A point of emphasis on manners...
Delete This Account replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
fine with me, so long as you're picking up my tab from here on out? and now that i've picked up a taste for jameson, well, i'm sure you can do the math, joe! wow, i take a few days off and all hell breaks loose. well, it's bound to happen because i can appreciate the frustrations among bills fans these decades, though it doesn't excuse the irrational knuckleheads. and i appreciate SDS' support, and that of a majority of posters. i'm not blameless in letting myself get carried away on occasion, though it should be understood that there is only so much those on this side of the fifth estate can divulge or provide. and while some of it's opinion, much of it is very well informed opinion, based on conversations and interviews that have taken place. i do think -- heck, forget think, know -- it was way north of the line for someone to demand sources be revealed. that's such a dumb and plain foolhardy notion that makes me actually start believing that the children of today have an unprecedented sense of entitlement to llead me to begin lobbying for the immediate reinstitution of corporal punishment. a spanking or two never hurt. but that's for another thread, i'm sure. note, that i'll be sporadically visiting this board due to job requirements over the next two months. so it's nothing personal. jw -

and it's pretty easy sitting safely behind anonymity at your computer, putting forth wild notions that stick with your apparent agenda, without clearly being close to the situation. ... what a great gig you've got. to whom are you accountable to here? jw -
let me try to sneak one last post in before anyone notices ... jw

to be fair, i have no issue with how ESPN or any other website or publication runs an AP story, so long as the AP is credited, as it was here. my intention was simply to point out to the OP that his initial thread title, which referred to this as an ESPN story, was incorrect. since that's been clarified, there's really no big deal. and i do have very much respect for Tim Graham, with whom i've had the pleasure of working alongside in many press boxes and, afterward, closed a bar or two. absolutely no "fight" there. jw -

with all due respect to Tim Graham, this is an Associated Press story. jw -
¶ in a pissy mood, and it's time to close this sucker of a thread, so i dare anyone to top or, in all reality, bottom this one. ¶ the liquor's flowing, and so are my fingers on this keyboard, and there's one tweeter out there who's taken at least one too many liberties with the "old" adjective that's made this night far too incomplete. old, my ass. 91 or 70 or 40 for that matter. i'm 46, and this baby-faced "twit" seems to think that Jerry Jones and Bob Kraft and every other NFL owner is some naive innocent, capable of calling upon the wisdom of halas. ¶ good god, agism, alive an well in twitland. ¶ and this is not a night to take prisoners or ask questions. ¶ ¶ but i digress, and i'm not exactly sure what i'm diverging from, though the point i have might eventually, and hopefully, be as blunt as a triple-xxx porn show at the o'farrell (and for the laymen and women, please, look that reference up before making judgment). ¶ ¶ got the jazz butcher banging on the ipod, and several e-mails outstanding, and a vacation on the horizon before heading out to vancouver for a busy stretch of the olympics. ¶ the bills are making midnight moves and it's starting to impair on my drinking time. so i take issue with these ungodly hour press releases. and Lori can attest that. ¶ ¶ but on with this red-assed rant, with no real purpose or shame, because it's been a long day spoiled already. it began some 18 hours ago with some Mark from Albany accusing me of being a "Raiders fan," in an e-mail he sent to a Roger Wyland's radio show, and questioned why i'm so hard on the bills. well, if 10 years of mediocrity doesn't turn anyone's crank then god be with the fantasy writers, psychofants and baloney chuckers. ¶ there's not enough lipstick to paste on this pig to ham it up to a status of respectibility. 10 years of missing the playoffs and on pace with detroit lions should be enough to establish a level of skepticism, eh? ¶ ¶ please. ¶ ¶ i previously wondered what followed z. ¶ well, it's been well established that zed is dead. zed is dead. ¶ ¶ ¶ jw

no, he is the senior vice president of football administration. jw -
with all due respect: -- everyone was taken by surprise by the GM hire. -- many in the media DID in FACT suggest the team would hire a GM first. -- Russ Brandon rarely meets with reporters, and Ralph Wilson has, for the most part, been incommunicado. -- Gailey was so far off the radar, and Nix so new to the process that it was nearly impossible to build contacts with either of the two. -- the local press wasn't the only ones going ga-ga on speculation. i seem to recall a group of fans, several bloggers and numerous posters clamoring for Bill Cowher, even after Ralph Wilson all but ruled him out. there was even one post here that questioned what Mr. Wilson actually told The Associated Press and suggested the Cowher was still in the running. (oh, really?). -- numerous local reporters didn't go the tweets-as-so-called-journalism route, which truly led to mass confusion, angst and spotty factual reporting. sure, there were misses here. but to say we weren't looking is going a little overboard. as for Berman's cab driver, please. he gets tipped off 2 minutes before the pick is in. i'll allow him that amusing scoop. j (group me among the incompetent if you like) w.
