Pats fans not buying SB tickets
CodeMonkey replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Burned out by success huh. I wonder what that is like. -
Dude that's a lot of if's. You forgot one, clicking their heels twice and saying "there's no place like the playoffs"

Hey don't confuse the issue with facts. Pats fans are not REAL fans because they won't pay $15000 to go to Indy to watch the game, got it! -

You used the two Bills buzz words ... "if" and "pray". -

$1000 for the ticket (assuming you can get them at face), air fare, hotel (not cheap during the SB I'm sure) for some number of days plus normal expenses like food (and beer ). Times two if you are bringing a wife/date/kid. I'm sure some would do it. Just wonder how many could afford it. -

Makes me wonder how many average Joe season ticket holders actually go to the Superbowl as opposed to wealthy fair weather fans there mainly for the party. -

This. Plus I imagine the majority of Pats fans will see the game. They will just see it like you and I will, on a TV at home or at a party with friends and save themselves the $10K. Besides $2500 per ticket minimum to see a !@#$ing football game? Come on man that is crazy. But a fool and his money are soon parted. And I guess in this case it is the Giants fans who are the bigger fools -

Giants fans are more psychotic than Pats fans. Plus $2500 might not be a lot of money to someone living in NYC because the of cost of living (and subsequently the salaries) there. -

Mainly the economy I think. Between tickets, hotel etc. its a lot of money to spend just to party and see a football game live. -
There are some here that think that not only does this team have NFL caliber players, but players so good all the Bills need is some depth acquisitions to be one of the better teams in the league. Not me mind you, but there are some.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if he was. But don't look for any big names, look for him to get some depth that way.
-
Maybe, if he is given enough time. He is not capable of coaching the team up that much. He needs considerably more talent. Not next season without divine intervention.

Given the personnel he had in Dallas a lot of people consider 18-14 underachieving. The 0-2 in the playoffs was underachieving and Gailey blamed himself directly for at least one of those losses. Also that was in another era as far as the NFL is concerned, a long time ago. So say you combine the two if you want to be comprehensive. 28-36 with 2 out of 4 playoff appearances, both appearances were a 1st game loss, and the last 2 years his team was out of the playoffs by December. Not exactly the stuff championships are made of. I still maintain he is the best the Bills could hire at the time, and this past season gives me some hope the team is heading in the right direction. But there is probably a reason it was so long between head coaching jobs for him.

Wow can you imagine him as a Bills fan the last 12 years. He would be dead from high blood pressure related illness before now. I wonder what he was like after the Evans strip.
-
Not really sure about a sign of progress based on how they ended the season. However that and the strong start to the season are the things they could use to build some optimism going into camp for next season. Hopefully paired with some strong FA signings and a promising draft. Hope springs eternal for the Buffalo Bills

I do envy the contract he has in place while he is rehabbing though.

The bad salsa dance is not using a prop and therefore not against the current rules is the difference. Personally I'd like to see all the celebrations end. Is it really necessary to dance around every time they make a tackle, catch, or first down? And act like a clown at the gay pride parade when they score a TD? It looks more like WWE than a sport to me when that happens. If they REALLY feel the need to do this, at least take it behind your bench so the game can continue while you are putting on your dance recital.

Lee Evans taking the blame for the loss

The difference is SJ drops the big ones without a defender stripping it out. That being said, it is one he should have been able to hold on to in my opinion. -
The big differences I see are: 1) SJ is taller. 2) VC catches the big ones. 3) VC has a QB that can throw accurately, particularly deep. 4) VC does not feel the need to take stupid "look at me" penalties. They do both manage to get open and seem to be the go to guys for their respective QBs.

I agree that 12 years is far too long to suck so bad. But if they do not make the playoffs next season you want to do what, fire Gailey and Nix and start over again? I just don't see how that helps unless they can get considerably better replacements. If the team continues to show improvement, playoffs or no playoffs, I would say to stay the course. If they regress however and have another poor draft and season, then all options are open. -

Nothing to deal with. The first third of the season they played well, got a incredible amount of great breaks and won a impressive amount of games. The rest of the season, not so much. Combination of injuries and the rest of the league figuring out you shut down the short game and you shut down the Bills led to the last 2/3 of the season being a disaster. My belief is they are heading in the right direction, but are not anywhere near one of the better teams in the league at this point. They need a lot of top notch starters AND depth before they can be considered a threat in the NFL. The Bills did not submerge into irrelevancy in a couple of seasons and they will not climb out of it quickly either. Just depth away from being one of the better teams in the league, I wish you were right but cmon man -

So this 4-12 then 6-10 team just needs to add some depth and resign their FAs to be one of the better teams in the league? This past seasons starters are among the best in the league then. You really believe last seasons start was the real Bills huh. Off season optimism is a beautiful thing, but holy crap you are a true Billiever -
I watched the movie moneyball yesterday and that was the theme of the movie (and the people the movie was about).

Or what, blow it up again and have the cycle continue? What happens in your mind if they MUST make the playoffs, but do not? -
That actually sounds more like Nix.
