This is true as I am sort of in the same boat.

I recognize the potential and think it's going to be for realz this time, but I am not buying in until I see it on the ice.

fwiw, yesterday I just convinced DTV to cut my bill nearly in half or I was cancelling because they lost Sunday Ticket. The only reason I even considered keeping it was because it's the only place I can get Sabres games down here in Western Pennsyltucky.

FYI.  Here in VT, with the exception of games against the Bruins (NESN) or Rangers (MSG) which are blacked out, I get all of the Sabres games on ESPN+.

Who did you like in the gane fight? And the card

Really liked him for the fight

I was all over Gane.  I think the there was some recency bias at work here because of the Jon Jones loss, but I never thought Spivak had a chance.  Seems like everyone was convinced that Spivak would take him down and control him, but I was thinking that Gane was too physically imposing to be controlled by Spivak.  Spivak isn’t Jon freaking Jones.  😂

I was also on BSD, Oezdemir, Charriere, Ange Loosa, and Nora Cornolle (my dog pick).  I played 3 contests.  Wagered $60 and won $150.

    I dabble 😆

Nate Diaz has made me a good amount on betting submission wins

Ahhh, Nate Diaz.  The man is making so much more money now being Jake Paul’s punching bag than he ever did in his MMA career.

I was doing pretty well there for a bit betting on closely lined fights.  Lately, I’ve been killing it in multiplier DFS contests.  Been cashing checks just about every week.  The Singapore card was my worst day in a while.  Wagered $45 and won $60.  We’ll see how Paris goes today.

Contrary to what others may insinuate, Beane is not a moron.  He's made a lot of good moves and built us a pretty good team in a very competitive league.

But it's not a SB team yet and misses like Elam are part of the reason why.   Obviously, he knew Elam was a press corner and drafted him anyway.  Maybe to give our defense more versatility.  Maybe something convinced him that McD and his staff could coach Elam to be a good zone defender.  Whatever the reason, it looks like Beane was wrong.  It happens.

Some GM, maybe Ron Wolfe, said that you want to get one or two Pro Bowlers in every draft.  The NFL is filled with jags who have starting jobs; you need some Pro Bowlers to set your team apart.  It doesn't matter if they come in the 1st or 7th round.  If the 1st round pick is a bust and the 5th rounder is a perennial All Pro, it's all good.  The problem for us is we didn't get any elite players out of that draft...  Well, it's not looking good so far.

Tell me a GM that has consistently drafted 1-2 pro bowlers in their drafts.

You may be right. It’s all conjecture and supposition from me. Obviously, they felt Elam was or could be better than McCreary and Gordon. Elam may suddenly ‘get it’ and turn out to be a good choice after all. But right now, he doesn’t seem to be high in the pecking order. He’s trending towards ‘bust’.

That is possible.  There also is a chance that he isn’t catching on to the zone heavy scheme like was hoped.  He might be better suited for a defense with more press man coverage.  No idea.

Elam was exactly what coaches and GMs usually avoid in the draft - a reach.
With Tre White’s return still uncertain and the departure of Wallace, the Bills were targeting a CB, though probably not Elam. I’m skeptical that they actually had a 1st rd grade on him.
A run on the available CBs earlier in the draft made for a desperation move. The reach.
I’d bet the decision Beane chose didn’t come easily. There were probably players in other positions with higher grades they could take, but that would leave a gaping hole in the CB position, with a shot at another prospect more than 30 picks away. Even then, the odds of landing a starting CB after the 50th pick for a Super Bowl contender were slim.
Elam was a consolation prize and they made the pick with their collective fingers crossed.

They traded up to draft Elam.  Doesn’t sound like a “collective fingers crossed” move to me.  Especially with McCreary and Gordon still on the board.  I’d guess that they really liked him at the time.

  7. Share out.

I’ve never heard this expression prior to moving to Vermont, so maybe it’s a New England thing.  When I’m in a meeting and it’s my turn to report my findings, the meeting facilitator will usually say “Now it’s Johnny’s turn to share out the results of his evaluation.”  It sounds dumb to me.
