Would be tight even with Edmunds not signing.  Don't get me wrong I'm for anything to protect and give Josh more time.

It would mean I think that there would be no mid-level FA WR and about a 4th or later WR drafted.

The D would have some plugs versus prime players.

That being said, I do firmly believe Josh can make mediocre WRs better and good receivers great, given more time.

It's the hill I'm going to die on this year!

Where do you see the early picks rounds 1 - 3?  If Edmunds leaves, they would need to get his replacement.  I think WR could still be in play on Day 2.  Perhaps LB, WR, DE, S, DT, and RB assuming they get 2 starting Oline guys in FA.

I'm relieved.  I think the Bills would LOVE to re-sign him and probably had it as a top priority, but if Edmunds is going to chase the money, there is no way we can stay in the bidding.

It's taken me awhile to get here but I agree with you.  I believe Beane and McDermott thought they were drafting a real game changer but it never developed in that sense.  I think Edmunds is gone, and although it might sting initially to lose a good player, the Bills should be better off if they make some good free agent signings in lieu of re-signing Edmunds.  Sign a starting guard and a WR.

Remember when the Chiefs let guys like Ward, Matthieu, Ingram and Reed go, while trading Tyreek Hill and then won a Super Bowl the following year?

Sometimes you let good/great players walk and the re-allocation of assets allows you to build a team more suited to winning a Super Bowl.

Maybe that’s us this year letting Poyer and Edmunds walk, along with, perhaps, trading away a guy for picks and/or to free up cap.

If Edmunds walks, the Bills could likely sign 2 FA guards (Ben Powers, Dalton Eisner, etc) and a FA MLB for the amount of money Edmunds gets and likely have money left over.  Edmunds is probably trying to get Roquan Smith $ if not more.  5yr $45M gtd $100 M total.

KC not only has Mahomes they have a GM that is killing it with smart trades/value free agent signings and most importantly drafting.  All but 2 of the Chiefs draft picks from last year were starters this year.

They have another 12 picks in this coming draft, so unless Beane starts hitting on picks then the Chiefs will be tough to beat because they will always have a solid cap situation(14 mllion in cap before making any adjustments) to add top free agents with so many players/starters playing on rookie deals.   We waste a 3rd rounder on a small/average speed LB in Bernard who almost never saw the field while the Chiefs took 3 players after who all started including RB Pacheco

The fact is Beane has not been very good drafting,  many busts with early round picks and were falling behind because of it.

It all starts and ends with Andy Reid.  He out prepares his opponent during the week, outcoaches his opponent on game day, and outdrafts his opponents in the draft.  He also unloaded Hill for a draft haul and reloaded along with avoided paying a huge contract.  Reid is killing it.

I’m going to pre-face this by saying that I think that our general manager overall has done an outstanding job, you don’t stay in the playoffs every year and have 13 and three seasons whenever your GM sucks

    However

I agree with the take of saying one thing, and doing another, whenever it comes to the offensive line

It feels like we have done the bare minimum to try to put a confident offensive line on the field, start addressing it the same way that you have been addressing the defensive line but hopefully with better players

Beane needs to emphasize oline with premium assets.  Enough with bargain bin shopping for oline guys.  Protect Allen.

This is just a hot take.

What happened the last time the Chiefs were in the SB?  Bucs D held them to 9 points and smashed them.

Look what the Chiefs did after this game.  They traded for LT Orlando Brown Jr, signed LG Joe Thuney, drafted C Creed Humphrey and RG Trey Smith.  They totally overhauled their Oline.  Bills need to redo their oline but probably won't.

The oline is a consensus top need across the board. Let's hope we have the resources to get it done. I think there has to be a willingness to sacrifice some pieces on D to make sure you can invest properly.

They have the resources.  It might require contract restructures if they want to sign a FA oline guy but they have draft picks.  To me, it's their philosophy regarding the oline that needs to change.  They don't prioritize it enough imo.

