  1. Pork ribs.  I got a recipe from my chef buddy “smack it up, flip it, rub it down.”  I rub the ribs and let them dry brine in the fridge over night.  I first hit them on the grill just to give them a nice char.  Then I cook them in the oven low and slow for a few hours.  Fall of the bone tender and delicious.

Dominik Hasek was the greatest goalie I ever saw and the Buffalo Sabres organization were incompetent to not win a Stanley Cup with Hasek in Buffalo is embarrassing. Now we will see if that happens again with Buffalo Bills Josh Allen? Time will tell but I have zero tolerance the bums running our sports teams and neither one the Buffalo Sabres or the Buffalo Bills get the benefit of the doubt anymore. I don’t trust no process after 49 years of maybe next year it’s cliche. When  you see the Buffalo sports teams waste O.J. Simpson, Gilbert Perrault, Bob McAdoo, Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly, Dominik Hasek, Jack Eichel so far in my time line as a Buffalo sports fan and now we have Josh Allen who knows how that turns out. The only generational talent the Buffalo sports teams didn’t waste was Buffalo Bandits John Tavares and Dhane Smith. Am I wrong? No that is why I don’t trust any process anymore with Buffalo sports teams in my opinion. Go Bandits! Go Sabres! Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

When are you leaving for good?

  3. Good lord man.  Sorry to hear about this.  I was thinking about trying to cut down a couple 30-40 foot cedar trees along my driveway that are dying.  Never done it before, but figured how hard could it be?  Maybe I’ll just pay to have it done. 🤔

  4. Just cancelled DTV today.  Have been a customer since 2007.  The retentions guy tried everything he could to keep me, and then was trying to get me to “suspend” my account for some reason.  After about a 5 min discussion I officially cancelled.

Signed up for YouTube TV which is like $72/month and got the early deal for NFL Sunday Ticket.  We looked at our other streaming subscriptions, and realized that we could rid of a couple bc the content we liked was also offered of YouTube TV.  Looks like we’ll end up saving ~$40-50/month when the dust settles.

Those guys you named are the exception and there is very few of them.  Paul Rabil might be the most endorsed player of all time and his net worth right now is 5 mil. He finished college how long ago? Retired a couple years ago but is still heavily  involved in the PLL, how is that well North of a million a year?

And I’m not judging the game on how much money these guys make. I love the sport, best thing I ever did was start playing again after my brother passed away. Helped me get through some tough times. Just don’t think many people realize how these guys live.

You must have missed the first sentence of my reply to your post where I wrote “You are correct.”

Albeit the rare exception, there are some players such as Rabil and Thompson who either were or are making north of 1 million/year.  As I said, Paul Rabil’s Adidas deal alone used to be 1 million/year before he and Mike created the PLL.  My understanding is that Lyle Thompson’s deal with Nike is comparable.

The reality is that 98% of these guys have to find other sources of employment.  I have a personal friend who plays for the Albany Firewolves of the NLL, but still works a full-time job as an accountant in Denver in the offseason.  Some guys supplement their incomes by doing the camp circuit which can pay quite well for the bigger name players.

That said, things have become much better for the players since the creation of the PLL and increasing popularity of the NLL.  Pay is not great but substantially better, health insurance, profit sharing, etc…

It’s got a long way to go, but certainly has come a long way since the MLL days with players getting dressed in tents next to the field.

No lacrosse player is making a million a year just to play. NLL and PLL top players get around 40k a season. If they play in both that still isn’t even close. Most guys play in multiple leagues chasing money. I think the PLL isn’t letting guys play MSL or WLA anymore while their season is going on so that will cut out some pocket change.

You are correct.  The best PLL players don’t make more than 40-50K per season.  Some of the best, however, make well north of a million per year when you include their endorsement deals, summer camp tours, and merchandising/apparel lines.  Paul Rabil had a million dollar endorsement deal with Adidas well before he even left the MLL to create the PLL with his brother.  Lyle Thompson has a very substantial endorsement deal with Nike, and he (along with his brothers/cousins) owns a very lucrative apparel company.  These are just a couple examples.

Judging a sport based on how much money the athletes earn is kind of foolish though.  Don’t you think?  There are a lot of sports I love where the athletes don’t make a lot of money and play mostly for the love of the sport.

Is he that important? I like lacrosse but haven’t followed it in a while

He’s one of the best indoor players in the world.  One of the better field players too.  Beastly but silky mitts and a blistering shot.

I’m throwing it out there what do you think wants ? A versatile defender who can defend 1-3 … or a potential volume scorer ?

    it’s a good conundrum

I think chance is good at a lot not elite at much … bell can really stroke it… he mite edge out bell

Never know I guess.  Here’s my guess for starting lineup.  First game of the regular season.  I could definitely see Red playing more players than JB has in the past, as I truly believe he wants to get back to a more fast paced, “run and gun” offense.  I could see 9 or 10 players getting burn.

    Mintz

    Starling

    Bell

    Benny

    McLeod

Do they want defense or offense? Chance is a better defender and rebounder

Bell is the better offensive weapon

the rotation will be huge and based on matchups

I was referring specifically to the starting lineup, but yeah.

  10. Bandits offense is just not the same without Josh Byrne.  You could tell Colorado was sliding early to Dhane Smith and Cloutier.  Tahoka not getting his typical wide open looks at GLE.  Tavares is going to have to mix in some new looks on offense.
