  1. I, just as alot of diehard Bills fans, am elated over the 2-0 start. Just the same, I'm totally jacked about the Patriots game this Sunday and possibly ending "the streak". However, lets take a stroll down memory lane and some of the great starts that Buffalo has had since they last made the playoffs back in the '99-'00 season. 2003: The last time the Bills beat the New England Patriots was opening day, 2003...EIGHT years ago! We didn't just beat them, we embarrassed them! A team that was two years removed from beating the Rams in Superbowl XXXVI. 31-0!!! The next week, we went to Jacksonville and beat the Jags 38-17, and, that game really wasn't even THAT close! The following week, Donovan McNabb rolled the Eagles into Ralph Wilson Stadium and methodically beat the Bills 23-13. After that game, the Bills were 2-1...and were never the same the rest of the season, winning only four more games the rest of the year, finishing the season 6-10...and, oh by the way, the last game of the season was a loss to the Patriots, the game that began "The Streak"...31-0 in Foxborough. New England, the same team Buffalo "embarrassed" on opening day, went on to beat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII. 2007: The Bills were fresh off a win vs. the Dolphins to move their record to 5-4. It was midseason, and the Bills were in the thick of the AFC playoff picture. J.P. Losman was actually starting to look the part of a franchise QB. Next up brought a tilt at home against Tom Brady, Randy Moss and the Patriots who were...10-0! The game brought such importance that it was "flexed" to the Sunday Night game in front of a national t.v. audience. Brady threw six TD's, three to Moss, and the Pats humiliated Buffalo 56-10 in front of the entire nation. The Bills finished 7-9, the Patriots went on to the Undefeated regular season, but lost to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII. 2008: Buffalo starts the season 4-0. Trent Edwards, while not lighting the world on fire, efficiently leads the Bills to their best start since 1992. Buffalo went on to play the Arizona Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium. At this time, the Cardinals were ok, but not great. Cards' SS Adrian Wilson came on a Safety Blitz, and Edwards was cuncussed. The Cardinals went on to romp the Bills. The following week, the Bills beat the Chargers at the Ralph, moving to 5-1. But, after Wilson's "kill shot", Trent Edwards, and the Bills, were never the same. The Bills lost 8 out of the last 10 remaining games, finishing 7-9. Arizona went on to participate in, and nearly win, Super Bowl XLIII against Pittsburgh. The moral of the story. When people say "The NFL is a marathon, not a sprint", that statement is spot on! Its pretty easy to start fast in the league, but very few teams in the league are able to sustain momentum through 16 games. And, those who do, typically go deep in the playoffs. As the season progresses, there is more game-film for teams to accumulate and study. Even IF the Bills end "The Streak" on Sunday, we can all feel pretty good about the 2011 version of the Bills, but regardless, the Buffalo Bills will have not made the playoffs, not won the AFC East, not clinched home-field, not won the Lamar Hunt trophy, nor won the ultimate prize...The Vince Lombardi Trophy!
  2. Until we actually beat the Patriots, I will never predict a "W" vs. them...
  3. The last time the Bills beat the New England Patriots was on opening day of 2003, just days after the Pats cut S Lawyer Milloy and Buffalo signed him. Merriweather is there for the taking and I think he could provide, at the very least, the same benefit Milloy did by tipping the Bills off the Pats playbook. Granted we don't have the Pats until week 3 this year, but Merriweather is, to me, still a top teir Safety in the NFL. Of course, I said the same thing of Milloy back in the day, and I ate my freakin' words. But like alot of Bills fans...I just wanna beat the Patriots...
  4. Oh my god! You really believe this team is as bad as the '08 Lions and will not win one game this year? Jesus, come on dude. I know the entire purpose of this board is to be as annoyingly negative as humanly possible, but 0-16?...REALLY? The Bills simply need to learn how to win close games. I can probably think of two-three games last year where the Bills were just utterly blown out of the building, Minnesota being the biggest one. All the other games Buffalo had a good shot of winnning. I'm not saying the Bills are going to the playoffs this year or anything like that. But 0-16 is just plain stupid!
  5. Just for arguments sake, my reply was blocked because I used the phrase "suck on that troll, biatch", but you got to drop an "F" bomb because you intentionally misspelled it? What the (explitive)?!
