fans are idiots. You should have heard some of the **** coming out of these guys mouths. If I'm a young 24 year old athlete on the other side of the country from my home in a foreign city and I have to hear jackasses bath mouthing me and my team knowing nothing about me as a person other than what you read in the papers or see on ESPN I would find it really hard to embrace that city. We want to pretend that these guys are greeted with open arms and are embraced by the fans. This is simply not the case. All it takes if a few out spoken a-holes to turn someone sour to a whole fan base, city or culture. You should have heard the crap they were talking about Spiller!! A good kid who got great grades and seems to be an all around decent guy. Talking about he should have never been drafted, he sucks, Gailey and nix suck for drafting him....blah blah blah blah. Way to make the players feel welcome. People wonder why we can't get free agents? Julius Peppers got a better offer from us but said no way to Buffalo? People never accept blame but it has to make you wonder how much of it is the fans fault as well? News Flash...Jackson is 30. What do you think he is going to contribute 3 years from now? I would be somewhat surprised if he is still playing. Either way he won't be a featured back. If he is still on our team he will be a change of pace shifty back that is slower, older and less shifty than Spiller? At 31, 32, 33 I don't think he is going to fill the short yardage roll that Marshawn could.

This has gotten bad. This team has been poorly run with no NFL level talent evaluator for years. The scary thought that just crossed my mind is....IS THIS JUST THE BEGINNING? Lynch was one of the few good players on this team and letting him go for a 4th rounder was just dumb. Even if we did get the 3rd what would we do with it? Screw it up as usual because we don't have anyone that could judge talent if it fell to them in the draft (Orakpo). How are we getting rid of so many people? If they were bad enough to release why didn't we figure that out before the draft and free agency ended? Trent Edwards Kawika Mitchell Marshawn Lynch Who's next? Are we saving money? If we are it's to over pay below average talent instead of retaining or acquiring probowlers. Are we getting rid of everything to stock pile picks? If we are we will only squander them in the draft. Didn't the front office know that LT/RT, LB, QB and DE were our biggest needs before the draft? They did absolutely jack squat to address those needs!!! They did nothing in the draft and did almost nothing in free agency other than grabbing a cast off LB who has been in the 3 - 4 before. If it weren't for idiotic moves like giving Kelsay a boat load of money I would say they are just getting rid of anyone making money or who would need to be resigned for money so that the next owner can put their stamp on things and start over. If you exclude the Kelsay signing it looks like a fire sale. Is this even a rebuilding year or a year to tear it all down and sell the team so that the next owner can START the rebuilding process next year? If so, why put a GM and coach in place if you are selling the team at the end of this season? I'm confused!!! Can they really be that dumb? There has to be some agenda that we are not seeing clearly that explains the idiocy we have seen. Is Ralph a senile old ruler who has lost it but rules with an iron first? Is it Modrak who is playing senator Palpatine and is secretly running the organization into the ground by being completely incompetent at pro player talent evaluation? All the while Ralph drools on himself talking to Al Davis on the phone about the good old days of the AFL? What freakin' gives?
-
Ralph Wilson won't pay anyone good. He overpays for average to below average talent. Jason Peters isn't worth $10.5 million a year but Chris Kelsay is worth $6 million a year? WHAT A COMPLETE AND TOTAL JOKE!!!! Time for someone who knows how to put together an NFL team by paying to keep your star talent around and filling in your roll players with young guys and solid veterans making lunch pail wages.
-
Lee Evans in particular is signed for probably another 4 or 5 years and could be more productive with a team around him and a QB that can get him the ball. McGee will be gone because we have to rotate our DBs every 4 years or so...lol. Stroud will likely be gone and Kelsay will remain to be high paid, below average roll player.

I hate to ruin your draft plans
PDaDdy replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was claimed by some that he was the better pick than Bradford. All it takes is one team to draft the guy in the first round to make him a first round pick. Look at Tebow. He was a first round pick although MANY MANY teams didn't have a first round grade on him. To call it fictions is wrong. He is not making it up. It's true. -
CJ Spiller AFC ST Player-of-the-Week
PDaDdy replied to cåblelady's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Especially since our offense and defense apparently can't get their schedules together and show up on the same day to play. -
Chris Kelsay? $6 Million a year? Seriously? This is Buffalo's problem in a nut shell. We overpay for mediocre talent. What is the going rate for your average run of the mill DE turned outside LB? I doubt anyone outside of Buffalo has actually ever heard of him. I could be completely out of touch with salaries but that sounds like a lot of cash for a national no name. This WREAKS of Ralph Wilson! He won't pay probowlers and great talent market value for their services but he overpays for average at best players like Kelsay? What a joke! News flash Ralph, super bowl and play off teams have elite high paid talent and a bunch of moderately paid average roll players. I don't recall seeing a successful team model based on overpaid, average role players devoid of elite talent!!!!

As we all know the best RB in the world can't run through a brick wall. This is what our guys look like, Lynch in particular, when there are holes and the QB has some the ability to read a defense presnap and change the play. I think there is a direct correlation between both how well the line played and the change to Fitzpatrick as it relates to success of the running game. Sunday we had a QB that could challenge the defense beyond 7 yards, made quick decisions and had some pocket presence. Lynch and the other RBs would have benefited from any QB not named Trent. In my opinion although it's a small sample size for this year last Sunday was more indicative of how we should expect the talent on this team to perform.
-
Ya 6.1 yards per carry breaking tackles all the way sucks! You're a moron. Which hole would you be talking about? I haven't seen any until last Sunday and he ran through them quite well to the tune of 6.1 yards per carry. Would you disagree with those numbers being representative of a good running day?
-
Stay tuned I see there are still a few Trent apologists that are kicking around. Fitz looked 10 times the QB Edwards did. The teams you mentioned coming up are tough indeed. Unless you're expecting miracles Fitz will just play with more, balls, savvy, intensity ability to read an NFL defense than Edwards. Doesn't mean he will look like a super star against those teams. He just won't look like a deer in the headlights.
