Are you kidding me? Everett was a joke at tight end. He was a MAJOR reach in the 3rd round and had 2 career receptions. I remember being so upset with the Bills brass when they took him. They were hoping to strike gold with the then endless list of Miami prospects. He was average speed, average hands, plus size, below average blocker coming out and proved to not even help on special teams. Nelson is plus speed, plus hands, plus size. If Nelson turns out to be twice the player Everett was, I'll be disappointed.

We're moving Byrd to safety and Harris to OLB. 2 corners in a draft isn't ridiculous especially in the late rounds when you go after your top rated player left on the board. This was an incredibly successful draft. Some other things...we were trying hard to move up to 20th overall to get Pettigrew, we loved the guy that much. If Maybin wasn't available at 11, we were going to grab him there. The Lions said they'd do it if the one player they wanted was off the board. Turns out they had there eye on the tight end as well...Front office was enamored with Wood AKA Thurman Murman from Bad Santa and from all reports he should be a very good player in this league for years to come.

Talking with people on the inside, our plan is to move Butler to RT with Hangartner in the middle and our two new maulers next to him.

Brandon loves this guy too. He came in and all reports is that hes a physical specimen. Don't know why everyone is so down on him, hes by far the most athletic end in the draft. He has the most upside. Most peoples complaint is his size but thats such an overrated attribute of a dominant end. Hes one of the taller prospects and has room to add muscle and bulk which he has already. Expect us to take him if hes around at 11, and don't moan about it til you see the guy on the field.

Ever since Antonio Gates, I've always looked at certain power forwards and small forwards and tried to see how they would translate a tight end. Watching J'Nathan for 2 years now, he didn't jump out at me as a football prospect until one of my buddies pointed it out. From a sample of about 8 games: 1)The guys got real soft hands and made some tough catches in traffic in the paint. 2) Adjusted his body well while in the air. 3) Has broad shoulders and is strong in boxing out. All strong characteristics you look for when you're looking for a basketball player to make a transition. Never really noticed his straight end speed but the kids a warrior and wears his heart on his sleeve. Another college player I like a lot for the NFL is UNC's Deon Thompson. An athlete is an athlete and I'll risk a very late round pick for the opportunity to strike gold instead of someone like Justin Geisinger