  8. The Bills are a good team but not really good.  That's what the Bengals loss told me.  The Chiefs Oline gave Mahomes time to throw against Bengals.  The Chiefs defensive line got pressure on Burrow.  The Chiefs provided a blueprint on how to beat them.  Bills need to getmore stout up front on both sides of the ball but I'm hoping for strong focus on oline.

The thing that sucks is I think they caught the Chiefs based on winning two out of the last three. But now the Bengals are better than both teams. If Burrow didn't have the appendectomy surgery that caused him to miss the entire preseason, leading to an 0-2 start, they probably take the 1 seed over both the Chiefs and Bills.

Good point.  Their oline was a little spotty early on.  Took a few games for them to come together.  Lot of new faces but experienced guys.

Sadly, the Bills cake is already baked. The 4 D-Lineman Beane drafted in the 1st and 2nd round, are either stiffs (Epenesa - Basham), or not reliable disrupters (Oliver - Rousseau). A team just doesn't get away with such horrible picks, at the top of the draft over 3 years. Now the Bills are supposed to just "Find" some better players, with no money to spend? I don't see a quick way out. The O-Line is just as bad. Josh is single handedly keeping this team afloat! People must realize, McDermott and Beane didn't want to rely on Allen so much in 2022. They realized after a few games, that they had no choice!! The bills are who Beane made them to be. Now ONLY time, and brilliant drafting can save them. And given Beane's recent history (The last 3 years), I'm not betting on it. The Bills look to be a wildcard team for the next few years.

Not sure about the wildcard comment but pretty much agree with everything else.  Draft a WR and 2 OL guys early.  Draft a safety and move Benford to safety.  Like it or not I think they're re-signing Edmunds.  Would like to see them sign a free agent LG who's legit starter.  If they strengthen oline it could hide some of their defensive deficiencies.

We had one on the board, Creed Humphrey top rated center in the draft 1300 snaps in 2022, was drafted second round pick 63 in 2021.  We drafted Boogie 2 spots earlier.  I know they feel loyalty to Morse, but this is a head slapper.  Makes you wonder about our scouting dept.

They could have drafted Humphrey and have him play guard for awhile.  The Bills oline situation is so annoying.  One dumb move after another.  Hey let's sign an old broken down OL for one year for $6+ million.  *****

I see some positives in those numbers.  It will be very difficult to actually put a worse line together even if Bean tries.  He can't really mess this up unless he slides Saffold to LT or something.

Beane really hasn't done anything with the oline in 5 drafts.  He got Ford (bust), Brown, re-signed Dawkins, and signed Morse.  Throw in a bunch of lower echelon guys.  That's about it.  He has a franchise QB who got hurt this year.  I blame Beane for it because he keeps spending premium picks on the dline.

I think that it depends on whether or not they believe that Tre will ever come back 100%. If they think that he will not, McDermott will probably grab a first round corner. If they think that he will, I predict a safety instead.

I hear you Bill.  Either way, it's possibly another lost opportunity to either protect Allen with a quality OL or get him another WR to pair with Diggs.  I hope we're wrong.

    Cinci was much worse imo.

In the 13 second debacle, I knew damn well that the Bills were the Bills and could blow the game. I never felt safe, and I know that I was not alone in feeling this way.. Then of course we went down but we appeared to have a rosy future. Of course, McClappy screwed it up with the draft.

In this game we were not only slaughtered, we had to watch our superstar QB get deemed all but worthless due to having no protection and not enough weapons. It was, and still is sickening.

They will not fire McDermott. I wish they would but it isn't possible imo. I truly believe that he will draft a first round safety, and possibly trade up to get one.

It is a sad situation indeed.

After listening to Beane defend Brown yesterday among other things and listening to McD say we're a good football team, I have this unsettling feeling they're gonna run it back next year pretty much as is.  Not only that but they'll draft another frickin DE in the first round.

When you caught your wife sleeping with your best friend?

That's easy dude.  No one wants to be a double amputee.  There's women everywhere and go get a dog for your best friend.  Cheers!