  6. Its a big mistake because the Bills' haven't made the playoffs since 1999. Its a big mistake because we have been New England's B word since the '03 opener. Its a big mistake because Chan Gailey is extremely lucky to even have a head coaching job in this league and hasn't ever won as a head-coach. No, I'm not real crazy about Chan bringing his his starter from Kansas City from the year they finished last in their division. Just sayin, bro... Props on the internet research, dude. My bad... :/
  7. i was referring to head-coaching jobs, not coordinators.
  8. This is strictly to throw gas on the fire....13-3 , Fitzpatrick-NFL MVP, Bills sweep the division, and win Super Bowl XLVI 52-17 against the Dallas Cowboys!!! S*ck THAT Troll, biatch!
  9. It is completely hilarious how much NFL fans and analysts on various sports networks just totally blow the preseason into something it totally isn't. I'll give you an example: In the Bills game last night, Shawn Merriman had back to back sacks on Chicago's suddenly "inept" offensive line. So the old Shawn Merriman is back, right?-More on that later. WGR's Paul Hamilton has an article on the station's web site that the Bills' offense, in so many words...Stinks! That the Lee Evans trade was the biggest, most disasterous mistake since hiring Tom Donahoe as the general manager. And Donald Jones as Evans' replacement is completely ridiculous. On the flip side, every side of Chicago, north side, south side, you name it, is ready to HANG Jay Cutler. Bears' fans are so bitter over the way Cutler left the playoff game last year that they can't get past the one thing that all NFL fans, sports-writers, sports-anchors, commentators and fantasy nerds should understand: The NFL preseason is completely, and utterly, a bona-fide scrimmage. The final scores do not matter, no coach loses his job, no playoff spots are clinched, no Lombardi Trophies are won and, lastly, no team can be labled a trainwreck disaster of a team in the preseason...not even our "poor" Buffalo Bills. Listen, the early part of the football season, including the current preseason, is going to be about as attractive and smooth as Jamarcus Russell's waist line and stretch-marks. We are coming off a four-month lockout, a free-for-all, frenzy of free-agency, resulting in players having to crash course to learn playbooks. Back to Shawn Merriman, the man had two sacks. Be happy with that! Print the pictures off NFL.com and frame them on your wall. Why? Because anybody who truly believes this man is going to be anywhere near as dominant as he was in his prime, you are catagorically DILLUSIONAL! I do believe Merriman can still make plays, but he isn't even going to be the best LB on this team, let alone a force in the leagus. I hope I'm wrong on that one...but I won't be. I don't care that the Bills scored 3 points last night, maybe massive tools like Jerry Sullivan do, but I do not. I am happy with Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 7 of 9 passed for 44 yards and didn't get blindsided by Julius Peppers, I am happy that Tyler Thigpen only completed one pass and is well on his way to becoming the mistake I thought he'd be as an "big" off-season acquisition. The NFL preseason is strictly for evaluating talent, and determining a depth-chart and roster cuts. But, alas, I guess we all need to stomach the overblown criticisms of the media. Such is life...
  10. Well, Lee Evans, you have finally gotten what I said you deserved for the last two years, a new start on a good, and contending, NFL team! Listen, I know that I'm gonna get blasted for this by a bunch of people who don't matter, but whatever. Look, Lee Evans has been the best reciever on this team for probably four years now, probably since Moulds left. Through the years, this poor man's talents have been wasted away by a team that has been baffled about what to do about a quarterback since Jim Kelly retired in 1996. Lee Evans never had anybody to throw the football to him. Names like J.P. Losman, Trent "checkdown" Edwards, Brian Brohm and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now, while Fitz gave Lee one of the best recieving games last year against those Ravens, Fitz fell so in love with Steve Johnson and David Nelson, that it was a foregone conclusion that Lee Evans days in a Bills uniform were numbered. Lee can still be an elite reciever in this league, and lets hope he becomes that opposite Anquan Boldin in Baltimore. He deserves it, he's been the quiet guy in Buffalo for alot of years while being a big fish in a small pond. The Bills are STILL rebuilding, but I'm not going to knock Buddy Nix and company for trading him. Now, what we traded him for? That I do have a problem with, but this post isn't about that, its about a guy who deserves to have success and has worked his tail off to achieve that success. Bash all you want TSW...but it's the Bills bumbling front office (over the years) that is the reason Lee Evans is no longer a Buffalo Bill. Good Luck 83 jr., you will be missed by this Bills fan! (Now, BASH AWAY GUYS!)
