Bengals changed their OL, but especially early in the season, it wasn't so clear that they fixed it.  1st 4 games of the season, Mixon was getting less than 3 ypc (2 and 2.5 in a couple of those games).  And Burrow was getting pressured and sacked - 7x game one, 6x game 2.

The thing is, they evolved their offense pretty promptly to work better with the line they had - different run plays, getting the ball out faster.

Burrows rocks 10.2 Y/Completion.  That's 5.6 air yards per completion, and 5.2 YAC per completion.

I'm right with you that I want Beane to make substantial investment in offensive line and in WR this off-season, but IMHO we have to fundamentally change either our offensive philosophy, or our offensive execution, or both, to take best advantage.

It took awhile for the Bengals oline to gel this year but they brought in Collins, Cappa, and Karras as free agents.  Drafted Volson in the 4th.  Grabbed another OL from Houston on waivers.  My point is that it's doable to fix the Oline in one off-season and the Bengals and Chiefs have recently done it.  I agree, Bills need to change their offensive approach somewhat.

I was right there with you as well.  I was very disappointed in what we had at WR starting the season.  Was 2 immediate downgrades.  Something I wasn't realizing as much at the time but am now is how he also has ignored the OL for the most part for 5 years and has not put a solid one together in 5 years.  Reid done it in 1 offsesaon, so did the Chargers

Bengals fixed their oline this past off season.  I'm really hoping Beane does it this offseason.

Cincy is better than the Bills at every position. The change of heart around here feels sudden, in part, because the winning streak was smoke and mirrors against middling teams. The moment the Bills played a quality team, they got smoked. That’s jarring.

What's scary too is Taylor is only in his 4th season as head coach.  He's already made it to 2 AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.  It might be 2 Super Bowls here soon.

No, that O-line sucked all year. Allen's impressive running skills hid it. That was taken away in the playoffs.

The oline has sucked for quite a few seasons now.  Allen's escapability and running has mostly overcome their deficiencies.  They really need to address it this off season.  Sign a LG free agent who can start. Draft an OT, WR, and C/G.   Have the OT compete with Brown and the C/G compete with Bates.

Who was Patrick Mahomes RB in college when he was putting up 500 yards a game? The answer is who cares! The passing offense can be an extension of the running game. What's the difference between a handoff and a dump off to a wide open RB in the flat? Running is overrated and when the Bills do it and gain 1-2 yards it's like why even bother when that just means you have 1 less opportunity to complete a pass. Running game need is overrated

Look at the 4 teams that are left. Look at their offensive lines and tell me the Bills oline is as good as theirs.  Not even close.  To hell with running the ball.  How about protecting Allen and giving him time to set his feet right and finding an open receiver?

He will 100% be a Bill next year. It's fully guaranteed and there is a $0 cap savings if cut.  He is a pretty good player. Dude may have won the Detroit game for us. Why the hell would the Bills cut a good player they drafted and gave a 5th year option to, get $0 cap savings and then have to pay more to sign a player to take his place who likely won't be as good?

This thread shouldn't even be a thread. The nonsesicality of it is astounding.

The Bills just got dominated on both sides of the ball on Sunday.  Beane and company will look at everything.  Over 4 years, Oliver hasn't played at a level where he's untouchable.  Looking into possibly trading him for a player or draft pick(s) seems rather plausible.

Probably defeated realizing his prime years are being burned by having lack of quality OC, talent on offense and a defense that is useless in the playoffs. This team needs a big shakeup

I thought Allen wanted Dorsey after Daboll left.  Agree with lack of talent on offense.  Been wanting oline for a couple of years now.  They keep drafting worthless dline guys with high picks.

Im all aboard the fire Ken Dorsey train. Sign me up for that but I’m not on the fire Leslie Frazier train like everybody else. My question for the room is what could he have done differently? I’m curious to hear people opinions. My point of view..they just got dominated up front. Shaq Lawson was the only guy to even get a finger on Burrow. You say bring pressure..but that leaves us vulnerable in the secondary especially when Cincy goes 3 wide.

I don’t think firing Leslie is the answer. They have serious issues up front. Once Von Miller went down. Our defensive line play especially in terms of rushing the passer dropped significantly. We just don’t have the guys up front. That’s the main issue I see with the defense not the coordinator.

Miller went down and Phillips got hurt too.  Just not enough physicality up front on both sides of the ball.

Plain and simple McDermott and this staff has lost a huge percentage of the fan base.

Beane and this organization will be snake oil salesman if there are not major changes. Josh Allen is to good of a talent to rely on the crap this team is running offensively.

That said there are way more qualified OCs on the street that can step in day one. But I think McDermott should go as well. Love McDermott but I think it’s offense this team needs.

AFCE is not guaranteed past this year. Can anyone honestly say this is the team to beat next year in the AFCE? The Oline needs rebuilding. Morse is on his final leg, Dawkins is suspect at LT.

