Unfortunately, the Raiders have better QB's than we do. Campbell, Gradkowski, and Boller are unfortunately far superior to Edwards, Fitzpatrick, and Brohm. If Boller is playing well enough as the #3 to keep Brennan from seeing the field that doesn't mean Brennan isn't worth a look on our part. My impression from Brennan is that he's certainly not afraid to throw the ball, and I think he's got more talent than our other resident "gunslinger," Fitzy (I think I just threw up in my mouth calling Fitzpatrick a "gunslinger").

I know it's a little late in the game, but I would pick him up and send Fitz or Brohm packing. Or put Levi on the PS and carry four. Thoughts?

Again, the love for Nic Harris. What "promise" did this guy actually show?? I wish him the best too, but as an undersized LB who played as if he had limited football instincts (perhaps due to the position change) and was average-at-best in coverage, I doubt he'll "find a lot of success in Carolina." This guy is a black Coy Wire. Too slow to play safety, to small to play LB, can't cover from either.

Should have signed Colt Brennan once Washington let him go, he would have been had for dirt cheap and automatically would have been the #2 IMO. We don't have our 2011 starting QB on this roster.

If you really have "no faith" in him I'd think you'd be a little more than "pleasantly surprised" with eight sacks. I have no faith either, obviously. He gets three sacks and I'll be pleasantly surprised. He gets eight and I'll take off all my clothes and run around the house during the first snowstorm.

Eight for Maybin?? I'll bet you a grand he doesn't get half and put it in escrow right now. Deal? You know it. From a new position at 30 years old? A position that doesn't suit his already limited skillset? Maybe half that. For his salary Kelsay should be cut.

All you guys that think Maybin is gonna get it and lead the team in sacks this year are !@#$ing hysterical. Aside from Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay led the team last year with five sacks from his natural position at DE. Behind him Kyle Williams had four, while Ryan Denney and Spencer Johnson had two apiece. Schobel's gone, Kelsay and Williams have moved to positions that don't fit their skill sets (there is no way Kelsay excels at OLB and even if Williams who is a prototypical 4-3 DT excels he won't be racking up sacks), Denney is 33 and still terrible, and Spencer Johnson likely comes off the bench this year. My guess is we have QB-pressure-by-committee, register somewhere between 24th and 30th in sacks with Torbor leading the way with 5.5. Maybin is cut at the end of 2011. If we want someone to rush the passer that has no skills except for his speed (and Mike Mayock's prized first step ("you either wake up with it in the morning or you don't")) but is finished once the opposing tackle gets a hand on you, then maybe we should just have Roscoe rush the passer. Wouldn't be any less effective, IMO.

Sorry, but you're wrong here. There were no bad views at Foxboro. Trying to watch a game or a concert from the upper level at Gillette is horrible. Maybe not enough amenities but I'd trade that in for lower prices and better views any day.

What is the obsession with a new stadium? Seven games a year are played at the Ralph and I think it's one of the best places to see a game. Who cares if it's not new and fancy? It's also not a billion dollars. The problem with people in this country is that they assume bigger/newer = better. Gillette Stadium isn't half as great to watch a game as Foxboro was. Same with Citi Field and Shea Stadium. Relax, people.

It's not that I assume they'll suck, it's that people need to settle with their expectations on players like that. It doesn't matter who it is, it's always the same unfounded optimism by what feels like a majority of posters. I wish the best for Batten and Moats and anyone in a Bills uniform, but it seems like every few days there's someone posting about how excited they are for Player X to get his opportunity for no good reason. Besides, are we really getting hyped up about a tweet? Seriously? The first one I remember this being about was Alvin Bowen. There was no reason whatsoever to be even remotely excited about his presence on the team, yet so many were. Then Bowen got cut after one year and Nic Harris came along. An undersized converted safety who scouted poorly, the masses talked about him like he was the next Cornelius Bennett, yet he couldn't even cut it as the next Coy Wire. Now I hear the same about Moats and Batten yet these people have undoubtedly never seen this guy play a down except for maybe a 30 second youtube video they watched the day after the draft. If you went to SDSU or JMU and you saw him play frequently then that's one thing, but the unfounded and baseless optimism just gets old after awhile.

Here's a thought: maybe Brohm just isn't any good and a vast number of you have attached your hopes to him simply because of the projections and expectations for him coming out of school?

+1 Wood and Levitre are just going to get better. The whole line is so young - Hangartner is the oldest one at 28. Sure LT is a soft spot, but I don't think the entire line is all that weak. I'll put money on whomever wins the battle at LT outperforming a 35 year old Flozell Adams.

It'll be the Derek Anderson situation in Cleveland all over again. He was a one-hit wonder that year he went to the Pro Bowl and his contract just happened to be expiring. So they gave him a deal somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 years/$24M, he sucked the next year, really sucked the next year, then got cut. If Edwards has a top-15 QB season I think we're in much better shape than we thought. That puts him up around Matt Ryan/Tony Romo and I just don't see it happening. If it does though we probably don't draft in the top ten next year and we can probably justify going after a different position than QB. Interesting thought though.