  11. David Nelson is actually listed as a WR. Our top TE is David Martin...SIGN SOMEONE ALREADY YOU FRIGGIN HICKS!
  12. Ladies and Gentleman...An ACTUAL NFL front office-Jeffrey Laurie and the Philadelphia Eagles.
  13. I know this is a longshot, but I think the Bills should really try trading for Asante Samuel. Our pass rush has been brutal for a long time now, which has allowed alot of big plays in the secondary, and the pass rush, on paper, will improve minorly at best this year. Buffalo is looking at moving Kyle Williams to defensive end, and the idea of moving DT to DE has blown up in our faces with recent experiments-see Marcus Stroud. The d-backfield is mediocre at best! Drayton Florence is probably our best DB, Leodis McKelvin is looking more-and-more like a bona fide bust, Terrence McGee used to be a really good corner but he's beginning to be pretty injury-prone. Our second-best DB is probably Reggie Corner, which says a lot... I say send Lee Evans, Roscoe Parrish and a 5th Round pick to get Samuel. We need him, and, he knows Tom Brady's tendancies very well from his New England days. Thoughts?
  14. I agree with your post 1000%. Listen dude, people get on here all the time just to bash others' posts just for their own personal satisfaction. How anybody doesn't agree with this post is beyond me, and, if they do, they're lying to themselves. There's a reason the Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999, and it's themselves. The reason nobody wants to play or coach in Buffalo is because they don't take themselves seriously. I can understand trying to build through the draft, but the other three teams in this division just got about 3 wins better than us this year. If we couldn't beat the Patriots with players like Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis and Julian Edelman, how exactly are we going to beat them now that they've added Haynesworth and Chad? If we couldn't stop a pot-head like Ricky Williams, how exactly will we stop Miami with Reggie Bush? The Jets just added Plaxico Burress and their Running game embarrasses us every time. The Bills have indeed improved, the fact is that Brad Smith and Marcell Darius just aren't enough. Hell, what's one more year of missing the playoffs, right?
  15. Well, Bills nation, as the 2011 season draws near, we are right in the middle of a "FREE AGENT FRENZY". And, as always, the Bills brass is firing up the phone lines of some of the NFL's most coveted free-agents, as they have in the previous 11 years. Hell, New England can have Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth...Miami is wasting time and money signing Reggie Bush and potentially inking Kyle Orton. The Jets???...they're only working on signing the biggest free-agent corner on the market in Ndamdi Asoumough and solidifying what has already been one of, if not the best, defense in football. As for our BELOVED BUFFALO BILLS???? Well, how about a WONDERFUL backup to our "starter" Fitz, ladies and gentleman, I give you...TYLER THIGPEN! And, for our wildcat offense that we never run...BRAD "SWISS ARMY KNIFE" SMITH!!! Hey Ralph, if you wonder why the Bills haven't beaten the Patriots in seven straight years, you might wanna sign some qualty free-agents to start with. Wanna know why you have had one winning season in the last 12 years?.........................
  16. Monday, we hopefully will welcome back the return of football. As a diehard Bills fan and NFL fan, my four-and-a-half month long nightmare will finally be over when the NFLPA votes to get back onto the field and resume the greatest sport in the world. Now, we can get to the point in the year when fans of every one of the 32 teams can be eternal optimists and believe their team has a shot this year. That said, as a Bills fan, I can't resist being optimistic. At the same time, we need to be realistic. Buffalo's worst days as a franchise are behind them. They do, however, still play in a division that includes Tom Brady and the Patriots and a Jets team that's blanketed with talent. So, here's how I see the season shaping up. I do apologize in advance for the record that I gave the Bills. It is an all to familiar one. But it is a significant improvement from 4-12 and I believe next year may be the year the Bills finally return to a contender in the AFC: AFC EAST NFC EAST ________ ________ 1. N.Y. JETS (11-5) 1. Philadelphia (12-4) 2. New England (10-6) 2. Dallas (10-6) 3. Buffalo (7-9) 3. N.Y. Giants (7-9) 4. Miami (3-13) 4. Washington (6-10) AFC NORTH NFC NORTH _________ _________ 1. Baltimore (12-4) 1. 17. WOW...you put alot of thought into that reply, tough guy?! More evidence that you're a JACKASS! I've read dumber posts...yourself included hotshot!
