  1. i absolutely see a lack of top level talent at the DE position. it's hard to cover all the bases in these brief posts. i would be inclined to draft defensive lineman with my #1 draft pick almost every year as i feel it's the most important group to be dominant in. we are playing word games , but i dont see a "gaping" hole as Schoelbel has been All pro and Kelsay and Denney are adequate, but none are good enough for me, but at least they are adequate. We do NOT have adequate level talent at the Tight End position. So to me it is a position of greater need. as you have pointed out, we also have needs on the OL, DL & LB.....so i guess we will take the best available athlete at one of those positions of need.

P.S.- i look at your picture and think you are yelling at me....lol.....btw, i know you picked Everette Brown as to who you think the Bills will pick at #11......is that what you would do if he was on the board at #11?.....if not, who would you pick?

  2. New England has taken two "Blocking" Tight Ends with recent 1st round picks. If Pettigrew were still there when New England picks at #23, i'd bet they take him.

2001 6 Richard Seymour DT Georgia

2002 21 Daniel Graham TE Colorado

    2003 13 Ty Warren DT Texas A&M

2004 21 Vince Wilfork DT Miami (FL)

2004 34 Benjamin Watson TE Georgia

2005 32 Logan Mankins OG Fresno State

2006 21 Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota

    2007 24 Brandon Meriweather S Miami (FL)

2008 10 Jerod Mayo LB Tennessee

to Mr Leonidas.....IF we were lucky enough to get Gonzalez with a #2 & (#5's are useless), we could use our #1 pick on one of those other gaping holes you mentioned. i guess our priorities are different. I dont see a gaping hole at DE, i see three average players already signed to big contracts, but i would like to see a huge upgrade there. Chambers filled in admirably when Peters was out last year, i'm sure he can do the same at LG. We just signed KC former starting MLB which could put Puz at OLB. In my Opinion, we have NO viable option at Tight End, a position i believe is crucial for both the run and pass and therefore a bigger "need". It's no secret i'm a fan of Pettigrew, i would be thrilled if we picked him at #11. I would prefer we trade down, pick up an extra draft choice and still get Pettigrew. I just prefer a Blocking first TE with good hands who improves the run game over a "great hands" TE who can stretch the field, but not effectively block. For the record, i don't like any of these so called Hybrid DE's in this years draft. The only way i don't pick Pettigrew is if the DT Raji or the OT Andre Smith is there at #11, but i expect BOTH to be gone.

  3. parking lot to soak up atmosphere (bring football).

grill a hot dog (fill him up before you go in)

field house (all cool things for kids).

club seats (more behaved) or lower bowl between the 20's (row 10 or higher).

    visitors side (sun).

administration end (more scoring with wind).

go in Sep or Oct (nice weather)

pick a team we can beat (lol) a win is crucial.

NO night games, endzones, indoor theater seats, cold weather games.

  4. The Bills are probably still interested in Gonzalez. I would happily give up a #2 and a#5 to get him. We have a GAPING hole at Tight End (there is absolutely no proof he nixed a deal last year to buffalo). A tight end is even more crucial to the running game as a Blocker. That is why Pettigrew is rated so high (top ten talent wise on many boards). There is no way in hell he lasts into the second round. TIGHT END IS ABSOLUTELY THE WEAKEST position on the team. i know many want the bills to draft a DE with the #1 pick, but i guarantee he will be a backup for all of the first year. Pettigrew or Gonzalez would start immediately. I want the Bills to trade down a little and then grab Pettigrew. Either way, getting Gonzalez by trade or Pettigrew in the draft would fill the biggest hole on our team.

  5. Jerry Sullivan does a great job !......he is paid to write an OPINION......i think he can be brutally honest at times, which means bashing our beloved teams when warranted. If you prefer the company line cheerleader approach try Chris Brown on the Bills website. I dont always agree with Jerry, but i do agree with him alot. Sure he says some outrageous things, but thats part of his schtick as a writer, you need to stand out a little to get noticed.

  6. like entourage deja vu.......all these athletes have to deal with this, especially the young single guys.....they go out with their childhood freinds......they have all the money......they start drinking....attract all the honey's and attention......having fun and dont wanna leave......childhood freinds get in a scuffle and athlete backs up his buddy best he can......unless they stay home, this will keep happening.

this will not result in a league suspension.

