With Hyde being out for the year, why isn't Beane signing a Safety?  The guy on the PS isn't even experienced enough to come in.

This team refuses to use Neal on defense.  I don't even know if he played any defense in the preseason.

I guess they could use Cam Lewis who never seems to be healthy anyways.

Right now we have 3 total safeties on roster, and IMO Johnson really struggled last game.  With a couple vets still on market (Landon Collins, Jaquiski Tartt, etc) it seems strange that it is being neglected.

The short answer I believe is they think Cam Lewis can play safety if needed.

The longer answer is they are hoping that guys return to the lineup w/o further injuries, they are tight in the cap, they like Cam Lewis, and they may get Benford reps at safety once he returns along with everyone else.

Ball washing McD at this point is really odd. Not sure why people are still doing it...considering all the mistakes that have cost us not just games, but our chances to go to the big game.

And, yes...I said mistakes. Just like the article says. Is the coach not responsible for those? Isn't his job to make sure everyone is prepared, and to not have or limit mistakes?

    I truly don't get it

Yep.  McD dropped the td in the end zone, dropped a pick 6, missed a FG, messed up the snap at halftime, gave up the 3rd and 22 conversion.  Is it all possible that despite gaining nearly 500 yards in offense that the Bills players just didn't make one more play to win the game.  Here's a what if for you - what if the Bills won that game?  Would you be blaming McD on a close victory?

That’s what I said in my last sentence?

Maybe your last sentence should have been your only sentence.  "However, on the flip side, can anyone blame him for what happened at the Dolphins considering the OL he was behind and, by the second half, he basically had no one to work with?"

I don’t agree with this. How many TD’s (in the endzone) do you see a football move happen? How many jukes, etc happen after catching in the endzone?

People will say “it’s the time that matters”. Except it’s often not. Watch this clip below. Lamb catches the ball and refs signal TD nearly immediately. THEY ARENT EVEN LOOKING AT HIM ON THE GROUND to see if he dropped it.

Just 2 feet were in, TD.

He held onto the ball unlike Davis.  Try again.

But this ignores the point that poor coaching decisions put us in the position to need a last minute score.

    - QB sneak at the goal line and we likely don’t need a last minute score

    - Don’t waste a timeout on a PUNT and we likely have another 3 points (field goal before half time)

    etc

I also have a hard time blaming the linemen at that point of the game. They were exhausted.

Watch the game again.  Oline was getting beat bad.  Early and often.  Spencer Brown was a turnstile.  It affected Allen's mental clock I.e. lack of time to go through his progressions.

Nobody. Jackson will be back this week and Elam looked great. Tre is a few weeks away. Benford can play a few weeks with a cast.

I'd go after a safety. Johnson looked terrible for a guy that "has been in the meeting room" for four years. He's not good enough.  Go get a big body to play SS and move Poyer back to FS.

Long term I wonder if Benford is good enough to play safety. Elam is not relinquishing that starting spot.

McD just said Benford is out a couple of weeks.  Surgery tomorrow.

I don't know how you can't be concerned about Lamar. The guy is playing at an all time high and the Bills defense is so banged up. Scheme can only take you so far. It's like having the best jockey on a so so horse. The horse usually doesn't get the win even though he has the best jockey. You need a live horse just like the Bills need quality experienced players. For many, it will be the first time facing the dynamic explosive Lamar. Add in Balt is at home and that causes me great concern. The Bills will have to execute much better on offense than yesterday. 500 yards of offense is great but 20 points is not. Balt defense at home will not likely drop the interceptable balls Allen threw. This is a big test for the Bills.

    My early prediction is:

    Balt 35

    Bflo 28

Are you going to do this all season?  Worry about every game and think we are going to lose every game?  Breathe man and have some confidence.

Just as a thought experiment, there's not one coach in the league you'd trade McD for?

At the risk of being trashed, no I wouldn't trade for another coach.  BB is 70, Reid is one cheeseburger away from the big one, Harbaugh isn't leaving, and neither is McVay.  McD is a good coach and a good guy.  I wish he had Shakir active yesterday because they definitely could have used him.  Other than that, they were a lot of player mistakes yesterday.

I love mcd, that said the close game thing is bothersome.

I'm nowhere near the idiocy of some on the board, however, we are the hot place to be right now. If we were in a position to make a major upgrade to head coach, I wouldn't hesitate. It'd be a very short list, and unlikely anyone on that list would shake loose.

    *****************

Could we take a constructive moment to list a few coaches we'd take over McD, if they were to become available ? Here's my take at it:

    -John Harbaugh

    -Tomlin

    -Reid

Does Sean Payton make that list? I can't say, but I'm sure there would be some firey take about him both ways 🤷‍♂️

    McD is not going anywhere

I find that very odd to read. I read Florio a lot and never picked up on any animosity toward the Bills.

His favorite team isn’t even in our conference, and he has had the Bills listed as the best team in the NFL for some time now.

Listen to his show with Chris Simms.  Simms speaks highly of Allen and the Bills.  Florio almost always downplays Simms takes and usually goes the other way.  I'll admit though Florio took the Bills yesterday.

Yeah dressing only 5 receivers.......one of them injured(Gabe Davis)..........and then throwing a team record 62 passes..........another controllable and questionable organizational move.

Yep.  They needed 6 or maybe 7 WRs yesterday.  I hope they adjust accordingly.  Last 2 years early road games at Miami.  Wouldn't surprise me if it's three next year.

    - Challenging a clear Titans catch last week was indefensible

I was at the Titans game.  The scoreboard replay showed an angle of this play where you did not see the guy toe tap his right foot.  The crowd went berserk and I believe McD may have been influenced by it.  Of course after it was challenged you saw another angle where both feet were in.

It is an excuse because Miami had to play in it too.  If the Bills were not properly preparing and pumping fluids all week, that's on them.  We've played in Miami when it's been hot like this before.

My point is Miami practices in that heat all training camp and preseason and the Bills don't.  It's that plain and simple.  It's a lot more than just staying hydrated.

Here's a real weather example.  Back in college went to Disney World around New Years.  It was in the low 40s.  My brother and I were running around in t shirts and shorts.  The native Floridians were wearing winter coats and hats and freezing their asses off.  True story

I live in Tennessee which can get a little warm.

I don’t agree it’s an unfair advantage though. They prepared the best they could for heat, and still chose to throw 60+ passes while controlling time of possession all day. They should have been able to run right over Miami the entire 4th quarter.

We'll just disagree on the weather issue.

I would disagree. You know what you’re getting into going there every year. 60+ pass attempts it’s not a big surprise your receivers can’t run anymore in the 4th quarter.
Especially when there’s only 4 of them after Kumerow is hurt.
They lost this game. Weather is weather everyone has to deal with it. Their defense was on the field all day in the heat as well.

Weather is not weather when you're talking that kind of heat and humidity.  Your body actually adjusts to those conditions.  Losing fluids to a point where you are cramping up and can't breathe is terrible.  It just sucks.  I live here in DC and deal with that crap in July and August.  I'm guessing you don't live in heat.

Hard to call todays stat sheet a clunker. The Bills and Josh failed to close but they controlled this football game. This loss is definitely  on the offense but it wasn’t a clunker on that side of the ball.

I was referring to last year's losses.  Today was frustrating though.