  18. The NFL is by far my favorite sport and I love my Buffalo Bills even though they haven't made the playoffs in eleven seasons. I want football back just as much as everybody else. But the truth is, this whole lockout has turned my stomach towards the NFL. Situations like this remind us that there are very few NFL players who actually play because they love the game. The NFL is no different than any other professional sport... Its all about money! You mean to tell me that in four months (maybe more, I dunno), the NFL and NFLPA can't come to a new CBA? I'm not going to go into how rediculous this whole situation is because that would just be redundantly stating the obvious. As I said, I'm a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and an NFL fan and I can not imagine what my Sunday afternoons will be like if the NFL is not on TV this fall. However, maybe its actually for the best. When the nations number one sport and its teams and owners loose Millions upon millions of dollars should the NFL cancel the upcoming season, than there ignorant greed will have gotten the best of them and, maybe that is exactly what needs to happen. I've listened to Roger Goodell feed all of us the same story for months now, as well as the owners. Not to mention the players bragging about how great it would be to not have to endure training camps and the dreaded TWO MORE GAMES on the schedule (OH NOOOOOOO!!!, Yes Hines Ward, that was a direct shot at you, now go back to dancing, plz...) Bottom line is, I was once a proud fan of this sport and now I'm embarrassed to even say that I AM a fan of the sport. Just cancel the season NFL, stop embarrasing us, the fans, but most of all...YOURSELVES!
  19. Just visited ESPN.com this morning and they ran an article/video on the possible teams that could move to Los Angeles. Interestingly, and personally gratifying, the Buffalo Bills were not mentioned as one of the teams. The teams were: Chargers, Vikings, Raiders, Rams and Jaguars. Just thought I'd pass the good news on to the Bills Nation. GO BILLS!
  20. I know I'm gonna get alot of flack for this, but its okay, I'm used to it. I'm just gonna say this: Our offense looked quite good for the better part of the second half of last season with Fitzpatrick as our starter. And, I must admit, when Buffalo signed him it kinda made my stomach turn. I mean, in Cincinnati, the guys decision making and just about everything else STUNK! But as I've said previously, I am 100% sold on Ryan Fitzpatrick as Buffalo's starting QB. The guy can sling the ball and he has guts. Maybe its because Trent Edwards deprived me for so long of anything that resembles an NFL QB, I dunno. That being said, I just wanna throw something out there. We have a solid starting QB now (in my view), our backfield is solid with Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller (when he actually gets to play in games), our O-Line is as good as its been in about five seasons. The recieving corp really has come of age with Steve Johnson looking like a bona-fide star. So, why not give Plaxico Burress a shot here in Buffalo. Line him and Stevie out wide with Lee Evans in the slot position. Thoughts? (and be nice)...
  21. ...first of all, I truly believe that neither Cam Newton nor Blaine Gabbert will materialize into a good NFL quarterback. In my opinion, this was one of the weakest QB draft classes of all time. Secondly, we get alot of flack for our front office being a "bunch of southern rednecks". Well, those bunch of "Southern rednecks" may have just put together one of the best NFL drafts we've ever had. Coming off a year where they rushed the C.J. Spiller pick to the podium like they stole something and like it was the greatest thing anyone has ever done, when, in fact, it was a pick the Bills didn't need with, at the time, Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch on the roster. Oh, and add the fact that Spiller rarely even played in 2010. This years draft, however, made me actually believe that Buffalo will be a half-way decent team in 2011...if there is a 2011. A defensive themed draft was what this team needed. I will say this, and its only my opinion but I would like to get other Bills' fans opinions on this: Was the 2010 Buffalo Bills rush defense not THE worst rush defense you have EVER seen in your entire life???!!! Which makes the Marcell Darius pick the best possible pick for the Bills. NOT Cam Newton, reminds me so much of Jamarcus Russell that its not funny. NOT Von Miller, who reminds me so much of Aaron Maybin that its even LESS funny. That being said, I have to wonder what becomes of Kyle Williams, who actually had a pretty good year last year at DT. My only thought could be that they try to trim down one of there guys and convert one of them into a DE. Hopefully, this time that will work (see Marcus Stroud). And as for QB, I've felt as good about a Bills QB in, probably, eight years when we acquired Bledsoe from New England. I know, call me crazy, but Fitzpatrick reminds me alot of Brett Favre, minus all the gauty stats, records, Superbowl ring and Marital troubles. Fitz has guts...PERIOD. He will go out and sling the ball into tight windows and he has a real passion for the game. Not to mention, he is becoming a fantastic on-the-field and locker room leader. I know everybody wants that "Franchise" guy that will lead the Bills for years to come, as do I, but in the 2011 NFL draft, not one of the 32 NFL teams got that guy, I can assure you of that.