  7. Roscoe recently signed a 3 year $12.31 million contract extension thru 2011 that puts his current Cap figure at $2.75 million. If they did move him it would be just a salary dump situation. i do NOT think he has "starter" talent at Wide Receiver , he is either our 4th or 5th best WR, so that is alot to pay a backup. He is a tremendous Punt Returner who can stop on a dime in traffic and make people miss. Hate to use McKelvin as a PR as they get killed. I'm leaning towards he is a luxury i want to hang on to. i think others like schoebel & kelsay are NOT pulling their Cap Value weight and i would look to replace/cut them first.

  8. It's almost been a month since Todd McShay and I released our dual mock drafts , and a lot has changed. We've seen most of the pro days for draft-eligible players that enable them to showcase their abilities in a comfortable environment, and we've gotten the results from some of the private workouts that some of the top players have to go through for teams.

Below is a look at how I see the first four rounds shaking out at this point in the predraft process.

    1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16)

Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia: Stafford is worthy of being the No. 1 overall pick, thanks to his overall skill set.

    2. St. Louis Rams (2-14)

Jason Smith, OT, Baylor: The OT spot is strong at the top with Smith, a former tight end who is supremely athletic and exactly what you want in a left tackle: someone you can count on to protect the blind side of your quarterback.

    3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14)

Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest: He's a complete OLB with great character and work ethic, which is why it was no surprise when he nailed his combine workout.

    4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12)

Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia: Monroe is just a shade below Jason Smith in my opinion, but is a legit top-five pick.

    5. Cleveland Browns (4-12)

Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech: The stress fracture in his left foot shouldn't affect his draft status. He's a big-time player who should have a Larry Fitzgerald-type career in the NFL.

    6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1)

Andre Smith, OT, Alabama: Smith has to manage his weight in order to remain on the left side. If he doesn't, he's a mauler at right tackle who could really assist the running game and do the job at that spot in pass protection. Hopefully, he'll maximize his skills in the NFL by paying more attention to detail. If he doesn't, you're looking at a major bust.

    7. Oakland Raiders (5-11)

Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri: Maclin will have to adjust to an NFL offense, but I really like his big-play capability and the fact that he's much more explosive with the pads on than his 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the combine would lead you to believe.

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)

Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas: I view Orakpo as a 4-3 end with the ability to also play on his feet in a 3-4 as an attacking outside linebacker. He is super-athletic and incredibly strong, but there is concern about his durability.

    9. Green Bay Packers (6-10)

B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College: Raji is the top defensive tackle in this draft.

    10. San Francisco 49ers (7-9)

Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State: Maybin is another combo-type who is explosive out of the blocks and relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback.

    11. Buffalo Bills (7-9)

Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee: Ayers enjoyed a solid season in the SEC and then was one of the standouts during Senior Bowl week. He ran the 40 in 4.80 at the combine, though, which could give some teams pause.

    12. Denver Broncos (8-8)

Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU: Jackson would be ideal in a 3-4, thanks to his ability to shift inside in passing situations.

    13. Washington Redskins (8-8)

Mark Sanchez, QB, USC: Sanchez definitely is one of the top five to eight players available in this draft, and getting him here would be a bit of a steal, because had he returned to USC for his senior season, he likely would have been the No. 1 overall pick.

    14. New Orleans Saints (8-8)

Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State: Wells is a nice fit for the Saints after they let running back Deuce McAllister go in the offseason. He could be a perfect complement to Reggie Bush.

    15. Houston Texans (8-8)

Brian Cushing, OLB, USC: Cushing's ability to fit both inside and outside is the reason I've always viewed him as a surefire first-rounder.

    16. San Diego Chargers (8-8)

Rey Maualuga, LB, USC: Maualuga is capable of becoming a quality "Mike" linebacker in the NFL, but needs to use his hands better to ward off blocks and must be more consistent from week to week.

  10. GOOD FOR GOODELL !!......crack down on these thugs.....Marshawn has alot of growing up to do.......Marshawn had a laundry list of incidents before he got here.....google it......since he's been here a HIT & RUN !!......cops smelled MARIJUANA !! ( can't believe that didn't trigger a random drug test) and a GUN CHARGE !!

I believe it will get reduced to two games on appeal.

i would NOT trade him....his Productivity on the field versus his cap hit is sky high VALUE !!......sign Freddy Jackson 4yr $10 million (structured to end in 2 if warranted), let Marshawn play this out and see if he truely changes his behavior.....i say he doesn't, but i ride his rookie contract out and evaluate the situation down the road.

