  1. i'm more than fine with hiring Shanahan. but no one is without flaws.....and here is a big one regarding shanahan......the denver broncos lead the entire nfl with the most "dead" money. as most of you know, "dead" money is the portion of a teams salary cap that is allotted to players who are no longer on the team. that is a sure indication of not doing a good job of evaluating talent. i happen to think that this is the single most important trait we need our GM to have.

  2. quality Left Tackles are so rare and so important. Peters has proven, when motivated, he is one of the best. problem is, he is not a self motivator. Short term the peters trade is a DISASTER !!......long term is yet to be played out, but i lean towards the bills did the right thing. i say this coming from a guy who would give up two #1 draft choices for an All Pro in his prime 9 out of 10 times. Peters is that rare exception.

  3. i understand where your going with this, but i mostly disagree. first of all, it is unlikely that shanahan will leave that meeting with a done deal, verbal or otherwise. at best he leaves saying he is very interested. the bills still need to meet the "rooney" rules which cover coaches and GM's. that will take time, unless they are willing to lose a draft pick over violating that hiring policy.

in general, i feel that Ralph is sincere in his belief that cleaning house is in order and that he is willing to pay top dollar for a coach and gm. i believe this because Russ Brandon has convinced him that this is the only way to sell tickets. buffalo is a very desirable job for a new gm because they are in great shape with the salary cap which means a new GM can make an immediate impact. shanahan would be a great hire. but,if it's not shanahan, there are several other very acceptable candidates. who knows how much say shanahan had in denver related to the draft, he was not the gm there. i still feel strongly that the most important person is the one with final say in the draft and free agents. i have previously mentioned GM only candidates like Charlie Casserly and Floyd Reese.

to conclude, if we dont get shanahan, all is not lost. there are numerous other options that will get the fan base back on the band wagon.

  4. that is DeMontie Cross, assistant Linebackers Coach / Special Teams. Cross enters his fourth season with the Bills in 2009 and will continue to work with the team’s linebackers and special teams units. Defensively, Cross works with outside linebackers. Cross primarily works with gunners on the punt coverage unit and jammers on the punt return unit.

  5. good call, but you were off a day...lol........btw, should i buy, sell or hold my stocks ?

seriously tho, there must be tickets still available for the remaining home games, gotta keep that illusion of hope alive. the bills are a mess, we all knew that Jauron was getting fired, just a matter of when. the teams number one need is a football GM to make personnel decisions, then a top notch coach. usually one man can't do both.

  6. Aaron Schobel is the most overpaid/underproducing player on the team. he will not be on this team next year. he is easily handled one on one, has no power move, only gets garbage "coverage" sacks, keeps getting injured. he jumped off the ship along time ago. his comments, while justified and understandable just sealed his fate. he should have kept his fat mouth shut and hope the bills allow him to continue stealing money.

  7. the bills are a mess. there is no way Dick Jauron returns. the only way the bills will sell tickets next year is to create the false illusion of "hope" thru a head coaching change. i really don't see ralph bringing in a high profile coach either ( + $5 mil, like Cowher, Holmgren, Shanahan) who will also want to be the defacto GM over all personnel moves with an assistant to help do cap/contracts. i do see Russ Brandon staying on the business/sales side of things, but losing his football responsibilties. i would expect Ralph to hire a "proven" GM along the lines of Floyd Reese (former Tennesee GM and current New England Senior football advisor) and a proven 2nd tier coach along the lines of Marty Shottenheimer, Billick and possibly Gruden. it is unlikely the bills will go the "hot" coordinator route this time around.

  8. which "crazy" are you ?

    adjective

    1. mentally deranged; demented; insane.

    2. senseless; impractical; totally unsound: a crazy scheme.

    3. Informal. intensely enthusiastic; passionately excited: crazy about baseball.

    4. Informal. very enamored or infatuated (usually fol. by about): He was crazy about her.

    5. Informal. intensely anxious or eager; impatient: I'm crazy to try those new skis.

    6. Informal. unusual; bizarre; singular: She always wears a crazy hat.

    7. Slang. wonderful; excellent; perfect: That's crazy, man, crazy.

    8. likely to break or fall to pieces.

    9. weak, infirm, or sickly.

    10. having an unusual, unexpected, or random quality, behavior, result, pattern, etc.: a crazy reel that spins in either direction.

    –noun

    11. Slang. an unpredictable, nonconforming person; oddball: a house full of crazies who wear weird clothes and come in at all hours.

    12. the crazies, Slang. a sense of extreme unease, nervousness, or panic; extreme jitters: The crew was starting to get the crazies from being cooped up below decks for so long.

    —Idiom

    13. like crazy, a. Slang. with great enthusiasm or energy; to an extreme: We shopped like crazy and bought all our Christmas gifts in one afternoon.

    b. with great speed or recklessness: He drives like crazy once he's out on the highway.

  9. you mentioned money was an issue.....tickets to that Bills game will be available in abundance...i would expect you could find seats for as little as $20 each online or from scalpers at the game. also, that game may or may not be meaningful to indy.....they have a history of resting starters in those situations.

the sabre/pit game will be a very tough ticket to get. An unusually high amount of canadian fans will come down to see their "next one" Sidney Crosby, not to mention that bus loads will come from pittsburgh. The sabres realize this is a popular game and have tier priced that game accordingly.... no bargains from scalpers.

i would think you could get 4 bills/indy tix for the price of just 1 sabre/pit tix. if money was NOT an issue, i would lean towards the hockey game, god only knows what the state of affairs will be surrounding the Bills as they head for the bus. The Sabres on the other hand should still be in the hunt for a playoff spot (currently playing over their heads).

  10. #1- he WILL become a free agent. his contract all but guarantees it.....he makes $ 1 mil this year with a CLUB option of $ 5 mil next year. it is highly unlikely philly will want to keep him.... they already have a pretty good backup in Kolb.

#2- his career QB rating is 75, nothing to get excited about. as a pure passer he is below average. his "wow" factor came from his ability to run the ball. i actualy think his best fit is with Miami and the wildcat.

#3- signing vick would only make "marketing" sense. i doubt next year's new regime of GM & Head Coach will want to start off with this three ring circus.

NOTHING THE BILLS DO WITH THE GLAMOUR POSITIONS WILL WORK UNTIL THEY FIX BOTH LINES.......they are in desperate need of a Left Tackle and another quality DT.

  11. a franchise in london is much more than one decade away......playing more than one regular season game a year there and elsewhere, is highly likely as the NFL seeks ways to build/increase their "brand" globally (merchandise sales & TV revenue). The bills have started the "international" process with games shared/being played in Toronto. Look for the Cowboys to do the same thing in Mexico City once the schedule increases to 18 games. I certainly see Los Angeles getting a franchise before London (a relocation move from San Diego, Jax or Raiders again)......i don't see an expansion above 32 teams in the next 20 years.

  12. the "opening" line is set using a combo of your example #1 & #2.....meaning using an "oddsmakers" intellect/best guess as to the final score, who's at home, team strengths and anticipating what the betting public will do. After that, the "line" moves daily strictly based on the actual betting that comes in , with the express purpose of getting the exact same amount bet on each team. this way, the casino can't loose because they are going to make their 10% (vig) off of half that total purse no matter who wins. ( i.e. if a casino takes bets on the bills vs carolina game they want $1 million bet on each team so they can profit $100,000 no matter the outcome).

TIP : for the serious gamblers out there.......track the "opening" line versus the "closing" line.......when that line spread moves by 2 or more points....the betting public is WRONG, 90% of the time. (thats all i'm gonna say).