  22. Just to let Adrian in on a little something, actual "Slaves" didn't make a dime for any of the work they did. Not one penny, that's why they were "slaves". NFL players make millions of dollars a year to play a game. Uh, yeah Adrian...that's the same...
  23. I hate to be the typical "Buffalo Pessimist" simply because, when Bills fans get pessimistic, it tends to annoy the hell out of me. However, I must bring up a legitimate concern. The Quarterback position. A topic that, in itself, will send shivers down the spine of even the most optomistic Bills fan. On his most recent "Mock Draft", ESPN's Mel Kiper, Jr. had the Buffalo Bills selecting Auburn QB Cam Newton at number 3 overall. Now, I've read mostly negative comments from fans on all different message boards on the internet. And, while I can get with why the Bills fans wouldn't want to see Newton dawning the new duds the Bills are due to debut soon, I'd like to briefly explain why this selection would be a GOOD thing for the Bills. To put it plain and simple: If Roger Goodell walks to the podium on Draft Day #1 and announces to the world; "With the third pick, in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select-----CAM NEWTON-Quarterback, Auburn." Now I ask you this...Should that quote come out of Commisioner Goodell's pie hole on draft day, you mean to tell me that these same fans who are criticizing Newton's skills and his self indulging attitude, won't be jumping out of their chairs and high fiving fellow Bills fans? It is simple. If this goes down in April at the draft (which I undeniably STILL believe it will not, and nobody would ever convince me otherwise), it would be the most exciting moment Buffalo fans have had in over a decade. Probably since the Bills inked Bledsoe away from the Pats. Now, while I dont believe it will happen, there is one reason and one reason ONLY why it may...a little thing called...PUB! The Buffalo Bills have had ONE winning season since 1999...ONE! And that year, they missed the playoffs losing to Brian St. Pierre and the rest of the Steelers' scrubs. For over ten years, the Bills have been a complete joke. The are craving for something (or somebody) to catapoulte them into relavence once again, and if they want to do it with one big ass swing, Newton is it. He is THAT GUY!!! Think about it, new uni's, new "franchise quarterback", and "Lights Out" rockin the mullet on his dome. Trust me, all thos disgruntled fans who were so very "sick and tired" of the Bills losing ways, who vowed after 4-12 last year and an 11th straight non-playoff season, will be bresking out their Visa and Mastercards as if they were Porn addicts who swore off smut, only to catch a glimps of a new internet hottie, and caved while jacking up their credit card statements and watching their wives drive off in the family van with the kids. It will be like the last 11 years almost NEVER HAPPENED, and, in a way, that is exactly what Ralph Wilson and the rest of the brain trust need to do. Cam Newton could, no, WOULD do it, even before he walks onto an NFL field for the first time. PUB-LICITY! Now, back to why this would, and probably IS a bad thing. Think about what the afformentioned "11 years" have been like as a Bills fan........I'll give you a minute......WOW, threw up in your mouth a little bit, huh? My point is, the Bills CAN NOT get this wrong again should they select a "Franchise Quarterback" in the draft this year. Come on guys, we've heard the word "franchise quarterback" in the NFL draft over the years. Bet you can name more FAILS than PASSES when it comes to that. Here, let me give you a start: FAILS- Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, Rick Mirer, Andre Ware, David Klingler, TODD COLLINS, J.P. LOSMAN, Jeff George, Heath Shuler. PASS- Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick (sort of). Now, think of all the quarterbacks who were taken in the later (sometimes WAY later)rounds, or werent even drafted AT ALL!- Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo. It's a huge decision, and every damn second better until the draft better be devoted to that number 3 pick by the Bills front office! If they get it wrong, the next decade may be even MORE painful!
  24. The sad thing is he's probably better than any QB on our roster...REALLY!
