Anybody welcome the team back from the airport?
RyanC883 replied to Westside's topic in The Stadium Wall
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/bills-chiefs-collapse-playoff-loss/1f6g9dv6ilm1m1kk4306nz58jf Great article about Defense. Well, not great, but good analysis. -
that's funny, no one is giving up on the team, but come on, are the celebrating a season that ended in a terrible fashion, with terrible defensive play that stretches back to last year, with yet again moronic coaching decisions and a GM that failed to upgrade the roster? not giving up, but really pissed. But this is what you get when you change nothing.

not just that 13 seconds. Recall we were up with 1:11 left before getting gashed. The D was awful. I'm mad at them also. So much promise, and coaching and failure to upgrade certain positions led to this result. if Frazier is back next year that's a sign that McD and Bean are okay with just being okay. -

oh I believe it could be worse, but that does not mean you celebrate this. Winning teams deserve to be celebrated. This season was nothing to celebrate. We were not some underdog that was expected to go 8-8 who eeeked out getting to the Divisional Round. We were picked to make the SB after last year and failed to improve. Nothing to celebrate there. well, the offensive players or JA and Davis perhaps. The defensive players should have taken the bus with Frazier and McD. -
haha. opened up Davis. Where the heck was that all year. Oh, Daboll. But to the other guys point, #1 WR's get open against triple coverage. Hill did it, D. Adams routinely does it. Diggs was MIA, but could be Daboll, could be Allen was like, "Gabe is open or singled and going there," which is smart. Get a real OC in here.

thanked them for what, exactly. Another playoff appearance? That should be the expectation, they failed miserably in the final 3 minutes and OT. If you could cheer the offense or JA in particular, fine. But the defense should have been sent back on a bus. -
The OT format is a joke. It's like if MLB just let the first team up to bat win if they score more than 1 run. Total joke. Follow the college format.

It’s time to trade for an Edge Rusher

what do you like about Basham. He did nothing this year, and was picked instead of players like Creed Humphry (all pro OL). Forgot about Epenesea also, horrid pick. 1. we can afford it. 2. we said the same thing about AJ last year. Let's see what he does. Did nothing. Hope is not a strategy for winning. -

that's why we need to trade/get on in FA. -

I hope he stops just drafting random guys like Basham. I'm fine with Groot, he has elite talent but he is a tall dude and pass rushers have a lot of room to block him. get them BOTH. -

1. Yes. 2. Don't let him try to draft one. That failed in amazing fashion. 3. Why didn't he trade for Von Miller? That would have made a huge difference last night. But Bean stood pat, and should have to answer for it. Some good FAs out there (Chandler Jones) that would improve this unit. Draft a 1T, and this DL could be almost very good if Rousseau improves. -
Like a lot of what you said, but the coaching staff was abysmal last night. The defense was horrific, and Daboll was as terrible, not unleashing Allen until the 3rd quarter against an average secondary, instead running it (with Allen most of the time) into a good front 7. I hope you are right about McD (and Bean) being on the hot seat, otherwise this is going to turn into the Marino Dolphins really fast. Elite QB that never wins anything. This team did not improve year over year. We should have had the 1 seed as you point out, (lost to Jax, really?), were unprepared and undermanned at critical times in critical situations.
-
what I said is true. They are both great, but didn't show in a big game. Not elite.

posts like this are puzzling. We accomplished nothing this year as a team. The D had holes last year, this year (but was #1 due to a soft schedule), and the "curse of the Pats**) was due to Brady, nothing else. We were worse this year, and it's maddening. I'm sure the Dolphins fans felt great when going to the SB with Marino as a rookie, Marino never went again and has no rings. This team was a major disappointment. Allen improved, who else did? Where were the impact players that were brought in? Edmunds continued to suck and start. We drafted poorly. Other contending teams still playing (LA, KC, etc. brought in impact players--not us) McD with headscratching in game decisions and a conservative defense. If we are the 1 seed perhaps we win, (MCD is now 0-4 on the road in playoffs). So, thanks Allen, you were fun to watch, everyone else, you failed us. what magic are you talking about wrt Bean? What did he do last offseason or this season that gives you any confidence he knows how to make a great team elite? Sure, he took a bad team and made it great (really, drafting Allen), otherwise, we got worse this offseason.
-
good point. Frazier needed to mix it up and send Poyer and/or Hyde on some plays.
-
Yeah, Oliver in the backfield and no one else. Still not an impact player (consistently disruptive, others game plan around), but went from average to good.
-
Bingo. And while coaching played a large part of it, Bean failed to improve the roster over last season. Other teams improved. It's a recipe for going nowhere. He drafted poorly, and brought in zero FAs during the offseason or trade deadline that made an impact. It's 100% on the coaches, but 100% on Bean also. If we had an impact player in the front 7 that doesn't happen, despite our poor coaching. We have no one to cover up the D's poor coaching and it showed.

Well, if he retires, I'm so glad we drafted All-Pro Creed Humphry last year instead of invisible Boogie Basham...oh, wait.
