  1. the problem that childress has is that brett has embarrassed him publicly. questioning his authority and play calling. brett should keep his mouth shut and not fight his battles thru the press. now the vikes will have a divided locker room as the media vultures disect from every player who is really in charge. it will be a major distraction at the wrong time. it doesn't matter who is right or wrong......they are not acting like a "team"...it is now about brett vs his coach.

  2. People just have a tendancy to exaggerate. The guy has an injury to his shoulder and all of a sudden it's a glass shoulder. He didn't miss a game before this year. That shoulder is more of a freak occurrence than anything else, imo. But again, the doctors imput should be critical in the decisiion. the guy is 22, not 40.

ok, ok, ok....."glass" is a lil strong......but it is a major concern. again , i love Bradford and if he fell to us i'd be thrilled. i do think both him and McCoy will be gone when we pick, currently at 7-10th.

  3. thats why talent evaluating is so tough......

first of all, Patrick Willis ran a 4.37......McClain runs a 4.60.......while McClain might become a great pro, he is no Patrick Willis.

of the four players you mention, i believe Gerald McCoy has the least amount of risk. i think that Bradford has the most risk with that glass shoulder of his, absent that injury he goes 1st overall (even ahead of Suh). The OT Williams does not look like an elite LT, he played RT most of his career and just moved over with mixed results. i love Bradfords accuracy, but his shoulder is just to big of a red flag. if i'm picking, i would go McCoy.

  4. looks like those standings are listed alphabetically......here are the tie breaking procedures which rely on strength of schedule......in most scenarios the bills strength of schedule is higher/harder therefore losing the tie break to most teams.

    1. If two teams have the same record but one made the playoffs while the other one did not, then the team that did not make the playoffs picks first.

    2. If two teams with the same record both make the playoffs, then the team that is eliminated from the playoffs first gets to pick first. If they both get eliminated in the same round, the teams go on to the next tiebreaker.

    3. The next tiebreaker is strength of schedule. This is determined by calculating the combined record of the 16 opponents of each team. The records of divisional opponents are counted twice because they are each played twice. The combined number of wins and losses for each team adds up to 256. The team whose opponents combined for the fewest wins has the weaker strength of schedule and gets to pick first. That's because the team that gets the same record against weaker opponents is the weaker team.

  5. Suh can bench press 470 lbs.......thats more than any lineman in our league weighs.....excepting our old Mike Williams who reported to the redskins weighing over 400 this year.

Suh is the best player in college...period.......he deserves to win the Heisman.

  6. Trading 1,2 and next years 1? Glad you're not the GM. The kid looks great but you neer know until they play in the NFL. If the Bills are in the top 10 then they may get him if they are not convinced on a QB.

The problem is that you need a great QB to have success in this league and be a great team. If the QB of the future is there (Clausen/Locker) you take him. The reason the Bills have not made the playoffs in 10 years is because they have not had good QB play, plain and simple.

If they think they can get a Pike or someone with the second pick and Suh is on the board I have no problem with them taking the guy. I agree he looks very good and you could pair him next to Stroud as well.

you blame the QB......i blame the neglect of the offensive and defensive lines........how come jim kelly looked like a million bucks early in his career when he had 5 all pro's blocking for him (Wilfork,Richter,Hull, Davis & Ballard) and then had to quit before he was ready because of poor line play from a rag tag bunch at the end of his career. you take jim kelly in his prime and put him behind this years offensive line and he would not be in the hall of fame.

  7. By this logic, it would be best to just pick up an elite DT in free agency. It would be cheaper, the player would already be established, and we could use the pick on someone we would never be able to obtain in FA (like a QB or LT).

i agree with you, if such a player existed, which there isn't. the only impact DT technically avail next year is Vince Wilfork from New England. there is no way he leaves that team. they will franchise tag him because it makes too much financial sense. for whatever reason DT's are underpaid. that is part of the reason why they traded away Seymour......because they couldn't tag both next year, so they have already decided Wilfork makes more sense and they at least get a very high number 1 draft pick from the raiders for seymour in 2011, instead of watching him walk in FA.

if i'm building a team and can have only two all pro's on my defense.....i want them both to be DT's......it all starts there, if you don't dominate in the middle of the d-line, you will struggle. you have to build a defense that can stop 3rd & 1 or 4th &1....just like you should build an offense to get a yard anytime you need it.