The defense is bad, Frazier needs to go. But it’s the scheme. It doesn’t work. In the snow, you heard Romo, it doesn’t work. Dline is weak next year, and we are all praying on Von, and who Oliver?

It’s time to just cut ties and see what happens. If it’s not this year I guarantee it will be next year, so why wait.

This is not the staff that will win the organization a championship. Fans aren’t buying it anymore.

Good luck Beane…. If it’s the same staff, it’s gonna be a rough year next year.

I understand you're upset but the Bills have won the AFC East the past 3 years and won the division by 3 games this year.  They'll probably be favored to win it again next year barring some unforeseen event.

Now how do they get better going forward?  That's a little tricky because cap space is getting tight.  They need some oline help, a WR who can make Davis WR 3, and I really hate saying this they need some beef on the frickin dline.

Anyone else strangely calm after this? Maybe I’m getting used to it or maybe I just never saw a path to beat the Bengals.

But I’m over it already. I do think changes need to be made at the very highest levels, but I’m not going to let this ruin my day.

    Maybe next year.

Yep kinda of calm myself.  The game wasn't close so there's no agonizing over a handful of plays or calls imo.

What was noticeable in that game was how physical Cincinnati came out on Defense and Offense.  I mean it was really obvious that was their plan.  They were smashing the Bills, and giving the extra "business" on tackles and blocks...borderline dirty.  Well in one case it was dirty.  I do not think the Bengals coud have maintained that intensity, but they had us for the 1st Qtr.

I'm sure the Bills are aware of that aspect and this game will NOT be a repeat.  Buffalo will not be out-physical'd in this one.

I agree.  The crowd was really loud and electric too.  The Bills will be ready for it.  It could be a very physical game on Sunday.

Some of the narrative on ESPN Get Up this morning..

"The Buffalo Bills are playing bad football, sloppy ball, no pass rush they are descending".  "The Bengals will get after the QB much better and they are an ascending team"

It's amazing how 9 minutes of a  football game that ultimately did not count is outweighing the past 2 months of football.  The Bengals oline is beat up.  They'll be starting 3 backup OL guys, a rookie LG, and an average Center.  It's going to be loud as hell and the Bills will likely crowd the line of scrimmage at times to create confusion and miscommunication with the Bengals oline.  If the Bills execute and play their game - they win.

    My keys to the game:

    1) Which defense makes a “big play” (timely interception or fumble recovery)

    2) which team is more efficient in the red zone.

    3) which team minimizes routine execution errors (drops, penalties, and special teams errors).

Both teams will move the ball. Will come down to a few plays here or there in the end.

All good points.  I'm really focused on 2.  The Bengals defense is really good in red zone.  Forced a Patriots fumble inside 10 to clinch the win.  Allowed only 1 TD to the Titans in that win.  Had the big stop at the goal line last week against the Ravens.  Bills need to execute, take care of the ball especially in the red zone.

Poyer is not a cap casualty, he is a FA.  I would have to prioritize Edmunds over Poyer if I had to choose.  The Bills have some manipulation they can do but there will be some more holes too, Dequan Jones is up, Saffold is up and there are others.  Going to have to draft/develop some replacements.   The BIlls have been over spending the cap for a few years and they probably will again which is fun but they are at the point where you ahve to make tough decisions on guys you want to keep

Daquan Jones signed a 2 yr deal with Bills.  Under contract for 2023 but tough decisions to be made for sure.

I think a lot of that was due to Thompson holding on to the ball too long. I believed he average 3.21 seconds per throw which is way too long by NFL standards.

I'm not implying the defense didn't play well. I know the stats look pretty good. However, I expected a more dominant Dline performance vs Miami. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Burrow will get the ball out much much more quickly. I believe the Bengal offense presents some very difficult match ups and challenges for the Bills defense in spite of their Oline issues.

Bills D needs to get pressure up the middle.  Hoping Oliver, Jones, and Settle have strong games.

Flawed logic here. The Bengals aren't the Bills. Plus, the Bengals have vast experience playing with a poor oline. Sure it's not an ideal or great situation. The Bengals went to the Super Bowl with a terrible Oline. Lastly, the Bills just played a Miami team that had practice squad players on their Oline. The Dolphins oline might be worse than the Bengals current Oline. The Bills Dline was somewhat disappointing vs Miami. They have to play better be Cinci.

The Bills D had 4 sacks, 11 QB hits, and numerous pressures in the game.  Thompson was 18 for 45 for 220 yards.  The Dolphins had one decent drive all game which resulted in a touchdown.  The defense actually played pretty well.

Sorry I dont agree that he was pressured all game.  He had 45 attempts and a lot of them had all day to throw the ball.

He was 18 for 45 220 yards.  Sacked 4 times for 31 yards.  2 interceptions and hit 11 times.  Each Bills D line guy had 2 QB pressures on him. He threw some nice balls during the game that were dropped but the Bills also had 10 passes defended.  Miami's offense had one decent drive all game that resulted in a touchdown.  Too many short fields allowed Miami to hang in the game plus the defensive TD.  Bills defense played pretty well.