  11. i'm surprised he hasn't been CUT !!......his cap hit is $8.5 million......he is NOT worth that.....the only kind of sacks he ever gets are what they call coverage sacks. He only has one move, speed rush to the outside. He gets pushed so far out and around the QB, he has to double back towards the pocket to get back into the play. He never justs engages the blocker and pushes him right back into the QB. He will probably reinjure that foot.

  12. NO !!.......I would rather pay Peters than take a chance on the #1. The #1 overall pick in the draft is a CURSE !!......you must commit $12 million a year for 5 years ($60 mil) with half of it GUARANTEED on a crap shoot roll of the dice rookie who may or may not be succesful. At least a mid round pick is about a third of that with not much of a drop off in talent. The league seriously needs a rookie scale that doesnt PENALIZE the teams that pick early in the first round. Let me remind you of the previous 10, first overall picks:

1999 Tim Couch Quarterback Kentucky Cleveland Browns (BUST)

2000 Courtney Brown Defensive end Penn State Cleveland Browns (BUST)

2001 Michael Vick Quarterback Virginia Tech Atlanta Falcons (JAIL)

2002 David Carr Quarterback Fresno State Houston Texans (BUST)

2003 Carson Palmer Quarterback USC Cincinnati Bengals (HIT)

2004 Eli Manning Quarterback Ole Miss San Diego Chargers (traded to the New York Giants) (HIT)

2005 Alex Smith Quarterback Utah San Francisco 49ers (BUST)

2006 Mario Williams Defensive End North Carolina State Houston Texans (HIT)

2007 JaMarcus Russell Quarterback LSU Oakland Raiders (JURY STILL OUT)

2008 Jake Long Offensive Tackle Michigan Miami Dolphins (HIT)

2009 TBA Position College Detroit Lions (BUST....it's Detroit....lol)

  13. Let's see who is the "smartest" Bills Fan for ultimate bragging rights. Who will be the Bills first, second & third picks in this years draft (not who you want, but who you think the Bills will actually select). Which may or may not be the 11th, 28th & 42nd picks depending on trades etc....

with my first selection, i'm picking Brandon Pettigrew Tight End......and just to spice things up, i'm predicting not at #11, but at #13 in a trade with Washington. With the #28 pick, i'm selecting Max Unger Offensive Line. With the #42 pick i'm selecting Larry English, DE.

PRIZE-- The WINNER must receive a post from all other participants saying something complimentary about the winner .....value = PRICELESS !! ( god i hope it's not SKOOBY....lol) all in good fun !!

    GOOD LUCK TOO ALL !!

EDIT: in the unlikely event of a tie....the first person to post with the correct picks is the winner.

  14. then eventually we could convert Pettigrew to Left Tackle....lol

Peters worth (to me) is two #1's....otherwise he signs a reasonable new deal or he sits home.

Hey, here is Todd McShays latest Mock Draft (after Cutler deal).....Sanchez is still there at #11.....let the wheeling and dealing begin.....

    1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16): Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia

    2. St. Louis Rams (2-14): Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

    3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14): Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest

    4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12): Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia

    5. Cleveland Browns (4-12): Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas

    6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1): Andre Smith, OT, Alabama

    7. Oakland Raiders (5-11): Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11): Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech

    9. Green Bay Packers (6-10): B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College

    10. San Francisco 49ers (7-9): Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State

    11. Buffalo Bills (7-9): Everette Brown, DE, Florida State

    12. Denver Broncos (8-8): Mark Sanchez, QB, USC

    13. Washington Redskins (8-8): Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee

    14. New Orleans Saints (8-8): Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State

    15. Houston Texans (8-8): Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State

    16. San Diego Chargers (8-8): Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi

  15. looks like a win-win for both.......Denver is going to have to make good on the draft picks......Chicago better hope that Cutler will mature(crybaby punk attitude) and take care of his health (diabetes & drinking) heard he made a fool of himself in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl. Chicago can use the "Cap" money they would have spent on those #1 draft choices to sign more proven Free Agents. We won't know for a couple years who made out better. Based on my "bird in the hand is worth 2 draft picks in the bush" theory, i give slight edge to chicago, for now.

  16. this is a good rumor to start......the bills picking QB with the 11th.......this increases Trade down possibilities with teams like the Jets, Bucs etc... Mark Sanchez's (Kiper #5) USC Pro day was smokin hot, some are saying he moved ahead of Stafford(Kiper #3), it's very unlikely, but if either were there at #11, WOW the Bill's phone will be ringing off the hook......even Josh Freeman's stock is starting to rise.

P.S. SKOOBY please stop eating late at night, these dreams you have are killing us.......lol
