  1. This is one of those threads that shows you for sure that the start of a new season is approaching ... rampant optimism abounds
  2. This is correct for the game worn jerseys by the players. As as you noted they are not made by reebok. But the ones sold by reebok, which are the stitched ones we fans buy from the stadiums or from nfl.com, where are they made?
  3. Poz is an average NFL player. The way the Bills are now, an average NFL player is one of your stars. You don't overpay or sign a long duration deal, but you resign him if possible. And to the people who are saying he can get us to 8-8 but not beyond, 8-8 looks pretty good after last year. Sign him to a short deal and after you hit 8-8 look for an upgrade,
  4. I was unaware that Hitler facilitated trademark infringement.
  5. On ask.com one past said that, and others said various Asian countries. I could not find anything definitive in a short google search. Do you have a link that proves this statement? Also your statement says the ones that the players wear. Does that also include the authentic jerseys for sale to fans?
  6. He probably does realize it. But look at it this way, if someone offered to give you a couple million bucks for nothing, would you turn them down?
  7. Only a week? What's the big deal. The teams know who they want and what they are prepared to pay. The players and their agents already know what they are looking for and what teams are likely interested. So for this week instead of the players going golfing and getting around to answering their phones when they feel like it, they stay available to take the phone calls and make a decision. How hard is that? Look at the first FA day for the NHL not long ago, tons of deals done on the first day even, and many more the few days after that. Simple.
  8. OK James so your entire problem with the counterfeit jerseys is due to trademark infringement. I don't think anyone here has stated or believes it is not trademark infringement. Particularly since the counterfeits I have seen are complete down to the smallest detail, including the holographic "seal of authenticity". Basically it boils down to this. My 3 kids each want one, I do not. So I can spend $600 for authentic from the Bills store, $240 for crappy painted on replica, or $60 for counterfeit authentic. Which may change or players leave at any time. I choose the $60. If that make me a scofflaw or a bad person in your eyes I am OK with that. But I refuse to be ripped off by the NFL (in this way at least). C'est la Vie.
  9. The article says "of any home market". I'm not sure what the definition of the Bills home market is, but I think it is just Buffalo. I remember when I asked the Rochester TV station if a game would be broadcast they said they could not because Rochester was not considered the home market.
  10. What I find more interesting than the rankings are the percentages. According to this, only 64% of adults in Buffalo watched even 1 game last season (where adult fans said they had watched a game on TV, listened to a game on the radio or attended at least one game during the past year). In a small market like Buffalo I would have expected that number to be higher, even with the decade+ of suck in progress. The Jags with their hideous attendance numbers got 56% for Petes sake.
  11. Let me see if I understand you. Nike/Reebok pays a factory in China for jerseys for I'm guessing about $10 each. They then mark it up quite a bit, adding no value mind you, just turning it around and selling them to the NFL. The NFL also marks it up quite a bit, also adding no value except the ability to buy it in a local store, then sells them to the public. So my giving China an extra $10 of my money directly, not giving 2 American companies $190 for doing next to nothing, and not paying the taxes on the "donations" that I make to the 2 American companies that do next to nothing is killing social security? Is that what you think? Do you also condemn Nike/Reebok and the NFL for having the jerseys made in China? Seems like they are doing what I am doing, namely getting jerseys of the desired quality for the lowest price possible. If it is OK for them, why is it not OK for me?
  12. TBD is not facilitating anything. This is just an open discussion about why people purchase legit jerseys from the NFL outlets or the knock-offs from other outlets and discussions of relative quality of some of the knock-offs. You are correct in that these jerseys are illegal, all knock-offs are by definition. But I contend that no "friendly working relationship" is in jeopardy from simple forum discussions. Now if TBD created a forum dedicated to people buying and selling knock-offs from each other that would be another matter altogether. I also contend that the NFL is losing little money due to knock-offs, certainly nowhere near tens of millions of dollars a year. Everyone that I know who purchase knock-off jerseys do so because they feel the NFL charges far too much money for theirs, and they would not buy one from the NFL under any circumstances. If they could not get a decent knock-off they would simply not get one at all. So the NFL is not making money from them, but they are not losing money either.
  13. You were on track with the bolded part, then went off in the weeds. Companies (NFL in this case) marking things up several thousand percent out of pure unadulterated greed is one of the reasons many US companies cannot compete in a global economy.
  14. That's a bold statement about a 224 overall pick entering his 2nd real season. Anyway. my 4 ... 1) Spiller. I pray to my personal God that Gailey gets the ball into this kids hands somehow. And I just don't see him being effective taking handoffs. Maybe short routes that get him into the open field is the trick. 2) Johnson. Will be interesting to see if he can have as good a season as the last one. One thing is for certain, Fitz likes him and will try to get him the ball. 3) Roscoe. I can't help it, I like him and I think Gailey does too. 4) Evans. Hopefully he can contribute something.
  15. Or get one from China, pay $20 and have it look [nearly] perfect and if it changes next season who freaking cares, spend another $20.
  16. VCR eh .... showing your age there my friend
  17. The madness ends. http://www.wben.com/Sabres-Out-of-Richards-Sweepstakes/10258127
  18. I'm not sure either, but this site seems pretty up to date. They had Leino on there in less than 15 minutes of being signed. http://www.thehockeygm.com/buf.html
  19. After Leino there is only 1.35 mil left to the cap and they only have 1 goalie and 5 signed defenseman. Madness is right and I love it too
  20. Kings are gunna get him. I don't think all the contract cap-hit games in the world would get Richards in Buffalo and have any hope of staying under the cap
  21. Drury has a bum knee. That's the reason the Rangers bought out his contract. He is done. Now that is a prediction I can get behind!
  22. You are making a common mistake. To you football is a passion. To the NFL and the players it is a business first and foremost. All you need do is look at the obscene amounts of cash involved and the current lockout swordfight between players and owners to see that. Of course Mr. Wilson would sell competitive advantage for cash. It is not gross, it is good profit maximizing business decision. And in his defense, I am pretty confident that Mr. Wilson thought the atmosphere in Toronto would be a strong Bills backing crowd when he first brokered the deal so he wouldn't be giving up as much of the homefield advantage as he did.