  8. recent history comparison........the year is 2007......would anyone here trade Marshawn Lynch (picked 12th overall) and Paul Posluszny (picked 34th overall, but cost us our 2nd and 3rd round picks to move up in order to get him) for either Adrian Peterson (picked 7th) or Patrick Willis (picked 11th). in that year the washington redskins wanted out of the 6th overall pick. the bills could have moved up and picked either one of those guys for our 1st, 2nd & 3rd round picks.

my only point here, is that sometimes it make sense to move up and pay a premium for the right impact player. Suh is one of those players.

  9. Suh is clearly the #1 player based on talent in this upcoming draft. He will most likely be the very first player picked. based on "needs" i guess it's possible that if either st louis or cleveland had the pick they might go QB but i doubt it. Tampa picks suh for sure, detroit picks suh for sure.

currently at best we pick 8th, in order to move up to #1 you would have to swap picks and give up a minimum of your 2nd round pick and probably more. the #1 pick is gonna make $12 million a year for 6 years with over half guaranteed. the current franchise tag value for a DT is only $6.06 million per year (only Haynesworth exceeds this at $7.25 mil), the current franchise tag for DE is $9 million (only Peppers exceeds this at $13.9 mil).

i would take SUH in a heartbeat, he is the most dominating DT to come out of college in quite some time. he is a difference maker, a special player, a pocket crusher, the least risky pick in the draft especially compared to any QB coming out.

  10. not sure what the actual attendance was, but i saw more empty seats at this game than all the previous home games for this year. the crowd was definitely not as loud as usual for most of this game. crowd got loud on a couple key 3rd down plays with coaxing from defense and very loud on their own in fourth quarter, especially when T.O. scored. there were quite a few miami dolphin fans cheering when miami scored.....i'd say about 5,000. as i was walking out, i saw alot of folks dressed in miami colors.

  11. every team needs two good backs......marshawns cap hit is $2.2 million...his actual cash to cap is only $812,000....he represents tremendous value.....i see the bills riding out his contract which has two more years on it. they can decide then if his productivity and behavior warrants resigning him. but for now it would be a mistake to cut him. i agree that freddy deserves more touches for the foreseeable future.

  12. the bills are 4 - 7......they need to win 4 of 5 (jets, kc, ne, atl & indy) to get to 8 & 8. i don't see that happening. i also don't see fewell being head coach next year under any circumstances. i do give fewell credit for playing to win (aggressive, attacking and taking risks) versus Jaurons style of playing not to lose. i also enjoy fewells post game comments as more direct, honest and sincere versus Jaurons style of non answers.

  13. The most important part of these negotiations for the fans is the next coach needs to make sure he gets a full commitment from RWS to spend during Free agency. Plug in Cowher, Shanny, Holmgren, Parcells or Lombardi and without a commitment to compete for talent and the Bills will never get over the hump.

If part ownership is being offered, this is a huge move. If correct I am curious to how this changes the transaction of the franchise after Wilson passes. I would assume that a partial owner would have a say....

there must be one "majority" owner for each nfl franchise, there can be more than one minority owner (see the Rooney family in Pit, 5 siblings ....or the celebrity minority owners in miami). in our case, if the bills gave Shanahan a minority stake, lets just say 1-5%. When ralph passes and his stake is sold, unless there is an additional agreement stating that Shanahan has the "right of first refusal" to buy ralphs shares......then ralph's estate proceeds to sell ralphs share without needing approval from shanahan. Shanahan may or may not want to sell his shares to the new majority owner.
