some of you seem to be very knowledgable baseball fans, so can anyone explain: 1. WHY did francona bench the starter (whasisname...lowe?)after 69 pitches when he was still throwing really really well, in favor of a guy who had just thrown 100 pitches 2 days prior? i mean, i know he's PEDRO and all...but jeez... 2. and then...WHY did he yank pedro after he finally seemed to be warmed up and effective? seems like francona's ring was puckered a little too tight if you ask me...or maybe there's an explanation?

true...plus injuries are just a fact of life in the nfl...you should nver expect to play more than 8-10 games with all your starters, and you have to be good enough to overcome that.

ok well, i am glad the bosox came back and beat the evil empire, but i guess you have to like baseball to really get it...i am just way too causal a fan. normally, i just can't sit still for baseball at all UNLESS it is something like the series we just saw. actually i can't see how the world series could ever be as good! i do have several friends who are sox fans so it will be fun talking to them today...

we're 6 point dogs because the people who do this for a living figured that would be the necessary number to get equal play on both sides. it doesn't matter who sucks and who doesn't. and by the way, until proven otherwise, we still do suck.

i thought willis was just-ok on blitz pickup. his guy got by at least twice that i can think of...one sack and one near-sack. on the other hand, the guy's hardly played...he'll only get better.

i was teaching about skeletal and connective tissue today in my class and the subject of willis came up...when i explained to the kids which ligaments were torn on my little knee model, and then described how his leg bent like an ostrich leg...they were "EWWWWWW"-ing to beat the band. anyway.. i thought it was SO UNNECESSARY for cbs to show that play during the broadcast yesterday. i DO get squeamish at stevestojan like that...i also saw the theisman play and i will never forget it. and yeah, when arteries are damaged and blood flow gets cut off to the lower leg, amputation is often the consequesnce...i once met an olympic-trials hurdler who landed funny during a hurdle workout. he sustained a compound fracture, severed an artery, and by the time they got him stablized the infection had sent in....good bye lower leg ...he's a world class paralympic swimmer now.

i hope every commentator in the country says we suck, and i hope the players read/hear it. the worst thing that could happen to this team right now is to think like they are somehow better than everyone else just because they beat the 0-6 fish. these guys don't have the character to handle success just yet. they need to just do their jobs. without doing dumb stuff.

i think that when you come in and take the "nice" approach to start your coaching tenure, you will inevitably draw the worst out of your brats when you finally do put your foot down. i think we are finally seeing why adams is on his 3rd team in 4 years.

in fairness, bledsoe sidestepped a sack all by himself when willis whiffed on a blitz pickup in th 4th quarter...but then he is kind of nimble...
