  1. Raji Didn’t Test Positive

Posted by Mike Florio on April 20, 2009, 11:05 a.m.

Well, SI.com perhaps will now officially retract its report regarding Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji.

Per a league source, Raji’s name did not appear on the list of players who tested positive for marijuana at the Scouting Combine.

Earlier this month, Tony Pauline of SI.com reported that Raji tested positive. After Raji and his agents denied it, SI.com pulled the story.

But SI.com didn’t retract the report. Eventually, SI.com issued the following statement: “We have investigated the claims of Mr. Raji’s agent and although we have several credible sources for the report we have decided to take it down while we continue reporting the story.”

Appearing on radio recently with Mike Dempsey of 1010XL in Jacksonville, Pauline declared: “I stand by what my sources told me.”

Davis, Cushing, Matthews Not On Positive List, Either

Posted by Mike Florio on April 20, 2009, 11:48 a.m.

And so the truth continues to come out regarding the players who supposedly tested positive at the Scouting Combine.

Per a league source, none of the players who reportedly tested positive and then denied testing positive actually tested positive.

This means that Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis did not test positive for marijuana, and that USC linebackers Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing did not test positive for steroids.

And it could mean that Davis and Cushing and Matthews soon could be the new co-owners of NFLDraftBible.com, the site that reported that each of them tested positive.

  2. This is per Peter King of SI. This isn't gospel, but it may give you an idea if your team is going to be very active on the trade front this weekend. It's a chart of the number of draft-weekend trades the teams have made in the last five years, and the moral of the story is pretty simple: Don't expect Cincinnati and Arizona to be very fluid.

    Team Traded Up(1st #) Traded Down(2nd #) Total Trades (3rd#)

    Dallas 6 12 18

    Green Bay 5 12 17

    Philadelphia 7 7 14

    Jacksonville 7 6 13

    Cleveland 9 3 12

    Detroit 9 3 12

    Minnesota 6 5 11

    Baltimore 6 5 11

    New England 3 8 11

    San Fran. 4 5 9

    New Orleans 4 5 9

    N.Y. Jets 5 4 9

    Oakland 6 1 7

    St. Louis 5 2 7

    Indianapolis 3 3 6

    Miami 3 3 6

    Atlanta 4 2 6

    Seattle 3 2 5

    Houston 1 4 5

    Tennessee 1 4 5

    Denver 3 1 4

    N.Y. Giants 3 1 4

    San Diego 2 2 4

    Kansas City 1 3 4

    Buffalo 3 0 3

    Chicago 0 3 3

    Arizona 1 0 1

    Cincinnati 0 1 1

  3. in 2006 he signed a 5yr, 15 million deal. he had two years left on the deal. i believe his upfront signing bonus was $5million or $1 million per year for cap purposes. Therefore the Bills will be stuck with $2 million of so called dead money. Per cap rules a traded players bonus does NOT transfer to the new team. The remaining bonus money is "accelerated" in the current year of the old team.

Peters signed with philly for 6yr/$60 million. The #28th pick in the draft last year signed for 5yr/$11.25 million....for an annual savings of over $8 million per year to be used for another Free Agent. It's about managing the CAP folks. So the bills got Philly's #1 and a yet to be determined free agent.

  4. as most know by now, i too would be very happy with PETTIGREW at #11, i would be happier with Pettigrew at #13. The Bills do NOT have to take a LT at #11. They should take the best available athlete at a position of need which is pretty much TE, OL, DL, LB. i have said this in other posts but here is what i would do with the 11th pick, if certain players are still there. for the purposes of this debate i will assume Kipers top six players are gone.

    #1- RAJI - DT(currently ranked 8th by Kiper)

    #2- Andre SMITH - OT(ranked 12th by Kiper)

#3- Eugene Monroe - OT (ranked 9th by Kiper)

#3- trade down a little (pick Pettigrew)

#4- Pettigrew (ranked #7 by Kiper) ( if no trade down offers)

i do NOT like any of the Hybrid DE's including Orapko & Maybin

  5. there is no value in the first 8 picks of the draft. the contracts are way to high.....the Bills are actually in a very good spot at #11 when talking talent + contract = value. here is an average yearly salary of the top picks from 2008.

    #1- $11.5 milion

    #2- $11.4

    #3- $12.0

    #4- $10.0

    #5- $10.2

    #6- $10.0

    #7- $ 9.9

    #8- $ 6.7

    #9- $ 3.8

    #10-$3.7

    #11-$3.9

    #12-$3.5

    fast forward

    #28-$2.2

  6. possible leak ??....back on 4/1 ProFootballTalk got ahold of the New England Patriots schedule from NE's own web site, which was taken down right away. Anyways it had us playing the Pats in week one and week 17 in Buffalo. It lists all their games.... Week two at Dolphins, week 3 Jets, week 4 at Broncos, wk 5 Ravens, wk 6 Falcons, wk 7 at Bucs in London, wk 8 BYE, wk 9 at Jets, wk 10 Dolphins, wk 11 at Texans, wk 12 at Colts, wk 13 Panthers, wk 14 Jaguars, wk 15 at Saints, wk 16 Titans.

should be interesting if this is accurate.
